I kinda…fell out of writblr for a bit. So if you could reblog this with blog ref’s and/or links to wip pages, yours or others!

Preferably fantasy of any kind, horror. Or anything by lgbt authors

Or also! Link or tag me in works you are particularly proud of!

!!!!! Thank you Isabella!!!

I’d also recommend:

@writeblrfantasy @lanawritesalittle and @rhikasa!!! And if you consider superheroes part of fantasy, @keen2meecha, as well!!!!

Hello, @spencecreates! Besides my own works and the ones @nothingisliteral and @magic-is-something-we-create have already recommended, I also recommend off the top of my head:

Last I checked, @roselinproductions is a writblr who was working on a list of trans and nonbinary writblrs on here! Another good place to find other fantasy writers is @flashfictionfridayofficial.

Heyo folks! My dash is looking pretty empty of writeblr original content lately, so I’d love if you could:

A) reblog this post if you’re a writeblr that posts/reblogs original content so I can follow you (if I’m not already)

and/or

B) reblog this post and link me to a few favourite original content posts of your own or of other writeblrs and I’ll check them out!

Thank you so much! I hope you have a wonderful day~ 💖

Hello! New writeblr here. Here are some recommendations!

Most of these writers also have other WIPs I love, so I recommend checking them out too! I also have a library with more writeblrs linked there. Since my tumblr is only about a week old, all the people I’ve met have been fairly active recently!

Oh, I can vouch for Ada! They have fantastic stuff and lots of puns, 10/10 would recommend. @ellatholmes and @writingamongthecoloredroses also have some great stuff and do all of the people listed on Ada’s post there!

My works can be found here and here!

Theme Songs of the World taglist

So, I probably should have made this post before officially posting my first song for the series buuut… you guys know me and my scattered-ass brain.

Anyway!!!

I’m going to be postiiing 11 more lyrics for this series. I’ll be tagging everyone to their own lyrics, but is there anyone that wants to be tagged to the whole series?

I don’t know how frequently I’ll be posting these, btw. It might be a couple times a day, it might be once a week. Just depends on how inspired I get and how quickly I get the information needed to write the songs.

Anyway, tagging the people that I’m writing about to see if they wish to be added to the taglist. If you do, reblog this post.

If you do not want to be tagged but you did see this post (and you’re part of the series), please like this post so I know you at least saw this.

Alright tagging those involved:

And I believe that’s everyone! Anyone is welcome to take part in this taglist, but I’m just tagging these people because they’re actually part of the series. Thank you, everyone! And if you’ve decided you don’t wish to be part of the series anymore, feel free to message me or send me an ask! There’s no shame in bowing out, my friends.

Thank you and have an awesome weekend!

Writing Roundup | Lessons from Editing and Beta-Reading

On the 18th of January, I opened up my document after almost three months away from it, in which time a team of wonderful beta-readers had been reading, commenting, and providing me with lots of incoherent screams and keysmashes. I’d had some sneaking suspicions about what needed fixing in the novel, but I was too deeply involved. I needed some people to look at it objectively and give me their opinions. It’s a nerve-wracking thing to do, letting a bunch of near-strangers loose on something you love - but necessary. The amount of Important Plot Revelations I’ve had since reading their comments is staggering.

Here’s how I’ve done so far in the editing process for When Dealing With Wolves, and two of the key lessons I’ve learned along the way.

LESSON ONE: loving something isn’t always enough

I’m a big believer in the doctrine that you write what you love, because you love it. If you don’t enjoy writing then there isn’t any point, right? Right. But! Your readers must be able to understand the story you’re telling, otherwise they won’t see the point in continuing to read. This is probably the lesson I’ve struggled with the most, and reading my beta’s comments has brought it home with the force of a battering ram. My problem is that characters spawn in my head at an alarming rate, and I just… I really love them, okay? They’re my babies. I want them all to have an equal chance to shine. Unfortunately, giving all characters a spotlight can get in the way of telling a story, even in a character-driven novel like WDWW. To put this lesson into action, here’s a paragraph I had to cut:

Nat turned away. Her nostrils flared and her teeth sunk into her lower lip as she swept the loose snarls of her hair away from her face. She stilled like that, one hand on the small of her back and another on her stomach. The loose sleep-shirt she wore hid any sign of a swell, but Aethren knew. Pa had been visiting Nat a lot of late, his medical bag poorly hidden beneath his cloak.

My first self-published book!

Summary:

An average day in Emily Gardner's life includes working as a freelance Spellcaster, tending to her garden full of magical herbs, and training her niece, Victoria, how to cast spells under the moonlight.
Her daily routine is shattered, however, when one day the wind disappears, and the spirit of the sea declares war on the spirit of the moon. Emily must now choose between her duty as a Spellcaster of the Moon and her responsibility to protect her family.

Please reblog if you can <3

Prompt #1971

“A thief stealing from a party. How very original.”

The thief merely smiled, tipped the ring on their finger to reveal a poison capsule. An empty poison capsule. “Thirty minutes,” they said. “Better get praying.”

“I haven’t had anything to drink.”

They shook their head, eyes glittering. “I never said praying for yourself.”

Childhood Lessons

[[ trigger warning: trauma, abuse, sexual abuse, child sexual abuse, self-harm ]]

Lesson number one

Don't

Hurt

People

i understand where they were coming from

my loved ones wanted me

To be a good person

Wanted me to be better than they were

Wanted me to never hurt anyone else

But tell me

Tell me what purpose that served

Except teaching me to take it

Like a man

Tell me

What purpose did this lesson serve

Except to teach me

To direct all this anger that he gave me

At myself

Which brings me to lesson number two

i deserve suffering

So was it any wonder

When i learned that bleeding

Took the pain away

When he stopped hurting me

i had to start hurting myself

To make up for it

Lesson number three

I am dirty

And broken

And no one could love me except him

But I started taking extra classes

I became self-taught

To escape all the damange

These childhood lessons had caused

So

Lesson number four

i am not broken

i am not dirty

i remember learning to capitalize i

my teacher said

That it was because i

am important

Years later, i am still trying to learn this

Still trying to teach myself that i

Am important

Lesson number five

I am important

So you're damn right

I will fight back

I will yell

I will scream from every roof top

That no one

Gets to hurt me

The way he did

Or the way my mother did

Or the way I did

No one gets to make me feel less

Than fucking phenomenal

Lesson number seven

On the days I do not

Feel quite so grand

I am still worthy of love

And I will get better

One day

Some day

Lesson number eight

You still

Have so much to learn

So never

Be afraid

To not know

You are as much a work in process

As this poem

Thank you

To everyone

Who reminds me that

it is a small hope i have, maybe. but little birds with little wings still master the art of flying. isn't a tiny flame still light, even if it's trembling. like this, my love, with tiny steps. one day a drowning has turned to dancing. it is a small hope to tuck beneath my tongue and carry with me. but it is a hope, and that's something.
