I nailed her.” do such men even exist, and where do i find them, norman reedus is perfect, although i would make sure to explain that there would be absolutely no need to cry (which probably isn´t even such an easy thing to do, but then crying is such a more pleasant reaction than the guy getting a saddened, semi-aggressive attitude making the whole situation really uncomfortable for the girl too, making her feel like she made some terrible mistake and all just because of some stupid hurt man’s pride / ego) nevertheless getting pinned against a tree by daryl doesn´t sound too bad, maybe this might take place in a later stage of a relationship when they got to know each other and it is clear that both are into such things, but i don´t think it would suit his character in the first place as well, and there is so much more to love about this complex character than just some (fanfiction) fantasies you have about him :D

Oh yes, Daryl is a very complex character, and his relationship with Carol goes waaaay beyond just waiting on them to seal the deal, imo.  As a matter of fact, to me, Caryl already is canon (and no one can make me think otherwise so don’t even try).  But to address the last sentence about fanfiction, there are so many good writers out there who absolutely have hit the nail on the head regarding Daryl’s character and the Caryl relationship, even without smut.  I am constantly thrilled and amazed at all the insight out there.  And as for the smut?  Well, let’s just say that some of that is very entertaining and quite….stimulating…as well.  Definitely has it’s own purpose.      

I personally love to see physical affection in FanFiction’s that are not an act of intercourse. (Though-damnit if I don’t love those too!)

Such as hand holding or fingers over hips where it peaks out from under their shirt. Fingers ghosting and soft closed mouth kisses. Something like this I feel shows a FAR higher intimacy than open mouthed-tongue down your throat-wow your tonsils taste great- rut up against a tree- sex.

I like seeing love before the lovemaking. For both Carol and Daryl, physical touch would have been, more often than not, in their combined pasts something that wasn’t asked for and would have often been unwanted sensations such as pain and fear.

NO TOUCH OR WORD should EVER be forced upon a person’s body that isn’t CONSENSUAL or WANTED.

Consensual touching and contact and sighed sweet nothing’s of praise and comfort can mean far more than a quick “fuck”

Consider a back rub, something simple and loving. A relief of pain and stress. This would be a HUGE leap for both of them.

You would be on your stomach/facing away from the massager, unable to see them or what they are gonna do.

I’m trusting him/he trusts me. I’m touching her imperfections/I don’t mind him touching my imperfections. I find pleasure in this/I find pleasure in this. Giving pleasure brings me pleasure. I would never hurt them/they would never hurt me. Stop means stop.

These thoughts and thought processes can express love and respect far more than any tree banging ever could, I feel.

i have to agree with littleshelly0619 that there are amazing writers out there who do fanfiction (and yes smut is great and has ist purpose i didn´t want to say something against it ;) ) and i really love how those pick up even the smallest hints (may that be words, actions or even little smiles) from twd and develop them in a „new“ story [which on the other hand makes norman reedus depiction of daryl even more awesome otherwise such things wouldn´t be possible] and somehow they manage to write perfectly logic and understandable pairings , as different as they might be (and i even have read quite a few (ok a lot ^^°) great slash fictions)

but i don´t see Caryl as canon, as far canon means that there is a love / sexual relationship (and no i don´t want to make you think otherwise littleshelly0619 im perfectly fine with you seeing them as canon =) ) and concerning this pairing i am in total agreement with  jackandhoney people can share a much deeper bond than one established with sexuality and i think the bond which daryl and carol share has high intimacy but without a real sexual connotation, they might also get into a sexual bond but i think this wouldn´t add much to their relationship, although i would also cherish it to see them establishing such a sexual relationship if they can draw some comfort or else from this, but (getting back to the gif-picture) i guess daryl would never throw her against a tree there would be a completely different way for them to get in physical touch

Over all i don´t see sexual intimacy as a thing that makes a relationship better (takes it to a „higher level“) in general, it can have such a function but i don´t think it makes a relationship instantly better – it will change it for sure but this can even be a change leading in the other direction i am deeply convinced (although some people might think different) that there can be an absolutely awesome, valuable and strongly intimate bond between man and woman (man/man, woman/woman) that doesn´t need sexuality, and that one can even share more with such a person than with the „ordinary“ love/sexual interest
