PSA:   Include Jewish people in your lists of minorities that are being negatively impacted by this right now. Antisemitism is real.
K but ya’ll are racist as fuck so. No.
My boy just snapped a Jewish dude w/ Trump 16 stitched into his kippah sssoooo nah
^^^^^^^^^
This is the face of antisemitism.
Fuck both of you.
Oooh I met a minority who was mean once so the ENTIRE GROUP is now bad and I’m gonna act like their plight is invalid and like they’re not targetted by the KKK and neo-nazi groups.
GENTILE SJW, YOU GOT ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SAY?
There were black people who voted for Trump. There were Latino people who voted for Trump. Hell, I bet there was even a Muslim or two that voted for him. The majority of Jews voted for Clinton (71%) and yet we seem to be the only one who are being told we don’t have a right to be scared or angry because of our minority.
More proof that the age old standard of blaming the Jews for anything that went wrong is far from dead.

My republican dad, who always votes republican, and like everyone else in my family, is Jewish, voted Clinton.

And just yesterday the white supremacists were saying Sieg Heil and saluting like fucking nazis

So FUCK OFF and include Jews in your lists of minorities who are in serious danger in this administration

let's talk Zionism

I’ve seen an awful lot of posts going around lately condemning Zionists and even condemning particular people for being Zionists.

At best, this stems from a fundamental misunderstanding of what Zionism entails. At worst, this stems from outright antisemitism.

Israel has done bad things, and it’s perfectly okay to note this and speak out against the wrongs that any institution or country has perpetrated. Of course it is.

But Zionism is merely the idea that Jews have the right to have a homeland and be protected. With thousands of years of bloody persecution and oppression behind us, hatred and violence in the present, and the promise of more to come in the future, of course Zionism took root. Zionism has been and continues to be an image of hope to many Jews.

Zionists are not Israel, Zionism is not the idea that Israel should be able to do whatever it wants without consequences. Zionists can be openly critical of the modern state of Israel and still be Zionists.

When you condemn Zionism, what we hear is that Jews do not have the right to live without oppression, that Jews cannot be trusted to make decisions for their own good, that the plans Jews make must ultimately be nefarious in nature.

Being a Zionist is not the determining factor of whether any particular person is a terrible person or not.

It’s time to stop being shocked at antisemitism in the Anti-Zionism movement.

Anti-Zionism is antisemitism.

End of story.

You do not treat Jews like colonists in their own homeland and get to say that you’re not antisemitic.

You do not get to wipe our history and culture and then claim that you care about Jews.

You do not get to say that we control the media and world governments and then say that you’re just ‘critical of Israeli policies’.

Anti-Zionists hide behind Zionists who support Palestinian rights in Israel.

It’s time to stop allowing that.

If you declare yourself an anti-Zionist you declare you want to wipe out Jews.

If you want just peace, then I hate to break it to you, you’re a Zionist.

ok so as you may know, synagogues and jewish schools in France are guarded by soldiers, and my mom was talking with one of our neighbours and the guy said “this is unfair. jews are privileged .”

we’re a minority that is so constantly targeted and actually killed that the government decided to put soldiers in front of schools and shuls and you see that as being privileged. are you so far up your own ass that you cant see the light anymore like can you at least see your brain or is it just completely empty up there

If being disproportionately picked to be murdered is a privileged then I would really like to no longer be so privileged.

This is the softball version of the classic “Jews are so lucky to have had the Holocaust because now nobody can criticize them.”

So I am absolutely fuming. A few weeks ago, I was called to the dean’s office to discuss the antisemitic bullying I’ve been enduring since freshman year (I’m a senior now). Here’s a brief run down of some of what I’ve had to suffer through these last three years (this doesn’t even scratch the surface):

• A swastika carved into my desk, along with the words “ich haße juden” ie “I hate Jews” in German • Intentionally spit on, usually accompanied by the word k*ke, the most vile word a Jewish person can be called • Pushed into lockers/to the ground • Called a “dirty Jew” more times than I can count, usually once a day

I identified the main perpetrator by name. There is proof he is a Nazi as he has a fucking swastika tattoo on his arm for everyone to see. Close after I went to the dean, the boy I accused was called to the dean. He denied everything, and received NO punishment.

