Not drama, genuinely curious! Is Shiro gay as in actually gay, or gay as in the umbrella term, do you think? I can’t find anything concrete and he could also be bi or pan etc, but everyone seems so sure and I think if anyone had an answer it would be you! Thank you!

(LM) For me it was exciting, the idea of having this character who had been so much to so many people, and none of that was based on his sexual orientation. And then to just reveal that he is a gay man, and that in no way changes his relationships with other people, anything that he’s done. And, you know, sometimes, I think it’s amazing to have stories where you have the characters finding themselves, but then it’s also incredibly important to have stories where this character is fully formed, and he’s a gay man, and he’s doing amazing things, and he’s flawed, and he has his own problems. So, that was, to me, was why I love the idea of having Shiro being our representation

(JDS) They’re in a relationship
(LM) Yeah, I think we want to maybe allow the fans to see what they want to see. We don’t want to put anyone in a corner so other people feel like they’re not represented
Bottom line for me (or how I’m choosing to see this), is that canonically Shiro is queer and attracted to men. Beyond that, I think how people specifically see Shiro, as in he’s only attracted to men or attracted to other genders in addition to men or what have you, is all up to each individual person and all interpretations are valid!
Edited to add: And it’s also important to remember that what’s said in interviews outside the show’s canon are not the be-all and end-all of how things are! It’s equally valid to only take what’s explicitly shown on screen for the basis of your ideas/interpretations :)
