When the whumpee wakes up from a nightmare screaming, and the caretaker rushes in, thinking that the whumpee is in danger, only to find them sobbing into their pillow, still shaking from the dream. The caretaker realizing what's going on, and holding them until they calm down, then wrapping them in a blanket and bringing them to the kitchen. Them making the whumpee hot chocolate or some other hot drink, and sitting with them until they finish it, and then settling down on the couch with them. The caretaker turning on the tv, and the two of them sitting there together until the whumpee drifts off to sleep again with their head in the caretaker’s lap.

When the caretaker, who lives with the whumpee, comes home after a long day, but the whumpee doesn't greet them when they come in (even though they usually do). The caretaker calling for them, and searching the house, and not finding them, until they hear sobbing coming from one of the closets. The caretaker going and looking in the closet, and finding the whumpee curled up, crying and shaking. Them gently getting the whumpee’s attention, and then holding their arms out to them in an invitation for a hug. The whumpee glancing up at them with tear filled eyes, and then curling up in the caretaker’s arms. The caretaker still having no idea what's going on, but just cradling the whumpee close and stroking their back, knowing that they can ask later, and that right now, the important thing is making sure the whumpee gets comfort.

When the whumpee and the caretaker aren't talking because of an argument, and the whumpee gets captured by the whumper. The whumpee getting rescued by the caretaker and the rest of their team a few days later, and thinking that the caretaker still won't want to talk to them. The caretaker surprising them by hugging them the first opportunity they get, and the whumpee breaking down crying, realizing that the caretaker was far more worried about their wellbeing than the stupid fight they’d had. The caretaker proceeding to fuss over them for a few days as they start to recover, and then the two of them talking about their fight once the whumpee is feeling up to it.

When the whumpee is rescued from the whumper, and taken to a hospital to have their injuries treated. Them thinking that they’ll be alone when they wake up, but instead they wake up surrounded by their friends. The whumpee still being out of it enough to admit that they didn't expect them to be there, and their friends immediately protesting that of course they were all there, they care about the whumpee. The whumpee breaking down crying, and their friends crowding around them and gently hugging them and petting their hair, doing their best not to hurt them as they try to comfort them.

When the whumpee has a lot of scars that they don't want their team seeing, but they end up getting hurt again, and they know they can't deal with it on their own, but asking for help will mean letting someone see the scars. The whumpee deciding to try to deal with it on their own anyway, but having to give up within minutes of starting to patch themself up. Them having to force themself to go to the rest of their team for help, and their teammates making no comments about the scars as they patch the whumpee up. The whumpee falling asleep after their teammates are done, and when they wake up, them asking the rest of their team why none of them commented. Their teammates telling them that they weren't going to ask them questions about something they clearly were uncomfortable with, but if they ever wanted to talk about the scars, they’d listen. The whumpee starting to cry, and thanking them, and their teammates all crowding around for a group hug, trying to comfort them.

When the whumpee is the team leader and they try to seem tough in front of their teammates, but when their teammates rescue them from the whumper, they can't hide that they’re in bad shape. Their teammates checking them over quickly, and the whumpee trying to claim that they can walk, but their teammates all ignoring them, and the strongest one picking them up carefully. The whumpee trying to hide that even being carried hurts, but not being able to stop themself from making pained noises whenever they get slightly jostled. Their teammate apologizing, and trying to be as gentle as possible, and the whumpee hiding their face in their teammate’s shirt as they start to cry, the combination of the pain and the relief of being rescued just too much.

When the whumpee has hurt their ankle, and the caretaker has gotten them settled in bed, then left them alone for a few minutes to go gather an ice pack and some water, and the whumpee decides to try to stand up and grab something from the other side of the room. The whumpee falling as soon as they try to put weight on their injured ankle, and landing on the floor with a loud thump. The caretaker hurrying back to the whumpee, and finding them sitting on the floor, clutching their ankle with tears running down their cheeks. The caretaker gently helping the whumpee back into bed, and carefully checking to make sure they haven't made their ankle worse, then settling an ice pack on it. The whumpee hissing slightly at the sudden cold, and the caretaker asking them how they ended up on the floor. The whumpee admitting that they were trying to grab something, and the caretaker getting it for them, then handing them some water and telling them to just ask for help next time, instead of risking hurting themself even more.

When the whumpee wakes up feeling horrible in the middle of the night, but they decide not to bother anyone about it until morning. Them just curling up in a ball under their blankets, crying silently and gritting their teeth as they wait for morning. One of their teammates coming to check on them when they don't show up for breakfast, and finding the whumpee still curled up, shivering under their blankets and covered in sweat. The teammate touching the whumpee’s forehead and finding a fever, then running to get the team leader, knowing they’ll know how to help the whumpee.

When the whumpee is in pain and they’re completely exhausted because of it, but their shoulder is still dislocated, and the caretaker has to pop it back into place. The whumpee starting to cry when the caretaker tells them, but not arguing, and the caretaker doing it as quickly as possible, because the sooner they get this done, the sooner the whumpee can rest. The whumpee nearly passing out when the caretaker pops it back into place, and the caretaker steadying them and pulling them into a gentle hug. The whumpee burying their face in the caretaker’s shoulder, still crying, and the two of them just staying there for a few minutes before the caretaker helps the whumpee to bed.

