D’nag (pronounced Dee-nah) is a scatterbrained trekadisk and part of the same glaring as Rhys, Hecate and Nyxx. A tan and spotted smaller cat with mismatched eyes, some have commented he’s defective, as all trekadisk share the same eye colour, with the third eye being different. Nyima caught him barehanded when he launched himself at her, scratching her arms just to make sure she understood it wasn’t a willing capture. He’s known for his contrary nature and faulty telekinesis.

It’s derp cat! I love him!

Guardians of Las

Nyima Uv Dra C’Deney:  Standing at an even 5'8, which is average height for her people, Nyima has a varying skin tone in shades of blue, from a rich, deep blue to a cooler ice blue. Her coloring is affected by the weather, growing darker in hue in the winter and lighter in the summer. She has a slender frame, similar to that of a distance runner, only less defined and with a bit more fat on her, giving her some feminine curves. There are two larger scars on her body; one on her back curving from her spine down to her right hip and one on outside of her right thigh.  Her face is oval-shaped with a wider forehead tapering down to her chin and with a slight prominence to her cheekbones, but they wouldn’t be considered overly defined. She has a very stubborn looking jawline, an average mouth and an aquiline nose. Her eyes are almond-shaped, a very clear, light blue and ringed with a slightly darker shade on the outer edge of the iris. These are framed by sculpted eyebrows which tend to arch whenever she’s doubtful about something.  Her hair is just past her shoulders and midnight-blue in colour, which she wears in a braided style.

I saw this Create Your OC challenge floating around for this maker and thought it was cute! They didn’t have the right skin tone or clothing for some of them, but I think Abaddon and the girls turned out ok. L to R, from the top down; Vyxen, Zercey, Scyanatha, Nyima, Raemina and Abaddon. <3 Some of the fabulous characters from the Illthdar book series!

The Boss - Scyanatha Dubhgelach

A princess of the Unseelie Court and veteran of several wars, Scyanatha demands respect wherever she goes. As a native of Illthdar, she’s likely the one with the information you need. The unquestioned leader of her team, she more than has enough bite to back up her bark. Messing with her is ill advised, though if you amuse her she may be lenient.

The Quiet One - Sozo Abaddon

Their quietness is not to be taken as a sign of weakness, Abaddon likes to avoid conflict but will not hesitate to throw themselves into the thick of battle when called for. Forever fighting against the darker parts of themselves, they try to be good when they can. But if crossed, you would not live long enough to regret it.

The Warrior - Nyima uv dra C’deney

Summoned to Illthdar under mysterious circumstances, Nyima arrived prepared for battle. A ice elemental sworn into the service of a celestial organization, she has seen many wars and many worlds. She does not tolerate cowardice and will scarcely hesitate to create a knife of ice with which to slay her enemies.

The Alpha - Magnilla Thies

Arriving in Las when her clan allied with the Order, Magnilla attached herself to the team she felt needed her vast array of skills the most. A werewolf from a long standing bloodline, if you forget what she’s capable of she will be happy to remind you.

The Con - Vyxen Allaway

A half-blood from earth, Vyxen fell into Illthdar by accident and has been looking for a way out ever since. She’s perky and colorful, which fools people into believing she’s innocent. She’s not. A thief with a friendly demeanor, it’s wise not to trust what she says.

The Runaway - Zercey Stamos

Another half-blood who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, Zercey was attempting to run from her problems when she found herself in Illthdar. Now with more problems than ever, she’s struggling to find her footing in this new and illogical world. What she has found is that in Las, complications are not so easily escaped.

Some fan aesthetics for my favorite team from the book Guardians of Las by @illthdar! I love these characters and I’m so excited to see what kind of nonsense (*cough* horrors *cough*) they get into next!

Guardians of Las Chapter Teaser 18

From chapter eighteen, Guardians of Las, first book of the Illthdar series:

For Aetumuh of Ice, Nyima uv dra C’deney—a v’neketyh from the planet Vaosynlr—the course to Illthdar was more straightforward than others. Though the sense and reason of her arrival was not. Tall and slender, with blue-toned skin and dressed in a white camisole and ribbon skirt, she appeared in a crack of thunder prepared for battle. “Cissuhan?”

No one came from within the forest to meet her. Not that day or any since.

After some weeks spent roaming the forest and coast, overhearing grunts, clicks and trilling that meant nothing, her luck further soured. A group of warriors accosted her. With no common language to demand answers, she had to defend herself.

Ramming an elbow into the cheek of a short one, she brought a knee into the stomach of another.

Harsh cries and commands sounded. Men and women formed a circle, preventing her escape.

No! Leave me alone! She tried to flee.

Sticky ropes appeared from inside the sleeves of one. He lashed her arms, bound her legs. Pulled.

She resisted. Go away!

Another wrapped a length around his arm. A hard and sudden tug.

Off balance, Nyima fell to the ground. She turned her head, spitting dirt.

A tall man in plaid, with two-toned hair and silver eyes looked down.

She couldn't break the ropes. Struggled to gain her feet.

