when people take silly little online polls on tumblr dot com too seriously
when people take irl polling as scientific fact
when people irl take any sort of science as a fact
Reddit sucks bc on there you make a comment like this and people downvote it but on here it would have 10 thousand notes

Honorary Antifa Supersolider
In case you, a U.S. voter, were feeling iffy about voting for Kamala Harris, here’s a reminder of the shit that went down under Trump…
Yeah, remember when his administration SENT UNMARKED PARAMILITARY FORCES into cities to quell BLM protests? Not “riot police” - tactical, militarized units with identifying tags and numbers deliberately removed or obscured.
Oh shit…. you probably forgot about that, didn’t you? There was so much going on in 2020, it’s natural to block out stuff, but if you have the power and the privilege of voting in this year’s elections don’t you DARE allow this man back in office, especially when he is CURRENTLY saying stuff like this:
[x]
[x]
[x]
[x]
[x]
[x]
In case you were a kid in 2020 and protected from seeing what happened
You need to know what’s at stake here. This stuff? was a TEST RUN. Look up everything that happened those years. Everything you can find from 2016 and Standing Rock to 2020 and Black Lives Matter and the Riots and then look up Jan 6 and the attempted coup on our government.
THEN VOTE
christian missionary work is a millennias-long social experiment to find out what the dumbest thing someone could possibly do is
reading about foreigners detained in North Korea, and a solid 40% of them were just missionaries
"it's my god-given right and duty to force my religion into these people, whether they want it or not" is an attitude which has led to many millions of atrocities over the millennia, but it's also led people to do things like travel to They Kill You Here Island (you'll never guess what happened)
what happened to the skeleton war, you guys used to love the skeleton war

Tradwives need to realize the seriousness of the shit they are getting themselves into.
The society isn't all that kind to women.
op I'm very sorry but I can't just let this go by in the tags
i mean a very big problem is they didn't just get this idea out of nowhere because they're stupid. their mom and dad probably told them this when they were girls. and everyone at church also tells them this. and the influencers they follow right now are also reassuring them that this is exactly how it works. and their husbands are absolutely relying on them to believe this too.
like, you are not going to be the bolt from the blue that enlightens them. everyone they love and trust at this time in their life is telling them that marriage is a very simple bargain and that they can trade goodness for happiness forever. you, an asshole, are not gonna do anything but briefly annoy them.
instead maybe try to offer them resources they might be able to use, when it turns out you're right.
Mobility assistance
yeah maybe just avoid all food with chicken in it in the united states for a bit...just until they figure out all of who is in possession of the listeria chicken (also includes a lesser amount of beef and maybe other meat)
if you saw the chicken get slaughtered yourself, or you know for a fact that the food you are eating contains no ingredients from brucepac, then you should be safe from the brucepac recall. but this recall is millions of pounds larger than the boar's head recall that shut down delis across the country.
the origin of the ingredients in food are not listed on the package or on the websites of most institutions in the case of restaurants and industrial food type places. the united states government does not even have a complete list yet, apparently. whether or not food contains ingredients from brucepac is almost impossible for a consumer to know.
if you do call or email to ask, you want to ask, "where do you source your chicken/meat/etc?" or "do you source any meat or poultry ingredients from brucepac?" and go from there.
consumer brands that have at least one item involved in the recall (so far, the recall list is updating daily, consider this list incomplete):
trader joe's, good and gather, boston market, atkins, dole, marketside, red's, little salad bar, fresh express, HEB, whitsons culinary group, rao's, michael angelo's, el monterey, fusia, trader ming's, amazon fresh, meijer, giant eagle, kroger, signature select, taylor farms, raley's, michelina's, eat!, garden choice, jenny craig, great value, udi's, wegmans, 7-eleven, freshly made, a bunch of generic brands, ready meals, amazon kitchen, home chef, racetrack, save mart, bistro 28, and don pancho.
most of the recalled items are ready made foods like salads, chicken tikka masala, chicken and rice, chicken fajita, chicken piccata, chicken fried rice, pasta, pasta salads, chicken lo mein, chicken alfredo, meal kits, pasta bowls, quesadillas, burrito bowls, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, taquitos, wraps, and frozen dinners that you just heat up. refrigerated and frozen foods.
and this is in addition to a TON of bulk food that is in the freezers of restaurants and food industry type places, and ingredients that are used in generic ready made foods across the country.
the recall list is incomplete. all of the listeria meat has not been located, identified, or removed from circulation yet. although a hefty chunk of the recall involves salads that have gone bad by now, many of the recalled items have best by dates into 2025 and 2026.
FDA recall link (just a few of them are listed here)
october 15-17, 2024: the recall has expanded by a few million more pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat, and most notably now contains more beef. this recall now involves nearly twelve million pounds of chicken AND beef.
FSIS announced that contaminated beef and chicken were also sent to schools, and there is not currently a full list of which schools received the listeria meat. a "preliminary" list of schools has been released here.
states on the preliminary list with at least one school that received listeria-contaminated meat: PA, OH, FL, MI, NY, DC, TN, IA, MO, WV, NJ, GA, IL, KY, WI.
new brands with at least one recalled item: nutrisystem, thrive life, kitchenmate, valley food storage, evol, premier. several brands that have previously recalled items now have new items involved in the recall.
new type of recalled food worth noting: freeze dried chicken is now involved in the recall.
according to the FSIS, the list of schools and list of recalled items are still incomplete. there are still more contaminated foods that have not been named or removed from shelves, and these lists are being updated as more are discovered.
if you buy your meat raw and cook it yourself, you are not affected by this recall. this recall involves chicken and beef that is purchased already cooked.
this recall will continue to expand. the official recall list now includes the date last updated. thank you to whichever FSIS employee started adding the date and time!

Conservatives are going nuts oner this
Yeah. The unrealized gains tax would only apply to you if your net worth is 100mil+.
This is so good because it closes the loophole.
The standard argument against this is that stocks and property are stuff, not money. That until it turns into money again you don't know how much you made; you might think your stock portfolio is worth more or less than it is, but it's only worth what someone will pay for it, so it's only taxed when you sell it. And that's fair! That is entirely fair. That's a good fair capital gains tax- you sold a thing, you gained a lot of capital, you get taxed.
But.
It gets counted like money when it comes to getting loans, and this is how the ultra wealthy live. They don't sell stock to make money and then pay tax- they say to the bank, look how much stock I have. You know I'm good for it. Loan me the same amount of money as I'd get for selling this portion of my stocks, and when it comes time I'll sell the stocks and pay you back with interest.
They take out loans to pay the loans, usually. Because they get to keep all their stuff, and it keeps appreciating in value, they're still good for it.
Then, when they die, their estate includes all the stuff they own- including their stocks- and those stocks are used to pay off the loans, and crucially, they DON'T PAY CAPITAL GAINS TAX on that, because of how estates work.
This closes that loophole. If it counts as money sometimes, it has to count as money all the time.
Prev these are some good tags
Those tags are LEGIT. Canada has gotten so bad in recent years because provincial governments are so confident overstepping in wake of Trump. I cannot stress enough how important it is that all Americans get out and vote.
I don't care how you feel more moral not voting because it matters so so so much and anyone trying to tell you otherwise is doing so to get Trump or someone like him back in power by using your non vote. It's bad for everyone.
Do not let them convince you not to vote.
Please. I do not want my cousins talking about how Canada "needs to be more like the states because conservatives down there know how to do it right".
Trans rights in Canada are a genuinely under attack in the prairie provinces and some of the maritimes because provincial governments are emboldened by and mimicking what's happening in the states.
USA has far too much power because your election results actually impact the rest of the world.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
