The reverse lightsaber grip across various Star Wars media
A Test of Courage | by Justina Ireland Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith #I NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT STAR WARS GETS EIGHT THOUSAND TIMES FUNNIER #WHEN YOU CONSIDER HOLDING SOMEONE’S LIGHTSABER = HOLDING THEIR UNDERWEAR #THAT ANAKIN IS SORT OF LOSING HIS UNDERWEAR AS HE SPEEDER HOPS ACROSS CORUSCANT #THAT OBI-WAN HAS TO PICK UP ANAKIN’S UNDERWEAR IN MID-AIR AS HE’S FLYING PAST #THAT OBI-WAN TOSSES HIS UNDERWEAR TO ANAKIN AS HE FIGHTS DOOKU #THAT OBI-WAN PICKS UP ANAKIN’S UNDERWEAR SO THAT HE CAN ONE DAY PASS IT ALONG TO LUKE #THERE IS NO WAY IN WHICH THIS IS NOT SO MUCH FUNNIER THAN I COULD POSSIBLY SAY #HELP I’M CRYING
OK, but that makes so many interactions between Obi-Wan and Cody hilarious as well.
cody finding obi-wan’s underwear wherever he goes is this a seduction lost in translation or is obi-wan a bit slutty (via @piepeloe) IT MAKES THIS PARALLEL EIGHT THOUSAND TIMES FUNNIER, TOO:
STOP FLINGING YOUR UNDERWEAR ALL OVER THE PLACE, YOU TWO
Does this mean that General Grievious is a panty snatcher or
Everyone else go home because nothing is going to make me laugh harder than panty snatcher Grievous waving Obi-Wan and Anakin’s underwear in their faces.
How this got me thinking of Jedi in thongs, I’ll never know 😂
This also means Cody has a thong clip on his utility belt.
people forget that kyber crystals are sentient on their own. they hold memories and can remember intimate interactions with their owners. its why meditating with your crystal is important so that its only experiences won’t be in the heat of battle as their Jedi fights for their life.
Yes! I love this about kyber crystals. It was so fun to write about Ziva’s lightsaber reacting to her touch and missing her in When the World Stopped Making Sense. I’d love to explore more about this aspect of kyber crystals.
Blue lightsabers were wielded by and closely associated with the Jedi. This was the most common lightsaber colour, representing righteousness and bravery.
Red lightsabers were wielded mainly by the Sith and other dark side Force-sensitives, such as the Inquisitorius during the reign of the Galactic Empire. During the construction of the lightsaber, the wielder would partake in a process known as bleeding; pouring negative emotions into the kyber crystal and bending it to their will by ways of the Force, which corrupted the crystal and gave the lightsabers their distinctive red colour. Even though any kyber crystal could be used in the bleeding process, they were often taken from fallen Jedi.

“The only child of Han Solo and Leia Organa. Ben Solo undergoes training at Luke Skywalker’s Jedi academy in the years following the Empire’s defeat. Yet despite his love for his nephew, Luke can sense a terrible darkness. in Ben’s future. Alarmed by his Force premonition, Luke ignites his lightsaber while Ben sleeps. Accounts differ on what happens next, but Ben interprets his uncle’s actions as an attack and lashes out in response. By doing so, Ben is utterly consumed by the dark side.
Ben Solo’s lightsaber is depicted only briefly in Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi and shown to have a blue energy blade. Closer inspection of the hilt reveals notable similarities to the red-bladed cross guard lightsaber wilded by Ben after he reinvents himself as Kylo Ren. In truth, Ben’s saber and the crystal within become the structural basis for Kylo’s fire-blackened broadsword.
The finned grips on the hilt of Ben’s saber are similar to those found on Darth Vader’s lightsaber with additional flaring at the base. With geometric lines and squared-off corners, Ben’s lightsaber shows a similar style to his mother Leia’s saber, and almost resembles a medieval watchtower when stood on end.”
