Limmy deleted best tweet of all time I'm so mad
Never mind the “Who shot first?” stuff; THIS is the defining moment of the Han Solo character:
Everyone else was just like: “Oh, fuck: It’s Vader!” and standing around in shock and terror when Vader was revealed. Even Chewie.
Most people, I suspect, would have that reaction.
Meanwhile, Han’s first reaction, instinctively, in less than a second, was to grab a gun and try to flat-out end the guy.
He failed, of course. But God Damn if you can’t appreciate the effort.
Also, he grabs his girl’s hand. Not only is he going to end Vader, he’s going to do so while reassuring the woman he loves that this monster who tortured her won’t hurt her again as long as he’s there to do something about it.
The point of this scene:
Han was nothing to Vader. Not really. Han was just a normal, average guy. Vader didn’t think too much of him.
“I have superpowers; you don’t!”
But then: doesn’t Han show more love, affection, guts and courage in this moment than any Jedi warrior ever could?
Thus, Vader is shown up.
Attempting to kill an evil wizard with a regular gun is one of the most Han Solo things ever. I don’t think most people would even bother trying, because you can’t just shoot Darth Vader, right? Of course not. But Han’s gonna goddamn try it anyway.
Yeah, basically’ Han tried.
Sometimes that’s all you can ever ask of someone.
Just one of many reasons I love this man
With Han, you never have to wonder, “Why didn’t he just shoot them?” Whenever you’d think that, he shoots them.
Han Solo is a practical soul and if he’s got the chance to just shoot them he’s gonna take it
Top Gun Maverick takes place in Fall of 2019.
More exactly October and November, given how Mach 9 is listed as the 22nd of the month and on the 31st we can see on the calendar it says Halloween airshow. Meaning it is October.
Also most calendars in the US start on sundays, so the only year within the range of recent years that matches is 2019. The other choices would be 2013 or 2024. 2019 is the most logical choice.
This is fantastic research and problem solving, attention to detail I wish I saw more of in a fandom in which I recently saw an entire fic written and posted with the misconception that Top Gun is about the US Army. (I see Air Force not infrequently, but at least that's a branch of the military known for aviation that does, in fact, have fighter pilots because it does, in fact, fly fighter jets.)
However.
I'm sorry, but I have to set all my TGM fics and headcanons in the wrong year, or I will die in the Swamp of Sadness.
You are right. I am wrong. But bipolar disorder wins this round.
What would your pilot callsign be?
It's Whiplash. Capable of great speed, force, and accuracy, but also volatile, difficult to control, and (literally) bipolar.
Like a lot a lot.
Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) are impulse spenders. They spend because it feels good!
Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) are practical spenders. They’re generally frugal and spend because that’s the only way to get what they want.
Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) are relational spenders. They spend on the people in their lives, or because of peer pressure.
Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) are emotional spenders. They spend to make themselves feel better.
Those having earth deficiency are not naturally attuned to the physical world, their bodies, or to the limitations and requirements of survival in the material plane. Therefore, they can be really irrational, impractical, and spaced out. Such a person tends to be immature; they don’t grow up and and don’t know how to deal with the harsh realities of life. This lack of contact with the material world and with the physical dimension of reality can lead to the person feeling totally out of place in this world, with no grounding to provide them with support and solidity in their efforts to express themselves. They often feel rootless, like they have no direction, doesn’t fit into any niche in society’s structure, and often has trouble finding a life’s work that is satisfying. However, lack of earth can have some very beneficial effects; these particular people accept no limitations to what is possible, either spiritually or in their creative efforts. The imagination can run wild, and this can at times lead to fruitful results, but only if the individual has at least learned to accept the basic requirements of earthly living. It may be useful to mention here that, although one may lack earth sign emphasis in his chart, strong aspects with Saturn can in many ways off-set the problematical side of this imbalance.
Individuals with fire excess tend to be overly active, restless, and overly concerned with making something happen in the world. This can be manifested as them burning themselves out. An excess of fire denotes a very passionate, vain, confident person with a love of exaggeration, pomp and grandeur. At best, those attuned strongly to fire are self-motivated go-getters, and often successfully start and promote new enterprises, projects, and idealistic ventures that demand tremendous dedication, courage, and energy. At worst, they are foolhardy, wild, turbulent, combative, and reckless. They can also be very primitive, simpleminded, basic, or crude and lack sensitivity or refinement. This impulsiveness, self-centeredness, and unrestrained desire to act directly at all costs inevitably leads to problems in dealing with others. This could be off-set if there is a good deal of water or air in the chart.
My emotions include:
