Introducing one of the species of the frontier. From my original "The Worker" series, I introduce the Dedileg. Otherwise known as the "Spike" in English.

THE RAIDERS SPECIES: VAKITANS
The Vakitan are a race of dragon-like reptiles that come from the planet, Repiten. This species, well known for their natural color variety and bio-grafting ability, are one of few that know their homeworld. They are few, yet Unthreatened, being loosely under the pereta flag. Their world, with its abundance of chemical fuels, has been a great place for trade for pereta, neutral, and Coalition worlds alike. Despite their extensive knowledge of bio-grafting and neural link, the vakitans actually have a lower technology rating than average. The vakitans are also known for their use of polygonal shapes in their designs, often triangular. In appearance, the vakitans are dragon like, with tough scales everywhere except for on the lower sides of their heads, front side of their torso and neck, crotch, inner thigh, and under-tail. Instead they have larger and softer scales there which are often a lighter shade of whatever color they are. The vakitans can be almost any color in the spectrum with variety and even different patterns appearing along their bodies. The colors become more vibrant when they have received ample sunlight and heat, which also allows them better motion. Despite being cold-blooded reptiles, the vakitans, and all other anthropomorphic reptilian species in the galaxy, actually show mammalian methods when it comes to reproduction, giving birth to live young instead of laying eggs. The vakitans almost always have spikes and horns on the back and tops of their heads, and can have spikes along their shoulders, back, and tail, with the possibility of larger spikes at the tail-tip or other odd shapes. The bio-grafting of the species allows them to grow new limbs and replace lost ones in bio-chambers, and even enhance hearing by adding, full muscle control ears over their ear holes, like canine or feline ears. Many vaktians get mounts on their backs for mechanical wings or other cybernetics that can assist in carrying, or other tasks. The wings are a type of full-moving jet-pack. The wings extend and fold out, with many steering gimbals and plates, giving the look of dragon wing bones. They allow flight, mostly for hovering and are often seen used by vakitan shock-troopers.
During the century war, the vakitans almost immediately sided with he ebrretans empire, becoming their primary fuel source. But they were also a common fuel source for the rest of the galaxy, which only made them very rich and unthreatened. The vakitans were always independent, but on the side of the berretans, all the way up to the pereta, where they provide some ships and lots of fuel. Their bio-labs also allow for the growing of organs and limbs in case one does not wish to have cybernetics instead. The vakitans never ventured far from their world, making them rare across the galaxy. Their neural links also helped many with cybernetics.
(My first reptiles! Its about time. The reptiles of the raiders have been sort of neglected as I prefer fur over scales. But they are a part of the galaxy and should get attention!)
THE RAIDERS SPECIES: ORSELANS
This species from the snowy world of Okire are one of few to know their homeworld. This race of canine like mammals are known for their black eyes, red markings, two tails, and large intersteller navy that keeps watch around their homeworld and neighboring systems. They keep to themselves and tend not to leave their space, but there are some that go for trade, exploration, recon, and sometimes skirmishes, as they are against the growing Pereta Alliance. This species is commonly compared to the Meimans for having the inverse color with markings all over their bodies and a strong space force and rich culture. However, the Orselans and Meimans do not get along and will have nothing to do with each other, mostly because of Orselan beliefs. Their fur patterns remain almost completely the same, but vary slightly from individual to individual, acting as a sort of unique 'fingerprint'. A great method of telling gender is by the shapes of the markings on each. The male's have what they call an "Odeshike" shape on their chest, while the women have a "Dejrecki", and the males have weaker markings on their stomachs than the females, while also having stronger and longer markings on their legs. On rare occasion, an orselan may have no red markings. They are very related to foxes. Outside of their species, they can only breed with pure foxes and vertixes. They have a very thick fur coat which tends to make tighter clothing less comfortable, so they tend to wear looser outfits. Their markings allow them to camouflage in the forests of their homeworld, where all foliage has red instead of green. In particular, they hide well just standing still in the red forests, where the tree limbs are covered in snow, and the bright red leaves are all around. One of their most common and most ancient dances, the dance of the red tree, comes from these forests and is a method of hiding in plain sight amongst the trees. A male Orselan is called an Orse, while a female is called a Vix.
