When the whumpee joins the rest of their team for an outing, but when they show up a few minutes late looking like they’re about to pass out, their teammates calling the days activities off so they can take the whumpee home. The whumpee protesting that they’ll be fine, and that their teammates shouldn't inconvenience themselves, and their teammates kindly telling them to shut up and cooperate. The whumpee still feeling a bit bad about their teammates canceling everything, but letting them take them home and fuss over them anyway. Later that day, the whumpee and their team sitting together in the whumpee’s home, the whumpee under a pile of blankets on the couch, and them all watching a movie as the whumpee dozes off to the feeling of a teammate playing with their hair, feeling safe and cared for.
When the caretaker, who lives with the whumpee, comes home after a long day, but the whumpee doesn't greet them when they come in (even though they usually do). The caretaker calling for them, and searching the house, and not finding them, until they hear sobbing coming from one of the closets. The caretaker going and looking in the closet, and finding the whumpee curled up, crying and shaking. Them gently getting the whumpee’s attention, and then holding their arms out to them in an invitation for a hug. The whumpee glancing up at them with tear filled eyes, and then curling up in the caretaker’s arms. The caretaker still having no idea what's going on, but just cradling the whumpee close and stroking their back, knowing that they can ask later, and that right now, the important thing is making sure the whumpee gets comfort.
When the whumpee finds the caretaker intimidating, so when they get hurt, they try to hide it from them. Them managing to hide it for a few hours, but getting caught when they end up bleeding through their bandages and onto their clothes in front of the caretaker. The caretaker noticing, and asking the whumpee why there’s blood on their clothes, and the whumpee trying to brush off their concern. The caretaker not believing the whumpee, and asking them to sit down and let them see what’s wrong. The whumpee hesitantly doing so, and the caretaker taking a minute to look at the wound, then grabbing a first aid kit and patching them up properly. The whumpee being surprised with how careful the caretaker is, and so when the caretaker gently asks why they didn't ask for help sooner, the whumpee admitting that they were intimidated. The caretaker being caught off guard by this, since they’ve never thought they seemed intimidating, and them reassuring the whumpee that it’s okay to come to them if they’re sick or hurt, and that they’d rather know so they can help. The whumpee tentatively agreeing to tell them in the future, and the caretaker making sure to keep a closer eye on them in the future, just incase they hide something again.
When the whumpee is exhausted and has hurt their ankle, but they’re still trying to get out of bed. Their teammates standing and having a conversation, having no idea how to keep them there short of sitting on them, but the youngest one just leaving the room. The rest of the team following the youngest curiously, and seeing them just crawling into bed with the whumpee. The youngest then curling up against the whumpee’s side, hugging them, and then going to sleep. The whumpee being torn between being annoyed at the youngest for making it so they can't get up without waking them, and enjoying the cuddles. The rest of their teammates watching from the doorway, and the whumpee glaring at them, then reaching down to stroke the youngest’s hair, then letting themself fall asleep too.
When the whumpee has work that they absolutely have to finish, but they’re exhausted, and it’s starting to interfere with their ability to finish the work. The caretaker doing what they can to help and support them, and the whumpee somehow managing to push through it. As soon as the whumpee’s done, the caretaker fussing over them, and ushering them off to rest. The whumpee falling asleep the second they lay down, and the caretaker tucking them in gently, so they don't get cold while they sleep.
When the whumpee has a horrible headache, but they’re stuck waiting for a friend to pick them up. The caretaker who is waiting with them letting the whumpee curl up with their head in their lap, and playing with their hair to try to distract them. The whumpee mostly dozing off by the time their friend arrives to pick them up, and the caretaker carrying them to the car. The caretaker gently sitting them down and buckling their seatbelt for them, and explaining to the friend how to take care of the whumpee once they’ve gotten them home.
When the whumpee gets beaten up while protecting the caretaker, and the caretaker helps them get home and patches them up. The caretaker helping the whumpee inside, and settling them on the edge of the bathtub. Them gently cleaning the whumpee’s wounds, and apologizing when they hiss in pain. The caretaker helping them to the couch as soon as they’ve finished patching them up, and them covering the whumpee in a blanket. The caretaker grabbing ice packs and putting them on the worst of the whumpee’s bruises, and the whumpee flinching at the sudden cold. The caretaker apologizing again, and thanking the whumpee for protecting them, and the whumpee thanking them for taking care of them.
When the whumpee gets hurt on a mission, but they just joined their team, and they’re not really sure who they’re supposed to tell, so they just decide to say nothing and deal with it on their own. The whumpee patching themself up, and not doing a terrible job, then trying to go about their life as normal. Their teammates not suspecting anything until they notice the whumpee wince and curl around their side after moving carelessly, and them asking the whumpee what’s wrong. The whumpee admitting that they’d gotten hurt on the mission a couple days before, but them saying that they’d dealt with it on their own. Their teammate’s being surprised and upset that the whumpee hadn't asked for help, and them making the whumpee sit down so they can look their injuries over. The whumpee letting them, and their teammates admitting that the whumpee did a good job patching themself up. Their teammates still forcing them to get proper medical attention, and telling them if they get hurt again, they can tell any of their teammates, and they’ll make sure they get taken care of.
