When the whumpee finds the caretaker intimidating, so when they get hurt, they try to hide it from them. Them managing to hide it for a few hours, but getting caught when they end up bleeding through their bandages and onto their clothes in front of the caretaker. The caretaker noticing, and asking the whumpee why there’s blood on their clothes, and the whumpee trying to brush off their concern. The caretaker not believing the whumpee, and asking them to sit down and let them see what’s wrong. The whumpee hesitantly doing so, and the caretaker taking a minute to look at the wound, then grabbing a first aid kit and patching them up properly. The whumpee being surprised with how careful the caretaker is, and so when the caretaker gently asks why they didn't ask for help sooner, the whumpee admitting that they were intimidated. The caretaker being caught off guard by this, since they’ve never thought they seemed intimidating, and them reassuring the whumpee that it’s okay to come to them if they’re sick or hurt, and that they’d rather know so they can help. The whumpee tentatively agreeing to tell them in the future, and the caretaker making sure to keep a closer eye on them in the future, just incase they hide something again.
When the whumpee feels absolutely terrible, but they have to travel. The whumpee leaning on the caretaker’s shoulder almost the entire time, not having the energy to sit up for that long on their own, and the caretaker half carrying them anytime they have to walk. The caretaker bringing the whumpee to the caretaker’s house, since they don't want to leave them alone, and immediately lowering them onto the couch, telling the whumpee to just hang in there for a few minutes while they get a couple things, and then the caretaker will get them into a proper bed. The whumpee trying to listen to them, but dozing off on the couch less than a minute later. The caretaker coming back to find them slumped against the arm of the couch, sound asleep. The caretaker considering just settling them in a more comfortable position on the couch, but ultimately deciding to just carry the whumpee to a proper bed. Them tucking the whumpee in, and the whumpee waking up the next morning with no idea how they got there, but feeling safe and cared for.
When the whumpee is dealing with the anniversary of something bad, and they’re upset and don't really have the energy to do anything. The caretaker knowing that it’s that anniversary, making sure to bring the whumpee food, and coaxing them through taking care of themself. The caretaker settling them on the couch as soon as they’ve eaten, and turning on the TV, then sitting with them for hours, just holding them. They whumpee dozing off in the caretaker’s arms sometime during the afternoon, and the caretaker just letting them sleep there until dinner, then waking them up to eat before getting them to bed. A few days later, the whumpee thanking the caretaker for taking care of them, and making sure they didn't have to deal with that on their own.
When the whumpee’s exhausted, and everything around them is just too much to handle, but they can't go home and rest for several more hours. The whumpee suffering through those next few hours, the thought of going home and sleeping the only thing keeping them going until they can finally leave. The whumpee dragging themself home and only making it to the couch before they run out of steam, quickly falling asleep there, and the caretaker finding them hours later. The caretaker gently tucking them in to make them more comfortable, and the whumpee waking up later to find themself covered in a blanket, a glass of water on a table nearby, and the caretaker sitting a few feet away, watching them with concern.
When the whumpee is finally rescued from the whumper, but they’re badly hurt, and are confined to bed until they recover. The whumpee struggling with being stuck in bed, because not being able to go anywhere reminds them too much of being held captive by the whumper. The caretaker noticing that something’s bothering the whumpee, and asking them about it, and them admitting that being stuck in bed makes them feel trapped. The caretaker then making sure the whumpee has some control of where they are, carrying them to the couch whenever they ask, because even that small choice makes life a little easier for the whumpee, and the caretaker wants to make the whumpee’s recovery as easy as possible.
When the whumpee has been so busy they haven't been getting anywhere near enough sleep, and they finally finish the last thing they need to do before getting changed and going to bed, but even thinking about walking to their room is overwhelming. The caretaker noticing, and gently but firmly guiding them through getting changed into pajamas, then steering them over to their bed. The whumpee practically collapsing into it and falling asleep the second their head hits the pillow, and the caretaker carefully covering them in blankets, then turning off the lights and grabbing a cup of water to leave on the nightstand. The caretaker already starting planning what to make the whumpee for breakfast when they wake up, because they know the whumpee probably hadn't been eating enough, considering how busy they’d been.
When the whumpee gets rescued from the whumper, and they stay close to the caretaker afterwards, because the caretaker makes them feel safe. The caretaker knowing why the whumpee is staying so close to them, and trying to stay near them, but having to leave them for a few hours to deal with something important. The caretaker returning to the whumpee after they’re done, and finding the whumpee curled up into a ball in the corner of the room. The caretaker gently coaxing them out of the corner, and the whumpee ending up clinging to them, whispering that they though the whumper might come and kidnap them again while the caretaker wasn't there. The caretaker reassuring them that the whumper won't ever take them again, even if the caretaker isn't there, and letting the whumpee continue clinging even as they fall asleep, because they know the whumpee needs the comfort.
When the whumpee has a pounding headache, but they have to try to work anyway. Them pushing through most of the day, until the pain gets so bad that they end up crying, and the caretaker sees them. The caretaker asking what's wrong, and the whumpee admitting that they have a horrible headache. The caretaker bringing them home, and getting them settled in bed, making sure the room is dark and the house is quiet. The caretaker bringing them something for the pain, and then sitting with them, gently playing with their hair to try to ease the pain and help them fall asleep. The whumpee leaning into the caretaker’s touch, and drifting off to sleep shortly after, hoping to wake up in less pain.
When the whumpee is finally rescued, and they get patched up and sleep through the entire night, but they wake up so stiff and sore the next morning that they can barely move. The whumpee desperately wanting independence, but the caretaker having to help them with everything, bringing them to the kitchen table for breakfast, and and half carrying them to the couch afterwards so they can rest without being alone. The whumpee tolerating the caretaker’s help, because they know they need it, even though they dislike it, and they know that the caretaker doesn't deserve to be yelled at just because the whumpee is frustrated. The caretaker eventually noticing that the whumpee seems frustrated, and apologizing for not being able to do more, and the whumpee telling them not to worry about it, because they know the caretaker is doing their best. The two of them eventually ending up cuddled together on the couch, watching tv as they wait for the whumpee to recover.
