Hey, I wanna talk about how we do fandom! I've come to realize that I, personally, tend to differ from many others in that I highly prefer to only engage with a text as it's written, so I don't tend to really like fanon/extremely ooc characterizations and I find it hard to get invested in ships that aren't canon. My way of doing fandom isn't better or worse than anyone else's, but I am curious about how much of a minority I'm in! So:
*We've all seen ships of characters not from the same media and stuff like shipping the concept of ennui with the color blue, okay, I'm asking what you, personally, find compelling!
#I don't need it to be canon or plausible to become canon -- I just need to feel that emotional chemistry between them#there have been plenty of ships I liked that ultimately weren't canon#coughmostofthemgaybcletsbehonestmostmediaarecowardslgbtq-wise#but I just don't vibe with crack ships that much or ships that are built just on#'oh I like both these characters or their archetypes and/or think they're hot let's have them bang'#I do like disney crossovers where two characters from different movies are shipped -- again -- when they seem to fit together#like okay could I see someone like jasmine from aladdin falling for someone like miguel from the road to el dorado? yeah!#could I see someone like jane from tarzan with someone like milo from atlantis: the lost empire?#or someone like esmeralda from hond in a relationship with someone like goliath from gargoyles? totes#personal#polls#shipping
