Kacxa-Week 2021

Kacxa Week has started, but there really haven’t been much traction on it in terms of prompts or asking of it. So I am going to suggest that just for this year it officially start on on the 11th. The prompts I have some in mind and will post them later this week, but if some of you have suggestions by all means share them and I will look them over and select for the list. 

Stories and fan art are welcome. But if you feel motivated music videos are also accepted. The goal is to have fun ad to share our ideas on how these 2 Galra Half-breeds would interact with each other. 

But keep in mind, we now have 3 places to post our Kacxa-Week works! Here on DeviantArt, I believe someone runs the Instagram Kacxa-Week page, and I run the DeviantArt page. 

I am looking forward to seeing what everyone produces! See next you next week! And don’t forget to tag your work “kacxa week 2021″

What is The Voltron Quintessential?

The VLD fandom is quite scattered, nowadays, isn’t it? This blog aims to bring  VLD fans together and provide a one-stop platform for people to promote, share, and participate in the fandom.

What happened to @quiznakchronicle?

We…don’t know. Ran out of fuel, maybe.

What will you promote?

As the VLD fandom has slowed down considerably since the show ended, this blog will be taking a slightly a different approach to event publicity: we will not only be posting the initial event announcements, interest checks, and calls for applications, but also the follow up posts from event blogs such as application deadline reminders and zine production updates. That said, please do follow the event blogs themselves!

The best way to notify The Voltron Quintessential about your event is to mention  @vldquintessential in a post, be it a reblog or the original. To cover all your bases, please tag #VoltronEvents2021 (in the ORIGINAL POST, or it won’t show up in search), as we will soon start using this tag. 

Anyone can tag us, not just the mods!

If you’re afraid tumblr ate your mention, which sometimes happens, (or I miss it, which also happens) simply send us a submission/DM — it’s better to do this for zines and events that use another platform, like Twitter. 

Starting 2021, the mods will be posting monthly updates.

Curtashi’s Cotton Anniversary starts in less than a week! Be sure to share with anyone who might be interested!!!

Just a quick reminder that this starts today!

Three days until the Curtashi’s cotton anniversary event!

Below are some FAQs in case anyone is curious or confused!

1. What is a cotton anniversary?

In western tradition, this is what the 2nd wedding anniversary is called, based on a theme of what gifts the couple traditionally give each other. Since this is the second anniversary of the finale and thus Curtashi’s wedding, I gave it that name.

2. Who can participate?

Anyone and everyone who wants to! 

3. Is art allowed?

Absolutely!

4. Do I have to fulfill all the prompts?

Not at all! If you can, that’s great, but if you can only do one or two, we still welcome your submissions! We’re just excited to see people create!

5. Is there a deadline?

Technically no, but since the event runs from the 7th-14th we encourage you to make your submissions during that time.

6. Are there restrictions on what I can post?

Not exactly. There are some exceptions, however, see below.

7. Is it okay to include other characters or pairings?

Other characters are absolutely fine. Other pairings are fine if they’re in the background- a mention of Klance is fine, but Klance being the focus is not. Further, Shiro and Curtis being with others is only allowed if it was in the past. This includes threesomes. And they must still end the story together- breakup/divorce fics aren’t allowed, since this is a Curtashi event.

8. Any other rules I should know about?

Our rules are pretty basic. Besides the above there’s only a few others. No troll fics, character bashing, etc. All AO3 rules must be followed and works must be appropriately tagged. This is a closed collection, so I will approve all works to be listed. I recommend reading from the collection, not the main tag, due to a history of similar past Curtashi events being trolled, though of course that is a suggestion, not an actual rule. Lastly, as said above, the story must have Shiro and Curtis together, as the focus, with any mentions of them with others (including threesomes) in the past only.

Other than that, have fun and post whatever strikes your fancy to fill these prompts!

We’re super excited for this year’s GenTron event, starting just one week from now! We can’t wait to begin our second annual celebration of the platonic relationships among the universe’s greatest group of spark dorks!

The event will be running from August 3rd to August 10th, 2020. But don’t worry; if you’re going to be busy that week, or if you need more time to finish your art or fic, we always accept late submissions!

Whether you’ll be posting creations every day for the event, posting just once, or you’re here to provide your support as a reader/viewer, we’re thrilled to have you!

The votes are in, and it’s time to get ready for the official GenTron Week 2020! A week-long event dedicated to celebrating platonic love and friendship among our favorite space squad!

A huge thank you to everybody who submitted prompt suggestions, and everyone who cast their votes! And if your favorite prompt didn’t make the top 14, don’t worry - this year we’re adding an 8th day, Free Day, to the event. On that day, we’ll be accepting any gen works that celebrate platonic relationships among the Voltron characters, including those for any of the other prompts that were up for vote, any of last year’s prompts, or any other idea you choose!

The event will run from August 3rd to August 10th, 2020, and each day will feature two optional prompts for writers and artists to work with:
