Every night after work Scully comes over to the Unremarkable House. She and Mulder follow up on leads and do arm chair detective work to find William. One day she just stays.

Scully puts her head on Mulder's shoulder with tears in her eyes, heartbroken. The world is colorless.
Scully: (whispers) I love you Mulder.
Mulder: (lets his head rest on hers) I love you too Scully.
They sit in silence from then on and slowly all the color comes back into their world.