During the century war, Orselan navy power was able to hold off the Yuratian and Berretans empires and keep Okire from falling under either rule, however a great many of them were killed and they lost many worlds. The Orselan species has been slow to regain their numbers and have been independent, even when the Antar Coalition rose against the Perets threat. When the Orselans heard of the Meiman exodus from their homeworld after the pereta attack, they chose not to send any aid, even when they were asked. The Orselans believe that black is the color of strength and that the meimans tarnish it, despite the meimans brute strength and powerful space force. They also believe white is the color of weakness, thus leading them to believe that from their white coats, their bodies are weak, but their black eyes show that they have strong souls. They look down upon those with "weak souls" (white eyes) making them very unwelcoming, and thus unwelcome themselves. It's believed that due to the Meimans involvement in the Antar Coalition, the Orselans have chosen to stay away, but they have mostly chosen to be independent for the sake of making their own decisions.
(Had a lot of fun making this speciesand their relationship with the meimans. If you couldn't tell, they are based on the nine-tailed-fox. I thought it would be fun and interesting to have a species like this as part of the raiders. Its also been a good place to test new art methods, specifically for fluff, which has worked very well)
THE RAIDERS SPECIES: MEXA
Coming from the dark, mostly desert and volcanic world of Hyo'ova, the Mexa are one of few species to know their homeworld. This race of mammals are known for their more animalistic behavior and tribal ways, as well as their impeccable ability to quickly build starships and starports. Their mass-production capabilities have never been beaten, only equaled. The mexa live in Tribes across their entire planet and are governed by a single body and are somewhat xenophobic, not making themselves known across the galaxy. They can have many different fur patterns that are typically gray markings, usually in triangle shapes, on their face and shoulders, but can also have gray bands and stripes along their head, neck, and stomach. Their fur is very thick and covers their whole bodies, which acts as an insulation on their world, protecting them from the sun and heat, but are not too suited for cold temperatures, which is what their large fluffy tails are for. Because of this, clothes can be very uncomfortable for themand tend not to wear any. But due to its thickness, they are completely concealed, thus a clothless mexa is not considered indecent. The mexa also dont wear any kind of shoes unless in EVA. The mexa are very strong and tall. They are considered to be structured closer to feral animal species more than any other race. They do not fight as many other species do, instead, they will weaken long range offensive capabilities of an opposing force, then dash in with energy shield and begin slashing with their claws and biting with their large teeth in close-quarters. However, many ground forces wear armor to strong for them, so instead they used a special weapon they developed called a "Blast-Sword" typically a laser weapon of a large pistol size with energy blade emitters. There are however larger caliber weapons with the emitters. The Mexi language, Mixia, is mostly made of vowel sounds. Consenents show more importance in their language. A common word would be almost always completely vowels, while something specific and of significance would be balanced. The Mexa are the only species to have placed a super structure around their systems star.
During the Century War, the Mexa were annexed into the Berretans empire to build their warships. The Mexa found themselves a loyal ally to the Berretans and were rewarded for their service. The Mexa built the great Gemini class dreadnoughts and the 5 Moonbases. Further into the war, the Yuratian Empire caught onto where the Berretans were getting their ships and moved in to directly assault their homeworld, Hyo'ova, burning most of its surface. The Berretans were quick to rescue as many Mexa as they could, placing them in cryo to be woken later. Those who survived the assault outside of berretans help, returned when the war was over, along with the rest who were woken when the berretans were sure to lose. With no superpower controlling them, the Mexa reconnected with another xenophobic race called the Ahm'n, who have done well to keep themselves hidden by appearing to be too primative, despite being the most technologically advanced in the galaxy. The Mexa supplied them with warships to place into their hidden arsnel and the Ahm'n gave the Mexa new technologies to aid them in their reconstruction. When the Pereta began their spread, they came to the Mexa, who quickly joined them with the promise of the new Berretans. They cut their official ties with the Ahm'n and continued doing what they did best, building warships. The Mexa tend not to speak to those they don't know, or even remotely don't like, which leads many to feel uneasy around them, or believe they can't talk in the first place.
