Lyra, my beloved cat of 13 years, passed away this year on Father's Day. She's been by my side through very difficult times and was my little rock of steady and unrelenting love. I struggled a lot drawing this, and struggled a lot posting it, but I know I would've wanted to read a comic like this that validated my grief for her when I lost her.
Wherever you are, Lyra my little summer star, I love you always! Thank you for being the best thing in my life.

In other news, mystery lumps were found on B's leg and they're unsure wtf they could be. Fine needle aspiration told no tales. The "c" word was mentioned, but also could be an inflammatory response. Who knows. Not us! So probably doing an ultrasound tomorrow in addition to her surgery to remove hardware. At least her bones are healing fine. She's a little trooper. I'm fucking tired. We're not made of money.

Do you ever hear someone talk about your breed in a way that makes you grind your teeth? Because I do
It bothers me every time I hear someone refer to JRTs as ‘Jack Russell Terrorists’ because a) I think it is a weird comparison to make and b) why would you want to dissuade people from one of the best small dog breeds ever? And I don’t say that just as a JRT owner but also from the perspective of them being one of Australia’s most popular dogs. Every third person in my town has one. They are equally ranked with dachshunds as far as popular house dog on farms goes.
They are small, they love to Be Involved, they will go on a run with you, they will cuddle on the couch with you, they will play with your kids, they will be nice to older family members, they will come to town with you, they will go on hikes with you, they will road trip, they will stay home, they love to play games and learn tricks, they will be a watch dog, and at the end of it all you can pick them up and hose them off and they are good to go for the next day.
And like… I know their social media identity as a terrible hard to own hell animal is working because every day on this site people tag my posts saying how much they want a Jack Russell but ‘they’re too much’ ‘I’m not the right home for them’ ‘I’m not active enough’ etc
This thing ^ is happiest when she is doing an activity that involves me. She doesn’t care what it is. We could sit on the verandah for four hours and she would be happy about it. She is even happier if we are doing terrier activities but she finds going for a drive just as interesting as anything else. She’s 6kg! She’s ten inches tall! She is easy to entertain.

I'm pretty sure I have a jack russel Chihuahua mix and she's the sweetest thing! Gets spicy sometimes but isn't crazy or insanely active. A huge cuddlebug and wants to always be around me
Super smart and has great hunting instincts. Caught a giant moth once that was terrorizing the house (and dropped it at our feet ALIVE)

Seriously I cannot wait to be done with this crate rest thing with Bubbles. We are doing our best with PT and training, but her personality is not an eager to please motivated dog. She's affectionate, placid, and bouncy, but training is not her Thing. which is fine normally! But unfortunately she has no other outlet since she isn't allowed much exercise and she can't be free with us. It's breaking my heart that we're coming up on 5 months of this. A whole year together and over 1/3 of it stuck in a fucking cage. She's handling it as well as one can imagine, but it does shatter me when she stares at me and Stoli when we're on the couch and she's in her pen. It's why I let her out more to sit with us, even tho ik not supposed to. She is the most loving beast, it kills me that she has to be suffering some from not enough social enrichment for her needs. Ugh 😫😫😫 I just hope I made the right choice with this surgery and that this will all seem like nothing once some time is between us and this event.
