Book Description

The French folk tale, "Cinderella," or "The Little Glass Slipper," was published by Charles Perrault in 1697. A young girl is abused by her father and stepfamily into becoming a slave. As an adult, when the prince vows to marry whoever fits the slipper, one stepsister cuts off her toes and the other cuts off her heel to make the shoe fit. However, blood is found on the shoe and Cinderella is discovered to be the true owner. After the wedding, crows peck out the step-family’s eyes; blinding them. Then, they are banished from the kingdom along with Cinderella’s father.
