In regards to Cinder killing Watts reducing the assistance of reaching their goal, I wouldn't say it was a major loss. Yeah, Watts was a valuable asset but I knew he'd die in V8 since he really wouldn't be able to contribute much afterwards since his main area of expertisewas technology. Furthermore, it's not like him being gone will really slow Salem and Cinder down. Salem still got the two relics, another kingdom had been taken down, and with the relic of creation in her grasp, that really amps the danger Salem poses.

The thing is that now, Salem has the Relic of Creation. For the uninitiated, the Relic of Creation is a supernatural item created from two gods, and it has the ability to create anything... as long as the spirit inside the relic has a specific blueprint to work off when using his magic.

The two times the Relic was used in Volume 8 followed that rule. Penny the robot was turned into a human (as stupid as it was) because the spirit had the blueprints to Penny beforehand, and when it was used to create a bunch of tunnels and portals to evacuate civilians, it was only because the spirit relied on shipment systems inbetween the cities of Mantle and Atlas to create them in.

Watts is an incredibly intelligent man who was able to rig an election on his own with only a bunch of cellphones he used like a computer, and designed a mechanical scorpion tail for his ally who just got his real one cut off. If he could do that, he could obviously do so much with the relic. He could just draw up some basic schematics for an army of killbots, or a superweapon that sucks up all the Dust in Remnant, and the Relic of Creation could give Salem’s faction that.

Now, they don’t have the smart man who can draw up anything they want to use for the Relic, in addition to losing their brains. Honestly, the only good thing to come of Watts’ death was now Salem might actually have to get up and fight more.

I’m sorry that I keep disagreeing with you, but this is just a problem I had with easily one of the better villains on this show getting killed off.

Eh, I'd argue her backstabbing Watts and Neo actually still makes a lot of sense in her character change. Yeah, she realizes she has to be smarter which is what she did in regards to covering her tracks so that Salem won't suspect her of lying. I wouldn't say she kills them to show off how evil she is, she kills them because she simply doesn't like them, and as soon as they served her purpose, she got rid of them. I suppose you could say that's petty but Cinder is a petty person. But I wouldn't say her pettiness makes her any less of a good antagonist since now she's not relying on raw power anymore. Heck, she's basically acting like Salem since her motivation to destroying the gods became less about reuniting with Ozma and more just wanting to spite them.

But the problem is now she and Salem have nobody left to actually help them in their goal, even though Watts was nothing but loyal to Salem and was easily the smartest character in the entire show.

I just think Cinder is a boring villain, from her performance, to her personality, to her motivations, and to her backstory. All of them are just so generic and she was only made a threat because the writers didn’t know how to wrap up the Volume. I just don’t think she’s really worthy of being Salem’s second in command.
