The caretaker calling for them, and searching the house, and not finding them, until they hear sobbing coming from one of the closets. The caretaker going and looking in the closet, and finding the whumpee curled up, crying and shaking. Them gently getting the whumpee’s attention, and then holding their arms out to them in an invitation for a hug. The whumpee glancing up at them with tear filled eyes, and then curling up in the caretaker’s arms. The caretaker still having no idea what's going on, but just cradling the whumpee close and stroking their back, knowing that they can ask later, and that right now, the important thing is making sure the whumpee gets comfort.
When the whumpee finds the caretaker intimidating, so when they get hurt, they try to hide it from them. Them managing to hide it for a few hours, but getting caught when they end up bleeding through their bandages and onto their clothes in front of the caretaker. The caretaker noticing, and asking the whumpee why there’s blood on their clothes, and the whumpee trying to brush off their concern. The caretaker not believing the whumpee, and asking them to sit down and let them see what’s wrong. The whumpee hesitantly doing so, and the caretaker taking a minute to look at the wound, then grabbing a first aid kit and patching them up properly. The whumpee being surprised with how careful the caretaker is, and so when the caretaker gently asks why they didn't ask for help sooner, the whumpee admitting that they were intimidated. The caretaker being caught off guard by this, since they’ve never thought they seemed intimidating, and them reassuring the whumpee that it’s okay to come to them if they’re sick or hurt, and that they’d rather know so they can help. The whumpee tentatively agreeing to tell them in the future, and the caretaker making sure to keep a closer eye on them in the future, just incase they hide something again.
When the whumpee stands up from where they’ve been sitting and talking to the caretaker, and they stagger, vision blurring as they nearly pass out. The caretaker jumping up and steadying them, then lowering them back down into a chair. Them putting a hand on the whumpee’s shoulder to ground them as the whumpee recollects themselves, and then asking how they’ve feeling, and if they have any idea why they nearly fainted. The whumpee admitting that they’ve been a little tired lately, but that they didn't realize it was bad enough for them to almost pass out, and the caretaker getting them to bed so they can get some rest.
When the caretaker notices that the whumpee looks a little pale, but they don't think anything of it until the whumpee collapses in the middle of a conversation. Them diving to catch the whumpee, and trying to figure out what happened, and why they passed out. The caretaker not being able to figure it out before the whumpee starts to wake up, and the caretaker gently questioning them, asking if they have any idea why they passed out. The whumpee admitting that they got hit pretty hard in the torso with something earlier that day, and the caretaker pulling up their shirt to check, only to find colorful bruising covering their side. The caretaker immediately hurrying the whumpee to the hospital, and the doctors telling them that the whumpee was bleeding internally, and would have died if they had waited much longer to get help.
When the caretaker notices that the whumpee is looking a little bit pale, but they think nothing of it until the whumpee starts to sway during a conversation. The caretaker starting to reach out to steady them, and then having to lunge to catch them as they crumple to the ground. The caretaker having no idea why the whumpee passed out, but gently getting them onto the floor, and settling the whumpee’s head in their lap. The whumpee coming to as the caretaker checks their pulse and tries to figure out why they passed out, and the caretaker asking if they know why. The whumpee admitting that they’d been feeling a little under the weather, and hadn't been getting much sleep, and the caretaker gently scooping them up and carrying them to bed, then making them stay there until they think the whumpee is okay.
When the whumpee and the caretaker aren't talking because of an argument, and the whumpee gets captured by the whumper. The whumpee getting rescued by the caretaker and the rest of their team a few days later, and thinking that the caretaker still won't want to talk to them. The caretaker surprising them by hugging them the first opportunity they get, and the whumpee breaking down crying, realizing that the caretaker was far more worried about their wellbeing than the stupid fight they’d had. The caretaker proceeding to fuss over them for a few days as they start to recover, and then the two of them talking about their fight once the whumpee is feeling up to it.
When the whumpee sits down to be patched up, and when the caretaker sees their injuries, all they can do is look at them in horror. The caretaker gently pushing them to lay down, and asking why the whumpee didn’t tell them how badly they were hurt as they start to clean the whumpee’s wounds. The whumpee starting to respond, but interrupting themself with a hiss of pain when the antiseptic stings. The caretaker apologizing, and trying to be gentle as they continue to work, and the whumpee admitting that they didn't mention it because there were other things to worry about. The caretaker scolding them, telling them that while there may have been other things going on, their health is still important, and they still need to tell someone.
When the caretaker is watching the whumpee, and they notice that they seem a little paler than usual, but they’re only mildly concerned, until they see the whumpee suddenly go even paler and start to sway. The caretaker rushing to the whumpee and steadying them, looking around for somewhere for the whumpee to sit, but the whumpee passing out in their hold before they can find somewhere. The caretaker gently guiding the whumpee to the ground, and laying them down with their head in the caretaker’s lap. The whumpee coming back to consciousness a minute later, and the caretaker giving them a few moments to get their bearings, then asking if they know why they passed out. The whumpee admitting that they’d barely been sleeping, and the caretaker giving them a disapproving look, then gently helping them sit up. The caretaker giving them a few moments, and then pulling them up to standing, and gently helping them get to somewhere they can get some proper rest.