THE RAIDERS SPECIES: FAYANS
Coming from a world of green and blue, the Fayans are one of few races to know their homeworld. This race of dog-like canines are known for their lack of technology compared to the rest of the galaxy. They lack the defensive and offensive capabilities to fight in the galactic wars and thus are ignored by either side. They are rarely seen outside of their system but do venture out in exploration vessels of varying size, but typically a ship with a crew of no more than 8. The world they live on, Filiva, is not their original homeworld. Many Millenia ago, they migrated from a planet called Friva, a world of tall mountains and low valleys. They have a rich culture and enjoy many luxuries that they have provided for themselves, such as in-system cruises. The Fayans system is a good place for tourism, as it is large and has varying planets, with Filiva having many incredible structures and high-class look, which often leads some to believe they are very high-class and look down upon others. The Fayans have several patches of fur that are different from the rest of their coats. On their ears, heads, neck, shoulders, thighs, ankles, and tails they have feather-like fur which is believed to be reminiscent of their theororized Avian ancestry, which they believed would have made sense with the environment of Friva.
The Fayans caught the attention of the starship and starfighter manufacturing company, Antesha, when they built their HPW-502 Falchion fighter. Through a trade, Antesha took the ship and redesigned it, creating a much more advanced starfighter which has been added to the Fayan arsnel, giving them a greater chance at defending themselves against the growing pirate and pereta threats.
The most commonly seen ship built by the Fayans is there Evelone S770 explorer.
THE RAIDER SPECIES: VEIPENS
Veipens are a common species across the galaxy. They, like most canines and felines, do not know their homeworld and do not have a specific culture or locations. They are as common as dogs, wolves, and foxes. They share a lot in common with other canines too, having a great sense of smell and hearing, but also possess greater eyesight. The only all Veipen exclusive thing is a starfighter and starport manufacturing company called Orbital Solutions with their most known product being the OU-1390 Courage class heavy starfighter.
THE RAIDERS SPECIES: VERTIGAL (plural: Vertixes)
Coming from the frozen world of Vertences, Vertixes are one of few species to know their homeworld. This race of fox like canines are very centered on military and technological advancement. They are known mostly for their six ears and small size. Despite their size they are very strong as their planet is slightly more massive than others. Because of the frozen nature of their planet, all life on Vertences, including Vertixes, live beneath the surface in and near geothermal caves, but a great many things also live in the colder caves. Due to the low light of many of these caves, Vertixes mainly use echolocation to see and have such precise hearing that they can feel texture with sound. They also possess great night vision as bioluminesence tends to lighten many flora filled caves. Their legs are great at jumping which helps them navigate the greater caves of their world and their thick fur keeps them warm. Vertigan cities are very unique, typically being shaped by the caves they are built in. They are typically built in massive caves, one by an underground ocean is typically the best choice. Despite their limited surface access, vertixes have achieved intersteller status as of millenia ago like many others and have spread influence, becoming a very common species. Their similar genes to many also allowed cross-breeding to give many other common races the digitigrade legs they have. Vertixes come in two colors, blue and green, and some even grow horns and split horns like small antlers. The horns are often seen as a sign of power and strength, as many high ranked officials have them. Another type of vertigal is said to exist but hasn't been confirmed yet. A multicolor, bioluminesent, deep cave dwelling vertigal, that may have gone extinct hundreds of years ago.
