A Song of the Gods - Chapter 5
A fast knock to the door startles Alyx from Apollo’s chest, she had almost fallen asleep listing to him ramble. She looks at Apollo questioning if she should allow them in, his help was a shrug as he laid back down.
“it’s me Hermes Alyx.” The quiet voice of Hermes could be heard from behind the door.
“Enter!” she shouted bounding off the bed excitedly.
Hermes barely slipped past the door before Alyx trapped him with the tighter hugs she could muster.
”oh? Soon as Hermes arrives I’m left out to dry.” Apollo fake cries as hermes half hearty glares at his brother, his hand gently stroking the top of Alyxs head.
” Sorry brother, but I think my company is far superior to yours.” Hermes playfully jested as Apollo moves to leave the room.
”I’d hate to interrupt your alone time,” Apollo says as he opens the door.
”thank you, Apollo,” Alyx says head still buried in Hermes chest. Apollo gives a wink before closing the door making his way towards the exit of this building. When he notices a large dark figure approaching.
”My dear” Hermes starts pulling away from Alyx only to shift in one swift movement to the bed. ”I think this might more comfortable here if you intend to clutch to me until time ends.” he chuckled pulling her to lay with him on the bed.
”I don't want you to leave me with him.” she quietly spoke fiddling with the clasp that held his cloak on.
”It isn't my choice to leave you, I worry that Ares would harm you to spite me.” He says taking her hand and kissing it.
”how do you know he hasn't already.” she sighs closing her eyes. Hermes looked at her with pained eyes as he brought his hand to cup her chin.
”Then there will be no place where he can hide from me.” Hermes states as places a gentle kiss on her lips and pulls her under him.
”Haven’t you done enough damage brother?” Apollos states pushing his hair behind his shoulders. Ares scowls at his younger brother as he moves to walk past, but is stopped by his brother’s body.
”This isn't going to end well for you brother, love is something that is supposed to come freely. Not be taken by force .” Apollo said glaring back at Ares.
”You shouldn't talk about things above you!” Ares growled and shoved Apollo back. ”You whore about with anything that even looks your way.” He knew he should have brought his hammer. ” is that what you are doing? Leaving from her chambers?!”
”I’m not like you Ares.” Apollo dusting off his shoulder. ”I don't go after those who are so clearly in love with someone else.”
” I honestly doubt that, besides you've taken after father in that regards.” ares states with a smug expression.
”says the one attempting to take what isn't his, another of fathers qualities.” Apollo smirked, ”you know this isn't going to end well brother. No matter how much you love then if they don't love you, it can never work out.”
”Move aside, or I'll make you.” Ares growls not wishing to acknowledge the comments from Apollo.
” or what? This isn't exactly your domain and nor do I think Alyx wishes to see you.” Apollo sneers at him.
Ares growls and takes a swing at Apollo, who saw the punch coming and easily dodged.
”if it's a fight you want brother” Apollo used a flower vase and threw it at Ares, both to Ares and Apollo's surprise it had hit the good of war. ”then it’s a fight you’ll get!”
Hermes lay on top of Alyx feeling utterly defeated, here he was head in the crook of her neck gently nuzzling into her unsure of how he could prevent his monster of a brother from taking her away from him. Then a ridiculous thought appears in his head.
“Let us run away,” he says lifting himself off her as she gazes into his eyes, she knew that he wasn’t joking they had the shine and the determination they get when he’s speaking passionately and truly about something.
“Runaway?” She questioned, “Where would we go?”
“Anywhere, far from here!” he says taking her hands in his. “As long as we are together, I do not care.”
She smiles, she wants that hope, but she as well as he knows the fate of those who try to run from their lives among the gods especially those who had important duties to fulfil.
“As much as I want to do that, you know it won’t just be Ares who hunts us if we do.” her voice fades to a whisper as she looks down at their hands, Hermes is about to speak when a loud crash followed by the sound of flesh pounding into flesh. Alyx is the first to her feet but not the first out of the door as Hermes rushes to bear witness to the chaos that has befallen the corridor of Alyxis home.