When the whumpee isn't used to people caring about them or comforting them, so when the caretaker finds them crying and immediately hugs them, they have no idea how to react. The caretaker holding them gently and rubbing their back until the whumpee relaxes and starts to cry harder, then staying there and whispering comforting things to them until they calm down. The whumpee ending up falling asleep in the caretaker’s arms, too worn out from crying to stay awake, and the caretaker carrying them to bed. The whumpee waking up a few hours later to find the caretaker waiting at their bedside with a glass of water for them, and asking the caretaker why they’re being so nice. This question breaking the caretaker’s heart, and them telling the whumpee that they deserve to be cared for, then hugging them again.

When the whumpee is exhausted and has hurt their ankle, but they have to walk for some distance to get back to the caretaker so they can help. Them finally making it to them, limping heavily and crying, and almost falling into the caretaker’s arms. The caretaker catching them and gently helping them sit down, then asking what’s wrong. The whumpee mumbling something about their ankle, and the caretaker pushing up their pant leg and finding that it’s bruised and horribly swollen. The caretaker gently picking the whumpee up, and carrying them to medical attention, because there’s no way they’re going to let the whumpee walk on their ankle anymore.

When the whumpee is finally rescued from the whumper, and the caretaker is patching them up. The whumpee starting to cry a few minutes in, and the caretaker stopping and trying to comfort them, thinking that they’re crying because of the pain. This only making the whumpee cry harder, and it taking a few minutes for them to be able to choke out that they’re crying because the caretaker is being so gentle. The caretaker almost starting to cry at that, too, and just holding the whumpee for a few minutes before they start to patch them up again. The whumpee ending up falling asleep before the caretaker is done, too worn out from the crying on top of everything else to stay awake, and the caretaker finishing patching them up as quickly as possible, not wanting to disturb the whumpee’s rest.

When the whumpee decides to try to stitch up their wounds themself, but halfway through, the pain becomes too much, and they just end up sitting there and crying, unable to finish patching themself up. The caretaker finding them a few minutes later, and making the whumpee let them care for them properly. The whumpee being too tired and in too much pain to protest, and letting the caretaker finish patching them up without argument. The caretaker then making the whumpee go to bed, knowing that they’d need to talk about asking for help with this kind of thing, but also knowing that the whumpee is too tired to have the conversation before they’ve slept.

When the whumpee wakes up from a nightmare, but they decide not to go to the caretaker and ask for comfort, so they just curl up in a ball under the covers and cry instead. The caretaker happening to be up to get a glass of water, and hearing them, even though the whumpee is trying to be quiet, and going to investigate. The caretaker knocking on their door quietly, and the whumpee trying to silence their sobbing, but being unable to. The caretaker becoming more concerned when they don't get a reply from the whumpee, and slowly opening the door and slipping into the room. Them seeing the whumpee, curled up and shaking under the blankets, and immediately moving to see if they’re alright. The caretaker gently asking the whumpee what’s wrong, and the whumpee admitting that they had a nightmare. The caretaker wrapping them up in their arms and telling the whumpee to just come to them for comfort next time. The whumpee trying to protest that they don't want to wake up the caretaker, and the caretaker telling them that they’d rather be woken up then let the whumpee go through this alone. This just making the whumpee cry harder, until they eventually cry themself to sleep in the caretaker’s arms. The caretaker then carefully getting them both into comfortable sleeping positions, and spending the rest of the night sleeping with the whumpee in their arms, so the caretaker will wake up if there are any more nightmares.

When the whumpee finally opens up about what happened while they were with the whumper, and the caretaker just sits there and listens, letting the whumpee explain at their own pace. The whumpee breaking down crying in the middle of their explanation, and the caretaker trying to tell them that it’s ok if they need to stop or take a break, but the whumpee insisting on finishing telling them. The caretaker wrapping the sobbing whumpee in a warm, loving hug as soon as they finish explaining, and the whumpee crying themself to sleep in the caretaker’s arms. The caretaker crying quietly, too, devastated by what the whumpee’s been through, but determined to do everything they can to help them now.

When the whumpee’s old team used to yell at them for being a burden whenever they got hurt, so they try not to let any of their new teammates know about their injuries. Their teammates suspecting that something is wrong for awhile, but not actually finding out what’s going on until the whumpee gets badly hurt and tries to hide it and deal with it alone. Their teammates confronting them about it, and the whumpee instantly breaking down crying and apologizing, promising that they’re trying not to be a burden, and that they’ll do better in the future. Their teammates being horrified, but putting that aside so they can patch the whumpee up properly and get them to bed. Them all meeting back up after the whumpee is asleep, and trying to make sense of the whumpee’s response to their concern. The team eventually deciding to talk to the whumpee about it after they wake up, and then taking turns sitting with the whumpee while they sleep, because seeing them makes the worry a little bit more bearable.

When the whumpee disappeared months ago, and their team thinks that they’re dead, but when they go to investigate one of the whumper’s secret hideouts, they open a cell and find the whumpee curled up in the corner. The whumpee not believing that their teammates are really there at first, because they’d been in captivity for so long, until one teammate carefully comes over and holds out their arms. The whumpee practically falling into their arms, and crying their eyes out while their teammates carry them out of the hideout and bring them to safety, and refusing to let go of their teammate, even as the rest of their team patches them up. The whumpee falling asleep still in their teammate’s arms, and the rest of their team settling in around them so they wake up surrounded by people they love.
