this MAKES ME SO MAD
Boys, protect girls. Call people out when they make offensive jokes. Stand up to those who treat girls like objects. Walk a girl home if she feels unsafe. Listen to them and be considerate of their feelings. Destroy that myth that women are inferior.
Girls, protect boys. Call people out when they make fun of a boy for showing emotion. Stand up to those who tell boys to ‘man up.’ Support boys who enjoy feminine things. Destroy the myth that men can’t be victims and that women can’t be predators.
Boys, protect boys. Protect your bros from violent relationships. Comfort your bros when they need somebody. Stand up for your bros who are ridiculed for not wanting/liking sex. Destroy the myth that two men can’t be close without it being “gay.”
Girls, protect girls. Defend sisters who enjoy having sex. Stand up to those who define sisters for what they wear. Don’t judge your sister’s worth from how many boyfriend’s she’s had. Destroy the myth that girls have to constantly compete with each other.
for today’s episode on how fucked up our world is: women have a completely different section for plus sizes with completely different clothes and very small variety, but men have all their sizes in the same section, without classifying it “plus sized”.
i have never thought about this..
Damn ya’ll getting underpaid and overcharged
instead of paying women the same as men, pay men the same as women and see how angry they get
The Bechdel test is actually the craziest shit because at first you’re all like “two female characters discussing something other than men, alright, easy peasy, what a low fucking bar” and then you start to pay attention and you realize that like 80% of the films you watch don’t pass this simple test and it’s just
what the everloving fuck is wrong with our society
what is weird is how often men have bloated confidence in arguments about things they clearly know nothing about and how often women have close to zero confidence in arguments about things they know a lot about
"not all men!" but all women are bad drivers and all women are moody and all women are emotional and all women get to be painted with the same brush but don’t you dare generalise men that’s unfair!!!!!!!!
This is one of the best articles of all time, and I will always reblog quotes from it.

TRUTH
I’d love to see someone attempt to defend the clothing industry
oh jeez..
YES! Except I spend way more than $30 on bras because my size isn’t sold everywhere only specialty bra stores. Last time I went bra shopping I spent close to $400 for 4 bras >_<
This is in my Economics textbook
This is fucked up
if you couldn’t SEE how fucked up this is, let me put this into even more perspective for you. a male with no high school education still makes more than a female with 9th-12th grade education (no diploma). a male who is a high school graduate still makes more than a female with an associate’s degree. a male with a bachelor’s degree only makes about ~$2000 less than a female with a fucking doctorate’s degree. tell me again why feminism isn’t important.

The Sociological Cinema
There was actually research that was done that found that women who used an “I have a boyfriend/husband” excuse to reject unwanted sexual attention and harassment by their bosses were more likely to be left alone than those who used any other excuse (including “I’m not interested”)
Because men respect another man’s property (and that’s how they see us) than a woman’s autonomy.

I had to use this once and the guy said to me “I respect that.” I guess he didn’t respect my choice to stop texting him, ignore him in class, not call him back…

Opinions are like orgasms, most girls aren’t taught that it is okay to have their own and are only expected to further men’s.
Holy shit.
woah there
THANK YOU
You are informed about a book’s perceived quality through a number of ways. Probably the biggest is the cover.
And the simple fact of the matter is, if you are a female author, you are much more likely to get the package that suggests the book is of a lower perceived quality. Because it’s “girly,” which is somehow inherently different and easier on the palate. A man and a woman can write books about the same subject matter, at the same level of quality, and that woman is simple more likely to get the soft-sell cover with the warm glow and the feeling of smooth jazz blowing off of it.
This idea that there are “girl books” and “boy books” and “chick lit” and “whatever is the guy equivalent of chick lit”* gives credit to absolutely no one, especially not the boys who will happily read stories by women, about women. As a lover of books and someone who supports readers and writers of both sexes, I would love a world in which books are freed from some of these constraints. Click here to read more about the perceived differences between ‘girl’ and ‘boy’ books.

This is a pretty interesting experiment from author Maureen Johnson.
I read this earlier today. Really, really worth looking at and thinking about. There’s a whole gallery of them.
patriarchy in action
I don’t know if you know this but
men can lose their virginity too
I don’t know if you know this, but society doesn’t place any fucking value on men’s virginity…nor has it ever systemically trained men to think of themselves as only being worthy of marriage if they’re still a virgin.
Society doesn’t tell men they’re tainted or dirty when they lose their virginity it praises them.
Society’s never PAID men’s families for their virginity…NOR HAS IT EVER PROMISED WOMEN who do good that they’ll get to “have sex with a 1000 virgin men” when they go to heaven.
GET THE FUCK OUT MY REBLOGS WITH YOUR BASIC ASS SHENANIGANS.
In fact society pretty much devalues and makes fun of a man if he doesn’t lose his virginity or if other men think he’s a virgin even if he’s not.
key example being the 40 year old virgin which was literally a movie about a guy’s friends making him feel bad for not having sex and pretty much peer pressuring him into having sex because all men should have sex in order to be real men.
YES ^ in complete contrast with Easy A where rumor spreads that a girl lost her virginity and everyone slut-shames her, because a woman not being a virgin = slut?
while the guy she pretended to have sex with was treated like a hero.
