I say every time a Republican tries to make out that Donald Trump is a victim because someone tried to shoot him with an assault rifle, let's challenge them on their well-worn stance against gun control legislation. Will they give a damn about the rampant gun violence in this country and the ease with which people can purchase assault-style weaponry now that their wannabe-dictator was threatened by it?

No. No, of course not. Because they're just upset the gun violence in question was targeted at their man, rather than used by their man and his supporters against those people who don't agree with him. Because they're totally fine with any and all kinds of violence so long as they're the ones wielding it to get their way. Either that, or it helps line their pockets and boost their egos, damn however many schools have to get shot up for them to keep their pwecious AK-47's. That's how utterly heartless these people are.

I'll be perfectly honest -- I actively hoped that no one would do something this stupid. As much as I wouldn't feel any sort of sadness if Trump died, I did not want anyone to try to assassinate him, because the last thing I wanted was for Trump to become a Jean-Paul Marat-style martyr of this new Fascistic movement in the GOP. And considering how much these creeps get off on playing the victim card, we really don't need them having any story that they can spin as proof of them and their candidate being "persecuted." I want Trump to die a pitiful, lonely, natural death in jail where he belongs, not by an assassin's bullet. Because now his side has the perfect propaganda it can use to set the hearts of their Kool-Aid-drunk supporters ablaze. Just look at the photos circulated of the event, and you've got MAGA's version of The Death of Marat: an image set to depict a person who became powerful through demanding violent vengeance against those aligned against him politically as some sort of wronged, patriotic saint.

But as I said before -- every time someone tries to act like Trump is a victim, just remember this: Trump supporters don't care if bad things happen. They only care if bad things happen to them, and most especially, to their "Supreme Leader." And they especially hate it if the bad things that happen to them are partially caused by their own words and actions.

Republicans have refused time and again to reinstate the old Federal Assault Weapons Ban that we enacted back in the 90's and that Republicans let expire back in 2004 during the Bush Administration. If they -- Donald Trump included -- hadn't been so in bed with the NRA, the shooter almost certainly would not have had such easy access to the gun that shot Trump. And if it weren't for the Secret Service that protects him -- the government employees that rose through the ranks on merit rather than out of subservience, the way Project 2025 proposes government employees should be selected -- he very likely would've died.

Donald Trump was targeted by gun violence. But he's also an assailant on the democratic values that our country has always been so enamored with, but consistently fails to live up to despite our best efforts. He's hardly a "victim" by any metrics. After all, there were multiple attempts on Adolf Hitler's life too, back in the day.

No matter how much I don't condone the assassination attempt against Trump, he's unworthy of any pity or compassion in the face of this.

APRIL 10, 2023: Four days after being unjustly expelled by racist Republicans in Tennessee, Justin Jones was sworn back into office

He then marched arm-in-arm, back to the Tennessee State House with thousands of cheering constituents and supporters

With his head and fist raised high, Rep. Justin Jones triumphantly returned to the Tennessee Chamber where he reclaimed the seat that voters elected him to

We love to see it.

Hello, college grad that actually wrote an award winning paper on this topic! Here’s some knowledge I’d like to share: There’s actually been studies as to why it’s usually white kids, a large conclusion amongst the criminology community is that those that often have more privileged lives (white kids in our society’s case) are less adept to dealing with stress and denial. Whereas minorities and others are more likely to cope and function normally despite stressors because of the constant stressors that come from systematic racism and/or other platforms of more limited priviledge.

TL;DR: It’s usually a white kid because their privilege incacipated their ability to learn how to handle stress/ denial/ whatever without acting out. The less privileged are done used to the bs and thus typically dont turn to extreme measures as coping mechanisms.

EDIT: I had reblogged this and added a link to the paper (which I should’ve done to begin with,) but it’s probably best I just edit my original reblog and add the link (which I also should’ve just done already.)

Anyway, it can be found fully sourced here.

👀👀👀👀 I like tea spilled with sources and data.

We have watched this conservative political behemoth, with really no equal in conservative politics, we have watched it collapse at breathtaking speed.”

She said its legal status was that of Donald Trump’s charity: very precarious.

“The NRA appears to be very worried about a ever-widening investigation by the attorney general of the state of New York. New York’s Attorney General Letitia James subpoenaed more than 90 current and former member of the NRA’s board … If the NRA’s behavior has been bad enough New York could conceivably revoke its non-profit status and shut it down which is what the state of New York just did with Donald Trump’s charitable foundation this year.”

