Is there a difference between cinema and movies? Yeah. The simplest way I can describe is that a movie is something you see, and cinema is something that’s made. It has nothing to do with the capture medium, it has nothing to do with where the screen is, if it’s in your bedroom, your iPad, it doesn’t even have to be a movie. It can be a commercial, something on youtube. Cinema is a specificity of vision. It’s an approach, in which everything matters. It’s the polar opposite of generic or arbitrary, and the result is as unique as a signature or fingerprint. It means that if this filmmaker didn’t make it, either it wouldn’t exist at all, or anything like this form.

Sucker Punch (2011) by Zack Snyder

What I thought of the film itself though can best be described using Roger Ebert's words:

I hated this movie. Hated, hated, hated, hated, hated this movie. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it.
