Live from America, it's the House of Googie!

It's been a while since I've posted here, but that's because I've been working on something big. Really big.

I'm travelling to America!

To celebrate my 30th birthday, I'll be visiting California, Nevada, and Arizona, the very home of Googie, and taking in the sights. San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and plenty of other places, I can't wait to see them all! For a guy from New Zealand who's only visited south-eastern Australia, this is huge.

I'll also be visiting KoHoSo, who some of you may remember from the retro Tumblr community last decade. He's been hard at work finding all sorts of mid-century sights and delights for me, and a lot of this trip couldn't have been done without his help.

Of course, I'll do my best to share some of the Atomic Age goodness that I find here; after more than a decade, I'll finally be able to show my own Googie pictures! And that is very important to me, because Googie is Good™.

Ah, once again, Googiemastime has descended upon us! Dress in your finest and hold that smile for the next 24 days, because Santa has a new television set, and he is watching you.

How we've made it this far is anybody's guess.

Let's face it, this past year has been so bloody mad that even Stanley Kramer would struggle to beat it. Still, anything's possible. Roll on 1963.

Yes, it's happened again, Googiemastime is upon us! Quick, rush out and buy a bunch of things you don't need with money you don't have! ’Tis the season, you know.

Did you miss me? After spending some time in 2022, I proclaim it to be stupid, so I am now back in 1962 where I belong.

Shipping bottlenecks mean Santa's having to work a hell of a lot faster this year.

As we wearily stumble across the finishing line of this ghastly year, we can look forward to a year full of hope... hopefully. At least if things are still topsy-turvy and upside-down, 1961 will still look the same. Is that a good thing? We shall see.

Ah, ’tis Googiemastime again! Safe and socially-distanced seasonal greetings to you all! We’re almost through this year, folks, so keep those shoulders squared and those pearly whites gritted. Pour out an Early Times if the need arises.

The House of Googie has made its call for today’s election. After exhaustive research (scrolling through Twitter) and calculations (on the back of my till receipt), we are confident that either Mr. Kennedy or Mr. Nixon will be elected President of the United States tonight.

With the 2010s drawing to a close, it is time to look forward to a bold new decade full of promise, hope, and massive tail fins. It might be 2020 outside, but at the House of Googie, 1960 awaits!

The final Googiemas of the decade is approaching, which means it is time to festoon the House with resplendent and festive decorations. Or we can just put up a huge pizza and be done with it.

I am pleased to announce that the House of Googie is fully compatible with all SAGE and System/360 systems. Those of you with fancy 21st century devices will need to downgrade for best results.
