Coco Theory/Headcanon *SPOILERS*

After Hector left, Imelda had Coco and the rest of her family use her maiden name, Rivera, instead of Hector’s last name so she could completely cut him out. At the end of the film, the tour guide calls Hector “Hector Rivera,” since we don’t know Hector’s last name (or the tour guide just assumed that’s what his name was). This would be an ironic, rare instance where a husband would be referred to using the wife’s last name.