When the whumpee has a lot of scars that they don't want their team seeing, but they end up getting hurt again, and they know they can't deal with it on their own, but asking for help will mean letting someone see the scars. The whumpee deciding to try to deal with it on their own anyway, but having to give up within minutes of starting to patch themself up. Them having to force themself to go to the rest of their team for help, and their teammates making no comments about the scars as they patch the whumpee up. The whumpee falling asleep after their teammates are done, and when they wake up, them asking the rest of their team why none of them commented. Their teammates telling them that they weren't going to ask them questions about something they clearly were uncomfortable with, but if they ever wanted to talk about the scars, they’d listen. The whumpee starting to cry, and thanking them, and their teammates all crowding around for a group hug, trying to comfort them.
When the whumpee is the team leader and they try to seem tough in front of their teammates, but when their teammates rescue them from the whumper, they can't hide that they’re in bad shape. Their teammates checking them over quickly, and the whumpee trying to claim that they can walk, but their teammates all ignoring them, and the strongest one picking them up carefully. The whumpee trying to hide that even being carried hurts, but not being able to stop themself from making pained noises whenever they get slightly jostled. Their teammate apologizing, and trying to be as gentle as possible, and the whumpee hiding their face in their teammate’s shirt as they start to cry, the combination of the pain and the relief of being rescued just too much.
When the whumpee starts getting hypothermic on a mission in a cold, snowy area, but they try to push through it without telling their teammates, because they haven't been on the team very long and they don't want to be an inconvenience. One of their teammates noticing just how much the whumpee is shivering, and telling the team leader that the whumpee needs shelter and warmth. The team leader deciding it’s time to find shelter for the night, and as soon as they’ve found shelter, going over to the whumpee and asking if they’re ok. The whumpee trying to deny that anything’s wrong, but being so cold and out of it that their leader simply ignores them and leads them to sit down. The rest of the team helping the leader get the whumpee situated in the leader’s arms, and then wrapping the two in a blanket. The whumpee leaning into the team leader’s touch almost involuntarily, too cold to stop themself, and the leader gently scolding them about hiding how cold they were as they hold them close, trying to share as much warmth as possible.
When the whumpee’s team goes to rescue them, and they find them curled up in the corner of a cold cell, shivering. Their teammates immediately rushing to the whumpee, and one of their teammates pulling off their jacket to wrap around them. The whumpee leaning into their teammate’s touch, seeking out warmth, and the strongest teammate scooping them up and cradling them close. The whumpee clinging to them almost desperately, and their teammates rushing them out of there so they can get them somewhere warm and safe.
When the whumpee wakes up feeling horrible in the middle of the night, but they decide not to bother anyone about it until morning. Them just curling up in a ball under their blankets, crying silently and gritting their teeth as they wait for morning. One of their teammates coming to check on them when they don't show up for breakfast, and finding the whumpee still curled up, shivering under their blankets and covered in sweat. The teammate touching the whumpee’s forehead and finding a fever, then running to get the team leader, knowing they’ll know how to help the whumpee.
When the whumpee shows up at the caretaker’s front door, looking like they can barely stand anymore, and as soon as the caretaker reaches out to put a hand on them to steady them, the whumpee just leaning forward and slumping into the caretaker. The startled caretaker immediately wrapping their arms around the whumpee to steady them, then gently steering them inside and closing the door without letting go. Them half guiding, half carrying the whumpee over to the couch, and gently pushing them down to sit on it, then pulling back to check them over as they quietly ask what’s wrong. The whumpee not answering, and just letting the caretaker check them over as they lean against the back of the couch. The caretaker quickly grabbing a first aid kit when they only find minor injuries, and patching them up gently. The whumpee dozing off while the caretaker works, and the caretaker deciding that the whumpee was probably just exhausted, and getting a blanket and covering them before sitting down to watch over them while they sleep.
When the whumpee is in pain and they’re completely exhausted because of it, but their shoulder is still dislocated, and the caretaker has to pop it back into place. The whumpee starting to cry when the caretaker tells them, but not arguing, and the caretaker doing it as quickly as possible, because the sooner they get this done, the sooner the whumpee can rest. The whumpee nearly passing out when the caretaker pops it back into place, and the caretaker steadying them and pulling them into a gentle hug. The whumpee burying their face in the caretaker’s shoulder, still crying, and the two of them just staying there for a few minutes before the caretaker helps the whumpee to bed.
When the whumpee is rescued from the whumper and they keep having terrible nightmares, so their entire team decides to sleep in one room with them so they can be there to comfort them. Their teammates all taking turns watching over them as the rest of the team sleeps, and waking them up whenever they start having a nightmare. The whumpee feeling safe surrounded by their team, and falling back asleep relatively quickly after nightmares. Them waking up the next morning feeling well rested for the first time since they’d been rescued, and their teammates making sure to continue the sleepovers for awhile, until the whumpee doesn't have such horrible nightmares.
When the whumpee needs to use an oxygen mask, but they really, really hate the way it feels, and they keep trying to take it off. The caretaker sitting with them, and scolding them every time they move to take it off, and eventually deciding it’s easier to just hold the whumpee’s hands so they can't try to remove it. The whumpee trying to pull their hands out of the caretaker’s grasp, but being too weak to be able to. The whumpee falling asleep soon after, and the caretaker’s grasp becoming comforting instead of restraining now that the whumpee isn't trying to remove the mask anymore.