At any other time this would be the biggest story of the year, she said.

“This would be like a show stopping deal at any other time. The once fearsome NRA, the most powerful entity in conservative Politics, I mean they’re in free fall. Any other time in any other news environment the media would be watching that slow motion car crash endlessly.”

Good riddance.

“The National Rifle Association (NRA) has said it’s suffering from substantial financial issues that could cause the organisation to “be unable to exist”.

In a recent court filing, the powerful organisation that lobbies on behalf of gun makers, owners and campaigns against almost all gun regulations, said it had lost its media insurance coverage due to an aggressive campaign brought on by New York’s Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo. The campaign encouraged companies to cut ties with the gun lobbying group. A lack of liability insurance threatens to shut down the group’s multi-million dollar media entities, including NRATV, its own streaming channel.“

If your argument against gun control goes like this “what if a bad guy has a gun I need one to defend myself” then you’re already stating that a gun is a threat to the safety of those nearby. You’re tickling your ego by thinking you with your gun will be faster and smarter than the bad guy and frankly my life is not worth testing out your bullshit attitude. You already know guns are bad, you just think you with a gun is better. If they shoot you or you shoot them that’s the same number of people killed. You still believe guns are dangerous you just wanna feel cool idk what to tell you champ just stop sniffing the glue.

You put this into words way better than I could have

The amount of people willing to base their ideals on pretending they’re the lead character of an action movie is ridiculous.

To the people marching today, let it be known that you are not marching for freedom.

You march today in favor of either curbing or outright abolishing a right that keeps our government in check.

You march today to hinder right of the scared single mother to be able to equip herself properly for self defense when she walks home at night.

You march today implicitly saying that minorities are better off trusting institutions that have historically brutalized them for their protection rather than them being able to defend themselves.

You are not marching for freedom today, you are marching for tyranny.

I'm sorry...but I think your fear of an out-of-control government is so strong that you are blinded to the dangers of a society -- in this case, gun owners -- left completely unregulated and unchecked. Tyranny can come from more places than just the federal government. It was not the federal government that almost overthrew George Washington during the Whiskey Rebellion, or who called for hundreds to go to the guillotine during the French Revolution -- that was tyranny of the mob. It was not the federal government who made Germany into the Third Reich -- it was the tyranny of the majority persecuting minorities. It was not the federal government who forced children as well as adults to work in unsafe factories without good pay just to line their own pockets -- it was big business: the "robber barons" of the Industrial Revolution.

Not everyone with access to a gun is going to be a responsible gun owner. Hell, not all of those who could be called gun owners right now are responsible or stable! Forgive me, but isn't this we all want -- guns in the hands of healthy, responsible people, rather than criminals? I understand second amendment rights, but if we can take the right to vote away from convicts and restrict our freedom of speech enough that we can't shout "FIRE!" in a crowded theater, why in the world is the second amendment the only one we supposedly can't touch? Particularly when in that very amendment it discusses how the militia (whether an official one or an unofficial one, depending on your intrpretation) must be "well-organized."

Is our government corrupt? Sure. But I'm sorry, there are ways to confront that besides with brute force. If nothing else, that method unnecessarily spills a lot of blood and prompts a lot of tears. And many other countries have instituted gun control and didn't implode immediately afterwards into tyrannical dictatorships -- Japan, the U.K., Canada, Australia -- why are their ideas so radical and terrifying here? Are we not the Great American Melting Pot, where the best ideas and people from all over the world come to make their home?

It seems to me that law-abiding, responsible gun-owners should be on the side of gun control as much as these kids are, for they likewise worry about criminals endangering their families with guns and know how easy it is for them to get those weapons. If one must take tests to drive a car, so as to make sure that only safe drivers are on the road, then why can it not be the same for guns? Wouldn't you be glad to know you were selling your gun to a responsible, licensed person, rather than someone with a criminal record?

Gun control is a large issue. There are many possible solutions to the problem that must be discussed...but there can be no possibility of resolution if one places the second amendment on a heavenly pedestal. The other amendments have had their fair share of regulation over the years, and they've not been shattered forever. The second amendment is more than strong enough to endure, thanks to our American love for our revolutionary history.

Watch Marco Rubio get destroyed by this High School student for accepting the NRA’s blood money.

Look at this man squirm, as he cowardly attempts to justify his legislative inaction about guns. Rubio is a worm in human clothing.

Also, for the record, this young man’s name is Cameron Kasky, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He’s a good, brave young man, and I wish him nothing but happiness.
