I Really Want to Know

Who really has had success post-The Voice?

I recognize that American Idol is losing viewing audience, while The Voice is gaining steam.  The Voice has a good format.  The mentors have genuine chemistry and enjoy each other's company.  The talent is there.

Though not every single person has been a success from American Idol's Top 12, obviously, there have been enough success stories from day 1 (thank you, Ms. Kelly Clarkson) to even more recently (thank you, Mr. Phillip Phillips) to show that they may not get the viewing audience, but post-American Idol, people are still willing to buy their music.

I've never seen any good promotion of any The Voice winners.  To be honest, I don't even know who has won The Voice in the past.  I know there was like Javier or something ... but I really want to know, have The Voice contestants been successful after the show and it's just a particular genre and not mainstream and that's why we don't hear about them.  Insight please?

When I was playing Mystique in X-Men, I remember thinking, If I’m going to be naked in paint in front of the entire world, I’m going to look like a woman. I’m going to have curves and have boobs and have a butt. Because girls are going to look at that, and if I look like a scarecrow, they are going to think, Oh, that’s normal. It’s not normal. I’m just so sick of these young girls with diets. I remember when I was 13 and it was cool to pretend to have an eating disorder because there were rumors that Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie were anorexic. I thought it was crazy. I went home and told my mom, “Nobody’s eating bread, I just had to finish everyone’s burgers”. I think it’s really important for girls to have people to look up to and feel good about themselves.

People like this make me feel really disgusting about my body & I know that’s not the purpose but ya know. Thanks for stripping away me trying to feel feminine & be my own sense of beautiful.

^^^ I love continually hearing that I’m not normal. Surely she could have gotten her point about girls viewing a wider range of bodies across without using terms like “not normal” and “scarecrow.” Oh, but she’s Jennifer Lawrence.

I get what Jennifer Lawrence is saying and I respect it.  But at the same time, I have friends that are naturally skinny.  They are not anorexic.  Basically when they read a quote like this saying that it's not normal for them to look the way they do, it's just heart breaking.  One of my friends has tried so hard to gain weight, but she just has a very high metabolism.  I wish we could all just recognize that we have different body compositions and stop comparing each other and stop judging each other because one is more naturally curvy and another is naturally thin.
