Drabble time!
38. “You fainted…straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes.”
As you can already tell, this was a stressful time for me.
We’d already winnowed to the closest healer, with Mor and Cassian in tow (we didn’t have enough time to contact the others) and things were just a flurry of excitement. You know, what others call excitement, or what I call panic mode.
“FEYRE ARE YOU COMFORTABLE? ARE YOU COMFORTABLE? CASSIAN GET HER ANOTHER BLANKET, MOR, FLUFF THAT PILLOW, MY MATE IS IN LABOR AND SHE NEEDS TO BE COMFORTABLE--”
Mor put her hands up in surrender and got straight to fluffing Feyre’s pillow while I went to her other side and began massaging her shoulders.
“You feeling okay, darling? Do you need some water or some food, maybe I could get a fiddler-”
Feyre had an alarmed expression for some reason but she shook her head. “Rhys, I’m fine. Just calm down. Nothing’s even happened yet. I’m completely fin-OW OW OW!” she began squeezing my hand with a death grip and my eyes went wide.
“HEALER HEALER MY MATE IS IN PAIN MY MATE IS IN PAIN!”
“RHYS, SHUT THE FUCK UP IT’S JUST A CONTRACTION!”
I shot her a death glare and looked at the healer who’d finally turned after my attempts which apparently failed to get his attention. “Is she okay?”
“Rhysand, I understand this is your first child, but you’re going to have to lower your voice or I’ll have Cassian escort you away.”
I narrowed my eyes at Cassian and he simply smirked in response and shrugged his smug little shoulders.
“I’ll try my best,” I promised, though knew there was no way I would let anything happen to my mate, and if I needed to scream, I full well would.
“It’s time!” The healer announced while donning thin gloves of plastic.
All my nerves in my body jumped and I scurried from Feyre’s side to peeking over the doctor’s shoulder.
“So, you have actually delivered babies before right--”
A slap to the face brought me back and my brows furrowed. “What happened?”
“You fainted…straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes.”
I glared at him and quickly got to my feet, dashing to Feyre’s side and not daring to take one look at what I’d seen moments ago.
Feyre looked up at me, and when our eyes met, everything else seemed to... evaporate. It was just the two of us. Clutching hands. Breathing hard. Hoping and praying. Just the two of us, and I’d never felt anything like this since our wedding day. Like we could conquer the night, the world, the universe.
I pressed a kiss to her brow and murmured, “You’ve got this, darling.”
We both shed tears as we held our newborn daughter, in our arms
There you go! That’s the first one, I’ll write two more, then I’ll do the rest tomorrow night!
