How Many Kids Do They Want? LoTR Edition
This is just a headcanon set I like to think about because I love little ones & think all of the characters would make great parents in their own way 🥰 I definitely am going to expand on this in the future but for now enjoy!
Aragorn: What does 'take out' mean?
Merry: Food.
Legolas: Dating
Eowyn: Murder
Gimli: IT CAN MEAN ALL THREE IF YOU'RE NOT A COWARD.
“Never thought I’d die fighting side by side with an elf.”
“What about side by side with a friend?”
“Aye, I could do that.”
One more try to draw something with colored pencils. I found out that elves in colored pencils look extra kitschy.
The battle of Helm's Deep.
What do you think they're saying to each other?
While I was doing this I imagined legolas worried about gimli because of something that happened in battle but I'd like to hear opinions!
(legolas is on his knees, in case it wasn't obvious)
Itty bitty Gimli!
Their roles are interchangeable tho

Notes: Lord of the Rings Character set in Erebor (Durin’s!Live au)
Author’s Note: My first ever Gimli fic😂 I still count this as Lord of the Rings even though it’s set in Erebor after BotFA.
I was re-watching the Lord of the Rings movies for the umpteenth time for the other day, and it struck me that Gimli never makes any kind of action or says anything to indicate he is fighting the call of the ring. Hell, in the council meeting he tries to destroy it with his axe, useless though that proves.
And that realization made me start to wonder about how much Gloin told his son about Thorin’s gold sickness as the years went by. Was young Gimli told tales of caution by his father, warning him to never allow something like gold or gems to hold that kind of sway over him. Did he watch the grief of the company and promise himself he would not fall to the kinds of sickness that had proved to cause so much pain for so many people?
And that kind of thought lead to me wondering what else Gloin told Gimli. Did he tell him about the courage of Bilbo, about his quiet strength? Did he ever visit Bilbo? Did Gimli ever meet him? Was he constantly watching the hobbits for the quiet, selfless courage and loyalty his father spoke of? Was he a little annoyed that whenever the hobbits did something exciting or brave he was apart from them, so he never was able to see the same subtle fierceness? Was he constantly worried one of them would prove too eager to rush into danger but unthinking of the realities of it?
I have no doubt the company told tales of how special and brave and loyal hobbits were to anyone who asked and sometimes those who didn’t. But how much of that shaped who Gimli was? How much of what we see from him is pure and utter Gimli, and how much is stories and promises to himself?
Small brain: Gloin is Gimli’s father, his mother is unknown
Big brain: Gloin is Gimli’s mother, his father is unknown
Galaxy brain: Gloin is Gimli’s mother & has a wife; Gimli has another, unknown mother
