Since the holiday toy drive post is circulating again, I figured this would also be helpful! Food insecurity is such a massive problem in America, in general, and if you have the means to help feed others, I think you should take that opportunity. Here are some other tips:

1. If you’re planning on donating items from your own pantry, please check the expiration dates on the packaging. Think of your donations as gifts to bestow, not castoffs to be rid of. It’s awful to think of people feeling like they got scraps someone else just didn’t want. Everyone deserves dignity with their meals.

2. If you’d rather give money to a food bank, that’s also great since they buy food in bulk and know what items are most wanted/needed!

3. Not everyone has access to appliances like stoves or microwaves or hot plates so if you can donate items that don’t need to be heated up, that would also be greatly appreciated!

People have allergies. Donate keto, vegan, or gluten free (there's a lot of crossover between those three) if you can. Lactose free milk. Gluten free bread or crackers. It's expensive to have food allergies.

Enriched uranium bombs ARE nuclear bombs!

There is no other way to put this. They are using nuclear bombs to bomb Gaza and Lebanon. It's not your typical way of imagining a nuclear weapon but that is exactly what this is! These have ever lasting consequences on both the people and the environment!!

When NATO bombed my country with depleted uranium bombs, my peers and I, only 10yo at the time, have suffered different medical issues but most prominent one being that of thyroid glance disorder which can affect majority of the functions in your body. I was under treatment for a decade. I was then warned the consequences are permanent! About 20 years later, I am gaining signs of hypothyroidism and will most likely have go under treatment for the rest of my life due to deteriorated health! And these are the effects I'm facing with DEPLETED uranium, I can't even picture what Gazans are facing and will have to face WITH THE ENRICHED URANIUM BOMBS!

Can you even imagine being stuck in a place with NO proper diet, clean water or proper shelter, constantly under the stress and having to move while also possibly suffering different medical conditions already, only to be exposed to the radiation of the bombs which will change your life permanently and most likely shorten it?

Ruba was already hospitalized once. Iyad has to buy medication for a type 2 diabetes with inflated prices in Gaza. Meanwhile, Paypal announced on October 7th they will close their campaign in January 2025. AND THEY ARE NOWHERE NEAR THEIR FINAL GOAL YET.

They have to collect AT LEAST $575 DAILY to even hope to reach their final goal in time! Any donation means a lot to them just please keep donating to their cause! People of Gaza are already suffering enough while facing permanent health problems ahead... SO PLEASE DONATE!

This is going at a snail's pace. They only got 5 donations in all of yesterday.

Iyad had to buy 2 boxes of medicine which he needs to live. Ordinarily that might have been very cheap but one of the boxes was $50 USD and the other $70 USD. I'm not sure how much meds like this would cost in the US but from a third world country, especially one in the midst of a genocide, paying $120 USD for just 2 boxes of meds is insane.

Food, specifically flour and vegetables are incredibly pricey as well. Iyad's children are very near malnutritioned right now and they're very young. This trauma will stay with them forever.

Just a few more hours

I know this sounds like the deranged ramblings of a senile old man but I swear it used to be possible to look up information on the internet

Got off a video call with my grandma. Asked her what sort of American foods she was enjoying (my dad flew her in from Korea and she's staying with him in Phoenix rn). She said most of the food isn't too impressive but she's addicted to a specific candy, and when she held up a bag of Werther's Originals I started howling

last night i went to dinner with some friends and it was just - so good. i made people laugh, people made me laugh, everyone loved the dish i baked, i loved the dish my friend cooked. we had fun! we had so much fun. and i came home all aglow with it, just so utterly and wonderfully high off the thrill of spending time with people i like who like me, and i went to bed still wrapped in that love

and then i dreamed about humiliating myself in front of everyone who was ever mean to me in middle school. as if i'm not nearly thirty. jesus fucking wept. and i woke up and i wanted to laugh about how apparently no hurt ever ever ever goes all the way away, at least not for me or for someone like me, not even the small hurts, not even the stupid hurts, not even the shit that happened to you when you weren't even a person yet

but it's okay. you know? it's okay. maybe it doesn't ever fully stop feeling like this but that's a different thing than saying it feels like this forever. we gave my friend gifts at dinner because he's been through the fucking wringer lately, and in the group chat today he told us how much he loves them. he said he didn't know people could love someone like him this much. and maybe that feeling doesn't ever go all the way away either. but it's okay. we get these other feelings too. we get to put all our stupid warm bodies together in a stupid little cold apartment, and we get to make each other dinner and give each other gifts and love each other and get loved back. we're gonna have another dinner soon. next time i'm bringing mac and cheese.

Everyone. Please. Write "fuck." "Damn." "Shit." "Motherfucker." Don't fucking censor. Don't write f*** when you mean fuck. Let's not encourage censorship. Let's recognize when we are participating in censorship and self-censorship. You don't have to censor your words on tumblr. You don't have to censor your stories on AO3. Please. Please. Write out the word "fuck."

If you personally don't like the word? Then there's no need to write it. If you are writing a story and you know the character curses and you don't feel comfortable writing it? Write "Character cursed." No reason to disrupt the writing, infantalize the writing, and create an ugly piece of work by writing "Character said, 'F***!'"

We can all handle the word "fuck." Please, please, just write out "fuck." I don't know what you're trying to get out of "f***" but I promise, it's not going to have the effect you want. If you really hate the word "fuck," feel free to be creative and insert another fun word. Anything but "f***."
