something they don’t tell you about being autistic is that every character you write WILL end up autistic/autistic-coded whether you like it or not

See, I feel like I kinda missed out on something here. Because I WAS 12 in 2014 AND I had a crush on Dipper when I was first watching the show. But I don’t think I was keeping up with the show when Sock Opera first aired, I think I got back into it in like late 2014 or early 2015 but I don’t fully remember. Also I am asexual. That adds another layer to it I think.

Yes I’m looking at them disrespectfully. I’m also looking at them asexually. They can coexist.

I want to tell you all that this post is like directly inspired by this comic of Jonathan Sims (a canonically asexual character who is probably also sex-repulsed) “looking (dis)respectfully” at Martin Blackwood breaking a zip tie by flexing and it was so relatable to me and some of my not-quite sexual flustered feelings that I feel sometimes that I made a whole post about it

I’m starting to see parallels between the two!!

We have the closed off, mistrustful, asexual, green based main character who wants to help people but accidentally ends up hurting some indirectly due to a higher power that they momentarily viewed as an mentor before realizing they are evil and killing them, and also being used as a symbol of power by a greater evil despite not wanting the power and influence that comes with it

And then we have the soft boy persona love interest that was in love with the mc from the beginning but didn’t think they would get a chance with them until they went through some very traumatic stuff together and took down an oppressive power side by side even though there were some points where they weren’t (due to mind control and being an avatar of the lonely) Also I’m sure Martin likes baking and Peeta likes tea

And they both did the whole Romeo and Juliet complex of “we die together before dying alone” (poison berries and panopticon)

AND THEY BOTH GET HAPPY ENDINGS (please just let me have this. Please. I’m begging you just let me live in peace)
