Aaron Tveit is ready to defy gravity by flying to the Land Down Under for a special concert honoring legendary lyricist and composer, Stephen Schwartz. The event – aptly called Defying Gravity – is set to take place on February 13, 2016 at the Theatre Royal in Sydney, Australia; there are 3pm and 8pm concerts scheduled.
This marks Aaron’s first appearance in Australia. He is to co-headline Defying Gravity with two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster. Also scheduled to attend are Helen Dallimore, David Harris, and West End star Joanna Ampil. Tony Award winner and cultural icon Betty Buckley will also make a special appearance at the show, serving as her debut Sydney performance.
Stephen Schwartz is a noted composer in both the theater and film world, working on everything from Wicked and Godspell on Broadway to Pocahontas and Enchanted in Hollywood. He has received three Academy Awards and four Grammys for his extensive musical contributions to the arts. Defying Gravity is a unique opportunity for Australasian fans to experience an array of his award-winning songs – like “Defying Gravity” (Wicked), “When You Believe” (Prince Of Egypt), and “Corner Of The Sky” (Pippin) – with renowned musical theater stars.
Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, October 16th. If you sign up for the official mailing list before 9am on October 12th, you’ll receive a pre-sale offer that gives you early ticket access.
