Bus Accident, July 15, 2013. My side of the story. Felt God's POWER.
Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines.
It was just another ordinary day for me, my nanay and my sister, July 15, 2013, Monday. I and Nanay were in a bus Cubao bound since we were going to San Mateo, Rizal to visit a relative. My sister, Ate Cecil, was also in the same bus with us cuz she was on her way to work. I and Nanay were sitting on the second line next to the most front seats behind the driver and my sister was all the way at the back. Just like the other people in the bus, we were chatting, talking about our plan for the day, talking about the food that we wanted to enjoy later, and talking about our relatives that we were about to visit. And at some point in the ride, I would close my eyes and take a nap, since I was so sleepy having woken up at 5am to catch the bus. My Ate said she was also asleep since the ride was smooth and it was cold cuz it was raining outside. While we were in a nap, we were suddenly woken up by screams of our fellow passengers and the violent movement of the bus to the left and to the right. At 6:50am, we realized that we were right on the Alabang flyover/viaduct and another wrong violent turn of our bus, we would fall and crash to the vehicles down the viaduct. It was the longest 45 seconds of my life. 45 seconds of violent shaking and swerving of the bus. Everybody was screaming except me. I was uttering a simple but very powerful prayer. "Keep us safe Lord" was all I could say. For some reason, I wasn't afraid. I wasn't afraid that it would end really, really badly. At this time, I knew I had faith. Faith that we would all be ok. The last 10 seconds in the bus was the most critical part. The bus finally hit a short post at the center island of the road and we felt the strong impact. Our seats were taken off of their metal parts. I saw nanay hit her face on the seat in front of us. And I fell on my knees on the metal bars. When the bus stopped, I heard my sister screaming, asking me if Nanay was ok. And yes, we were all ok. I led Nanay toward the bus door, assisted other passengers and waited for Ate until we came out of the bus safely. Outside were passengers crying, calling their loved ones on their phones, telling them what happened, and telling them where we were at. After a few minutes, reporters came and interviewed my sister. Then we were taken to the nearest hospital. My nanay, gladly, was ok even after hitting her face on a seat. I and Ate Cecil suffered multiple injuries on the arm and knees. Despite everything that happened, I'm still thankful. Who wouldn't be thankful after having been given second life? I could say we were just a few inches from death but God still gave us a chance to live. To Skyway Patrol, we thank you for being right there at the scene to rescue us when we needed you. To Cher bus company, we are very thankful you never left us. To Medical Center Paranaque, thank you for attending our needs and giving us proper care. In the middle of everything, I witnessed Filipinos helping each other hand in hand. And I'm very, very proud and happy seeing one helping another. Now, we're safe back home. My Nanay and Ate Cecil are ok. As for me, well, my knees still hurt a lot. But we're all alive and that's what matters now.
God, thank You, You answered my prayer. You kept us safe. ♥
Revelation 7:12
They sang, "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen."
