my current experience of reading Jade City for the first time is watching myself get attached to a Ned-Stark coded man, and wondering how badly this is going to end for me.
review of Jade City:
- epic high fantasy politics mashed up with Hong Kong gangster noir
- multiple hot, intelligent women in positions of political power
- a clash between capitalism, imperial powers, and family ties
- magical jewellery that incites madness, One Ring style?
....Brennan Lee Mulligan would really like this book.

I saw that you’re enjoying Deeplight by Frances Hardinge! If you haven’t read it already I’d highly recommend one of her other books Unraveller, it’s very folklore influenced and yet is still very original with amazing world building :)