When the caretaker has to drive the whumpee somewhere, but the whumpee is badly hurt, and every little bump in the road hurts. The caretaker having to just put the whumpee in the backseat and then focus on the road, meaning that all they can do to comfort the whumpee is try to verbally reassure them. The whumpee not being able to hold back little noises of pain, and the caretaker desperately wishing they could hold the whumpee and try to comfort them better. When the finally reach their destination, the caretaker getting the whumpee settled somewhere more comfortable, and then sitting with them, holding their hand and stroking their hair as the whumpee sleeps, exhausted from all the pain from traveling.
When the caretaker is talking quietly to the whumpee as they patch them up, and the whumpee has been giving them short, quiet responses, but then the responses stop. The caretaker not realizing for a minute, and looking up at the whumpee’s face as soon as they notice, alarmed, to find the whumpee laying there with their eyes closed. The caretaker checking and finding that the whumpee is still breathing, and coming to the conclusion that the whumpee passed out, probably from pain. Them going back to patching the whumpee up, trying to make sure that they’ll be done by the time the whumpee wakes up, so they’ll be in as little pain as possible.
When the whumpee shows up at the caretaker’s front door, looking like they can barely stand anymore, and as soon as the caretaker reaches out to put a hand on them to steady them, the whumpee just leaning forward and slumping into the caretaker. The startled caretaker immediately wrapping their arms around the whumpee to steady them, then gently steering them inside and closing the door without letting go. Them half guiding, half carrying the whumpee over to the couch, and gently pushing them down to sit on it, then pulling back to check them over as they quietly ask what’s wrong. The whumpee not answering, and just letting the caretaker check them over as they lean against the back of the couch. The caretaker quickly grabbing a first aid kit when they only find minor injuries, and patching them up gently. The whumpee dozing off while the caretaker works, and the caretaker deciding that the whumpee was probably just exhausted, and getting a blanket and covering them before sitting down to watch over them while they sleep.
When the whumpee and the caretaker are out in a snowy area, and the whumpee ends up getting soaked in freezing water. The caretaker having to call for help and then try to keep the whumpee as warm as possible while they wait. The whumpee starting to fall asleep while they wait, and the caretaker having to desperately try to keep them awake. Them managing to keep the whumpee awake for a few minutes, but the whumpee falling asleep anyway. The caretaker being alarmed by this, but not being able to do anything about it, and just desperately hoping that help will get there soon.
When the whumpee told the caretaker that they’re fine, but the caretaker suspects that they’re lying, because they’ve been moving stiffly and carefully for the past few days. The caretaker keeping a close eye on them, and catching a glimpse of colorful, ugly bruises when the whumpee’s shirt rides up when they grab something from a high shelf. The caretaker finding a quiet moment to confront them about it, and the whumpee admitting that they bruised their ribs, but they don't think anything’s actually broken. The caretaker making sure they get their ribs properly checked, and scolding them for hiding it, even though the whumpee ended up being right about it just being bruising.
When the whumpee’s been overworking themself, and they fall asleep with their head on their desk. The caretaker finding them there a while later, and deciding that while the desk probably isn't a very comfortable place to sleep, it’s better to leave them there than to move them and risk waking them up. The caretaker leaving for a few minutes and returning with a blanket, then covering the sleeping whumpee with it. Them then sitting down to watch over the whumpee, hoping that they’ll at least sleep for a few hours, because it’s clear that they desperately need it.
When the caretaker comes home to find a trail of blood on the floor leading to the bathroom, and they find the whumpee sitting on the edge of the bathtub, trying to patch themself up. The caretaker rushing to them, questioning why they didn't get proper help or at least call them and ask them to come home as they take over patching the whumpee up. The whumpee apologizing and saying they thought they could handle it, then letting the caretaker efficiently patch them up. The caretaker getting them to bed as soon as they’ve finished caring for them, then going to clean up the blood, contemplating how to get the whumpee to ask for help if this ever happened again.
When the whumpee is exhausted and has hurt their ankle, but they have to walk for some distance to get back to the caretaker so they can help. Them finally making it to them, limping heavily and crying, and almost falling into the caretaker’s arms. The caretaker catching them and gently helping them sit down, then asking what’s wrong. The whumpee mumbling something about their ankle, and the caretaker pushing up their pant leg and finding that it’s bruised and horribly swollen. The caretaker gently picking the whumpee up, and carrying them to medical attention, because there’s no way they’re going to let the whumpee walk on their ankle anymore.
When the whumpee is being rescued, and the caretaker has to carry them to safety, but they can't figure out a way to lift the whumpee without causing them pain. The whumpee realizing this, and telling the caretaker to just pick them up, and that they’ll deal with the pain. The caretaker feeling horrible about it, but doing what the whumpee told them to, and scooping them up as gently as they can. The whumpee not being able to stop themself from making a noise of pain, but telling the caretaker to just get moving when they hesitate, and leaning into the caretaker, who gets them to safety as quickly and carefully as possible.