The man dropped, driving his knee into her back and pinning her. He spat a command. Body language said he wanted her to stop.

She couldn't. She had to fulfil her duty. “Fru yna oyi?! Fra’na ecso Cissuhan?” Who are you? Where is my master? When this failed to produce anything besides nonsensical gibberish she tried threats, then curses. “Oyi’ddylg sa: Efemm tacdnuo oyi! Syo oyi c’fymmuf haa’tma puhac yhtea luikrehk!” How dare you attack me! May you swallow fish bones and die choking!

Like most stories, it was best to start with, “Once upon a time…”

- Guardians of Las by Rachel Garcia

I’m dabbling in aesthetic making and a friend posed a color challenge. Make aesthetics based on only a few colors, the first being white, cream, gold and grey. It was harder than I imagined. But a fun challenge and what better subjects than my favorite team from my absolute favorite book?

What colors should I do next?

A Sure Thing

Here’s another mini story to go with the awesome art @tiravi made for me ^=^ Characters from this story belong to the Guardians of Las book series by @illthdar Other short stories + pretty art Scyeth: https://silver-wield.tumblr.com/post/178247041576/too-hot-to-handle Lercey: https://silver-wield.tumblr.com/post/179090443186/a-fantasia-moment

In a corner of Las marketplace a crowd gathered. The man in charge of things was Bracken: a pipe smoking unicorn, who always viewed everyone with suspicion. His salt and pepper mane was combed back from his forehead, though a lock still flopped forward every time he leant over a ledger, where he jotted down wagers. He wore a white and orange long tunic, which could be easily slipped out of to change form from biped to quadruped with the minimum of fuss.

Acolytes placed bets on anything from which new recruits would survive training during the harvest influx, to who would threaten to fling themselves off the retaining wall next. It was a distraction and way of pushing the flow of gold through the city, while depleting the Acolytes’ reserves. The less coin they had, the more reliant they were on Las for security.

None of that was of any real concern to Bracken, as long as people paid up on time and didn’t complain.

“What exactly is the point of this?”

“Fun.”

“How is losing money fun?”

“It – I – look, it just is.”

“You don’t sound very sure.”

“It’s less fun now you’ve pointed that part out to me.”

The woman’s chuckle was low pitched and mellow.

“You promised to try a thing I like, so stop throwing common sense all over it.”

Bracken was already in the process of shaking his head as Nyima and Tundra appeared from the crowd. “What can I do for you?”

“Toshi reminded me I’m owed from before Solstice,” Tundra replied, single dark eyebrow raising. “Bet you thought I forgot.”

“I never wager,” Bracken replied with a standard line. “However, you would be right.” It was well-known among the Acolytes that Tundra had a memory like a bucket made of tissue paper.

“What are people placing money on?” Nyima questioned, leaning forward to look at the pattern of squiggles in his ledger – curiosity alone sparking the action, since she was illiterate.

“Name something,” Bracken replied with a shrug.

Nyima looked at Tundra, but all he did was echo the action and add a smile to it. “What does Jingyi bet on?” she said, changing tact.

“Nothing special,” Tundra said, moving forward and slapping his hand down on the book before Bracken could turn a page. “You could wager on next year’s recruits. There’s some murmurs about them already.”

Nyima moved in front of him and placed her hand on his chest, to urge him back, but all he did was put his arm around her waist to hold her close. “I would like to know,” she said, keeping her attention fixed in front of her.

Tundra took his other hand away from the ledger and hooked his thumb in his pocket, saying in a casual way, “Sure, okay.” His sky blue eye narrowed on the unicorn in warning, whose own marbled-blue ones rolled back.

He wasn’t intimidated. “Yes, there must be – oh look, here’s the bet you placed on last year’s recruits.”

Not that one!”

Nyima levelled him with a suspicious look. “Why not that one?”

Bracken puffed on his long-stemmed pipe, to try and hide the need to laugh. “I expect it’s because – ”

“No reason,” Tundra replied, a broad and insincere smile on his face. “Right, Bracken?”

Bracken coughed and spluttered, “Of course!” Maybe he didn’t want a trained and deadly assassin angry at him? He then met Nyima’s gaze and reassessed which of the pair he didn’t want to upset. “Because he put money on you to place well in the rankings and lost.”

Tundra shut his eye and groaned quietly. “Thanks.” He opened it to see Nyima looking at him, an amused smile tilting her lips up. “What?”

“I hope you didn’t lose too much money over that,” she said in a mild voice. “I expect our group would have done better if we had been better able to work as a team.”

Tundra blinked, surprised she wasn’t cross. “Yeah, I guess individual talents and egos make it hard to mesh right away. The guys and I had a tough time to start.”

“Really? What happened?”

Nyima and Tundra turned away from Bracken and left the gambling area, as he went into a long, detailed story about the time his team was newly formed and they were sent to a far, forest village full of Oreads to collect a shipment of charmed cloak pins.

Bracken watched the couple, shaking his head at the fact Tundra hadn’t collected his winnings for the fifth time.
