McGonagall’s big spell to animate those statues (that for some reason we’ve never seen before??) was a really cool moment and all, but after making such a big deal out of having them march off to go man the boundaries, the statues ended up not really doing shit to protect Hogwarts.
daily reminder that minerva mcgonagall is metal as fuck
I love it how when Snape draws out his wand there are audible gasps but when Mcgonagall draws her wand there people are screaming out of the way.
They just know better.
damn snape is piss-OH MOTHERFUCKING SHIT, MOVE OUT, CLEAR THE WAY, MCGONAGALL IS PISSED.
I will stop reblogging this when it stops being awesome.
Book Quotes: - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix "Oh I can’t wait to see McGonagall inspected,” said Ron happily. “Umbridge won’t know what’s hit her.”
McGonagall is the Queen of Sass. All Hail McGonagall.
DO YOU NEED A COUGH DROP, DOLORES?!
Can we talk about this moment please? Because it is one of my favourite and isn’t talked about enough. Harry just revealed himself on what was supposed to be a secret mission, despite the fact that it could put him and his task in jeopardy. Because of the respect he had for Minerva McGonagall.
But that’s not all. This is the first time Harry has ever managed to cast a Cruciatus Curse properly. All his other attempts had been unsuccessful. Including the time he cast it on Bellatrix Lestrange moments after she’d killed Sirius. Now, I’m not saying that his raw emotions in this scene were stronger than after his godfather’s death, or that emotion is all it takes to cast the curse, but I imagine (especially for the first time) a large part of whether your curse works or not is exactly how much you want to cause your victim unbearable pain.
Let us remember that, at this point, McGonagal is not really under threat. She’s not in any immediate danger; Amycus may have threatened her, but she’s a brilliant witch. We can assume that she could have handled herself. What made Harry snap like this was just the mere act of disrespecting Minerva McGonagall. Harry, who disarms Death Eaters rather than curse them, to the point where “Expelliarmus” becomes known as his signature move. And the fact that Amycus Carrow simply spat at his old Head of House is what causes him to break his “try not to harm anyone too much, or kill where it isn’t necessary” policy.
That is how much Harry respected Professor McGonagall.
(via fandom-revolution)
come on McGonagall, 5 points awarded to them for defeating a giant troll and saving a student, but 50 points each just for being out of bed after hours? this points system is fucked
BUT DO YOU REALIZE WHAT THIS MEANS
HARRY POTTER HAD SO MUCH RESPECT FOR THAT AMAZING WOMAN THAT THE MOMENT SHE WAS DISRESPECTED HE WAS FILLED WITH SUCH A POTENT RAGE HE WAS ABLE TO CAST AN UNFORGIVABLE CURSE
A CURSE HE WASN’T ABLE TO CAST PROPERLY WHEN HIS FATHER FIGURE WAS MURDERED IN FRONT OF HIM
REASONS TO LOVE PROFESSOR MINERVA MCGONAGALL
8. the magic begins a scene you really wanted to be in the movies but wasn’t → career advice
"Well, then, I am confused…I’m afraid I don’t quite understand how you can give Mr. Potter false hope that —" "False hope?" repeated Professor McGonagall, still refusing to look round at Professor Umbridge. "He has achieved high marks in all his Defense Against the Dark Arts tests —" "I am terribly sorry to have to contradict you, Minerva, but as you will see from my note, Harry has been achieving very poor results in his classes with me —" "I should have made my meaning plainer," said Professor McGonagall, turning at last to look Umbridge directly in the eyes. "He has achieved high marks in all Defense Against the Dark Arts tests set by a competent teacher."
I wish Professor McGonagall ended all her classes by snapping her fingers, saying “McGonagone” then strutting out.
“‘Potter belongs in my House!’ Beneath the disbelief and anger, Harry heard a little strain of pride in her voice, and affection for Minerva McGonagall gushed up inside him.”
Harry Potter Etymology | Minerva McGonagall

↳ Order of the Phoenix, p 275
“Have a biscuit,” she repeated impatiently, indicating the tartan tin lying on top of one of the piles of papers on her desk, “and sit down.”
“Harry witnessed Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves, who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier, and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth, ‘It unscrews the other way.’”
#I like to imagine that they stay up late and hang out in his office #have a few drinks #braid each other’s hair #talk about boys
JK said on Pottermore this was canon.