I have several witnesses to these events, he is very vocal about being a Nazi, and he is the head of a neo-Nazi gang that is very active on campus. And the administration did NOTHING. I want everyone to know that antisemitism is alive and thriving, and affects Jews everywhere every day, and the world does not care. The world remains silent.

I want people to reblog this, not just like it. Please reblog this. I want everyone to know that goyim do not and never will care about Jewish people.

Some of the most important Jewish heritage sites in the Middle East have now been rebranded as Islamic heritage sites by UNESCO. Israeli archaeological activity has been condemned. Regardless of your stance on the political conflict, this should anger you. The deliberate erasure of Jewish heritage sites in the Middle East, rebranding them as “Islamic” is ahistorical and antisemitic. Barring Jews from our places of worship and denying Jewish historical connection to our holy sites is the antithesis of progressive activism. If Palestinian self-determination is hinged on the elimination of millennia of Jewish presence in the region, then it only serves to actualize Jewish fears. It should anger the many archaeologists and historians that follow me, regardless of their stance on the political conflict, that Israel is being condemned by UNESCO for archaeological digging in Jerusalem. What are they so afraid of us finding?

This isn’t about the Western Wall, it’s about Rachel’s Tomb and the Cave of the Patriarchs. I request that you please do not reblog with the “this is okay because the Kotel is safe!” commentary. Jewish historical sites aren’t limited to the western retaining wall of the foundation built by Herod the Great.

You can’t depoliticize this though. While it’s important that historical Jewish religious sites be recognized, one must keep in mind how the Israeli government uses these designations to continue their disenfranchisement, and oppression of Palestinians.

I’ve not heard much about the controversy regarding Qever Rachel Imenu, but the Tomb of the Patriarchs/Ibrahimi Mosque is definitely used as a political tool by Israel, especially to assert the occupation of Hebron/al-Khaleel, and repress the rights of non-Jews to worship there, despite a common reverence for those interred within.

It’s a moot point, really. The Israeli government is going to do whatever it wants without impunity, saying that it’s acting in the best interests of Jews the world over.

What a joke.

This is another prime example of people caring about literally anything and everything more than they care about Palestinians and then hiding that under a “despite what you feel about the issue, here is another way that Palestinians suck” type statement.

Let’s take Qaber Youssef in Nablus as an example. The Palestinians living in that area are mostly refugees in an already crowded and terrible refugee camps. And every night settlers want to perform their right to prayer, they come in on the depth of the night protected by a ton of military and terrorize the neighborhood. Clashes break and my friend in the area spends the whole night suffocating because of a tear gas induced asthma attack. Or oh, settlers on their way to prayer break into a school, break glass windows, pee and throw dead pigeons in the water tanks of the near by school.

Don’t kid yourself and act as if that’s not political and this is just another example of oh look at Palestinians being sp antisemitic jew haters, when this is much more than that.

Also, how hypocritical talking about right to prayer for Jews in Palestine but coming up with 1000 excuse why it’s ok to prevent Palestinians from going to their holy sites and praying.

What a joke indeed.

“Jewish sites shouldn’t be Jewish because settle extremists. History should be rewritten for modern political conflict.”

Revisionism is apparently fine when it comes to Jews.

Of the 3 times I’ve been to Israel only on two of those times I was not a baby and each of times I wanted to go to the Tomb of Rachel because she was a source of strength to me when I was going through hell.

But I couldn’t go because it was so unsafe that I was not to get the people I was staying with to take me there. Many times when you go to the Tomb of Rachel you get shot at. You go under armed escort and in a bullet proof bus and are still not 100% safe.

I could not go to my own heritage because it was unsafe and I could have been killed.

Seriously fuck you all who are telling Jews that it is okay for us to get harassed, hurt, killed, and erased from our own heritage, history, and land because ‘Israel’.

Go fuck yourselves.

okay, here’s a tip. “you don’t look jewish” is not a compliment. jewish girls are fucking beautiful. big curly hair is fucking beautiful. dark eyes are fucking beautiful. noses that aren’t cute little buttons are fucking beautiful. skin that isn’t porcelain white is fucking beautiful. jewish girls are gorgeous, each and every damn one of them. and if i don’t fit the stereotype, or if you know a jewish girl that doesn’t fit the stereotype, don’t you DARE tell me or them that they don’t look jewish and expect us to feel complimented. because by bringing down my beautiful jewish sisters to try and make me feel “good” about myself, you set yourself apart as someone i wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole.

Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, and Elena Kagan: You did the People Israel proud today. Kol HaKavod.

You literally can blame this on the Jews.

It’s true. For once, I welcome the cries of those who blame the downfall of ‘traditional values’ on the Jews. You got us; we took your ‘traditional values’, put them in a glass, and stomped on them at the end of a same-sex Jewish wedding. L’CHAIM.

This is a “Jewish conspiracy” I support.

Abayudaya Jewish children and synagogue in Uganda.

The Abayudaya (Abayudaya is Luganda for “People of Judah”, analogous to Children of Israel) are a Baganda community in eastern Uganda near the town of Mbale who practice Judaism. They are devout in their practice, keeping their version of kashrut, and observing Shabbat. There are several different villages where the Ugandan Jews live… Their population is estimated at approximately 2,000 having once been as large as 3,000 (prior to the persecutions of the Idi Amin regime, during which their numbers dwindled to around 300); like their neighbors, they are subsistence farmers. Most Abayudaya are of Bagwere origin, except for those from Namutumba who are Basoga. They speak Luganda, Lusoga or Lugwere, although some have learned Hebrew as well. (x)

So, I ended up watching the antisemitic OITNB episode (helpfully titled “Where My Dreidel At”), and it really was as bad as shabbosfemme described it.

It’s especially hurtful because in this scene, the gentiles are trying to pass as Jews by… invoking a bunch of stereotypes. Thus reinforcing that this is how gentiles see us, that we really are big jokes to them–just cheap neurotic people who rule the media, speak a funny language, and who really, really hate shrimp.

People will most likely say that I’m being too sensitive about it, that it’s meant to be funny and it’s harmless, but fuck that. The joke is on Jews, not gentiles. It’s making fun of their ignorance, yeah, but in a way that also makes fun of us in the process. Maybe it’d be different if OINTB strived to portray Jews at all well, but it doesn’t–Larry Bloom is as big as a stereotype as the ones these gentiles invoke–and neither does the rest of the media, so fuck it.

OINTB has a Jew problem. There. I said it.

jenji kohan is jewish. she is a jewish woman, she celebrates shabbat and goes to synagogue, if her name wasn’t enough to prove that to you.

yes these characters are showing a lot of antisemitic stereotypes. that’s the point. but it’s supposed to show how gentiles see us - and a lot of them do see us exactly this way. its reinforcing a true reality.

yeah but like, how involved was she in the writing of this episode? is the head writer of this episode, jordan harrison, jewish? who in the writer’s room is or isn’t jewish and what was their contribution? does that all matter when a bunch of people are upset that whenever judaism is brought up on the show they dredge up stereotypes, even if they’re trying to construct a “laughing with you” context to frame it? i haven’t seen the new season yet but it felt like in the first two seasons what we ended up seeing (regardless of who in the cast or crew was jewish) was christianity as centrally important to a lot of characters and judaism’s rare contribution was gags. like i heard from someone that maybe later in this third season they treat judaism with more weight but it’s stuff along these lines that contributes to the broader cultural understanding of judaism being the religion it’s cool to goof on

I get where you're coming from with the oitnb post, and you're right!! Keep watching though, there is a real black jew, who's not doing it for the food! Not saying it makes the rest okay, but it's still pretty nice turn around!!!

Thank you for this, anon! And yeah, I’m not gonna stop watching, I was just getting pretty annoyed. Seriously, thanks for telling me it’ll get better, cause the way they’ve been talking about Jews on this show is taking it a little too far.

There’s a lot of races and cultures that are talked about on this show, and so far Jews haven’t been included in that. It’s awesome that those things are represented in the show, but so far, all the Jews have gotten is stereotypes and jokes. It’s good to know there’s gonna be some actual representation!

Orange is the New Black is getting way anti-Semitic here...

I’m fine with them making jokes about white people, but when they start making fun of Jews, that’s when I get upset.

The color of my skin is white, that’s my race, but my real identity is Jewish. And to me, a couple of black girls pretending to be Jewish to get the kosher meal cause it’s better food is just as bad as some white girl claiming she’s black to seem exotic or cool, or whatever Rachel Dolezal’s deal is.

Now, it would be great if there was a black character who really was Jewish, to show that Jews aren’t just all white people and that they come in a lot of different colors, but when they try to exploit the Jewish culture and the laws of keeping kosher that a lot of Jews take seriously, then it’s pretty insulting.