After the century war, a Vertigan ship was on its patrol when it stumbled across an anomalous reading in a nearby system. The ship went to investigate, a deeper scan in system showed the signal to be coming from a moon. The ship moved in slow, maintaining scans. The signal source came from. A leftover berretans moonbase that was completed just after the war, too late to enter. Penetrating scans would not enter the structure, so the vertigan ship began using a drill beam to cut under the surface. The moonbase however was occupied by pereta forces and this would be the day of their awakening. The moonbase grabbed the vertigan ship with an attractor beam and was waiting to charge weapons to destroy it. The vertigan ship had weapons troubles as the gimbals were locked by the beam. Eventually they ere able to blast the emitter and get free. They pulled away to warn the galaxy, but were being jammed and a giant berretans warship, now under pereta control, went to intercept the destroyer. A chase battle commensed. A scan revealed holes in the destroyers shields and the vertigan ship maneuvered for a missile Salvo. The massive gemini-class was disabled and broke away, but the vertixes were too late. The moonbases weapons came online and blasted the ship to dust. Moonbase Alpha had come alive and later Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Epsilon followed. The Reconstruction War had begun.
THE RAIDERS SPECIES: MEIMANS
Hailing from the diverse world of Yetalo, the Meimam species is one of few in the galaxy to know their homeworld. This race of wolf-like canines are known for their warrior-centric culture and resilient body-structure. The high gravity content of their world would have caused great cardiovascular problems for them if it weren't for their second hearts. This also gives them an edge in starfighter piloting, being able to handle greater rotational speeds without power-extensive dampening, allowing their fighters to be smaller, more maneuverable, and even have more powerful weapons. Their world possessed a great magnetic field which blocked them from more radiation than other species from other worlds, which made their natural radiation resistance very low. The meimans possess great strength which they use in their hand-to-hand combat art known as Tach-rah. This form of combat is performed with a set of limb armor know as Meika, which is typically placed on the lower arms and shins as well as the upper feet to be used as a blunt-force weapon against enemies. Over the centuries, the Meika have been upgraded to incorporate different technologies, from simple data interfaces, to complex shield arrays, making the Meika into effect defensive shielding against kinetic and energy weapons. The Meimans quick reaction times make a Meika-wielding Meiman a force to be reckoned with against all other martial arts, and even most ranged attacks. The Meimans most notable features are their orange stripes which are unique to every Meiman, but always follow similar patterns. Many outsiders believed the stripes were a sort of fur tattoo, but, in fact, are completely natural. Despite most males being much larger and stronger looking than the often-cute-looking females, they both posses the same level of strength and resilience, especially since their exodus.
101 years after the Century war, the Pereta had taken control of the moonbase over Yetalo. With the Meimans being uncooperative with them, the Pereta laid waste to Yetalo, leaving the Meimans with no homeworld. All that remains of the Meiman civilization and culture exist in great nomadic fleets. The hearts of these fleets are the battle-carriers known as Sele-stars. A hybrid between destructive capital ship and high capacity carrier, making them one of the most offensively and defensively capable ships in the galaxy.
(This species is an absolute favorite original species of mine. They were originally made to be part of their own standalone sci-fi, but with little traction [and fear of too much similarity between Battlestar galactica] I decided to abandon the project. But loving the species so much, I wanted to continue working with them. So with a little tweaking, I added them to The Raiders, as another original species with their own story to further expand The Raiders)

Also in The Raiders is a species called the Mexa!
In appearance, they are the most feral species. Their fur comes in several patterns.
Their species is aligned with the Pereta where they help build starships. Since the Berretans Empire in the century war, the Mexa have been building starships and warships at a very quick rate.
Note: this is what the males look like. Their body structure just looks a little feminine.
The Vertigal species has several variances. The most common is the Blue Vertigal
They, like ever other vertigals have 6 ears. 4 normal sized ones on the back of the head, and 2 small ones on top.
A little less common is the green Vertigal.
Exactly the same, but with green instead of blue.
Both can come with horns near their smallest ears.
Less common than just horns are split horns.
Meet Radar Protogen
The year is 2023. An alien race has come to remove a "possible threat" and claim resources. Terrans find themselves at a major disadvantage.
I have made my own species. An aggressive space faring race called the Dedj'her
Protogens are taking over everything now. These are my creations: Xeon and Prysm.
