Jon Snow is a bastard (and he cannot be compared with the Velaryon boys, there a difference between a LEGAL bastard and a RUMORED bastard), he has no claim whatsoever. It’s physically impossible for him to be legitimate and the only people who can vouch for his identity are a tree wizard and his visions and some guy nobody has seen for 15 years.

Young Griff (who isn’t even Rhaegar’s son) threw any legitimacy out of the window the moment he landed in Westeros without Daenerys and claims to be the same boy who had his head dashed against the wall. Again, the people of Westeros won’t believe his brain grew back solely because he has a penis. “Has the sun curdled your brains, Flowers ? We need the girl. We need the marriage. If Daenerys accepts our princeling and takes him for her consort, the Seven Kingdoms will do the same. Without her, the lords will only mock his claim and brand him a fraud and a pretender.” ADWD, The Lost Lord.

Tell these things to any stan still rooting for him and him lord, not Dany, for xyz, but definitely misogyny. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Why do people forget that Rhaegar’s line was literally disinherited by Aerys ? TWOIAF states plainly that Viserys was Aerys II’s new heir. Daenerys holds the title of Princess of Dragonsone in AGOT. Neither Young Griff nor Jon Snow have a claim to the Iron Throne.

Because she's a woman and Jon is a man that even in-world lords would rather have to follow than Daenerys, the female Essosi-lived ex-bridal slave of a Dothraki savage. Young Griff, also male even though he, too, might as well be "Essosi".

Not only did the Dance strengthen the preference and seeming validity of male leadership, readers themselves who are inclined towards female victimhood, male herosim, hype for hype's sake, etc. will also continue to be unserious.

Crying everyday and twice on a sunday about Elia’s Italian children yet cheering for the murder of Rhaego who is CANONICALLY BROWN is certainly a choice.

Throwing tantrums cause Daenerys living is supposedly an act of racism over Rhaenys Jasmine Targaryen Martell half Muslim and half Hindu kween of the Middle East and South Asia dying yet cheering for Rhaego’s death.

Cheering for Young Griff allegedly brown-skinned boy seeking justice for his mama (plot twist: he’s not Elia’s son and he doesn’t give a single fuck about her) killing white supremacist Daenerys and stealing her dragons yet cheering for the death of Rhaego.

The only people who cheer on the murder of Rhaego, a brown baby (since they want to emphasize race, we can do it too) are Martells stans & Starks stans (who will always gaslight you into believing that these white settler colonialists are a mix between Siberian indigenous peoples & descendants of Black chattel slavery). Very unserious and racist people. Which is why I don’t care about Elia and her children dying nor do I care about the Starks being slaughtered and losing the North. God bless 🙏

"Rhaenys Jasmine Targaryen Martell half Muslim and half Hindu kween of the Middle East and South Asia"

"these white settler colonialists are a mix between Siberian indigenous peoples & descendants of Black chattel slavery"

I just don't have any words for this masterpiece. Bless you, anon.

(I agree with all this, btw. yes, Elia's death, her kids' deaths, etc. was insanely tragic but they really pull this shit only when characters they see resemble parts of Dany or Dany herself "rock the boat"...plus female characters should not be valued in how their sons will avenge them).

It is so funny to see Martell’s stans being pro-Young Griff’s conquest knowing that Young Griff’s primary kingmaker was in love with Rhaegar & hated Elia, and Young Griff himself never mentions Elia. The Golden Company was founded by Aegor “I hate the Dornish” Bittersteel and his anti-Dorne friends. Young Griff’s kingmakers and armies are all Blackfyres and Blackfyre’s allies so while they go around accusing Daenerys/Daemon/Rhaenyra of being blood purists, the Targaryen man they support is propped up by actual blood purists. It’s insane, how are you against a Targaryen restoration but want Young Griff on the throne ???

mmmm......never pondered this, great points.

ASOIAF stans can be very annoying because a common characteristic in any discussion about leadership in this series always delves into readers zeroing in on failures while they completely write off any successes. This happens with just about any person thrust into a position of power, but I see these bizarre standards most applied to Jon Snow and Daenerys (especially Dany). You’d think that after years and years of analyzing the text to death, we’d come up with more compelling arguments than “Jon Snow bad Lord Commander” and “Dany bad (she’s just bad)”. Fans have decided to define these two by the mistakes they make while completely writing off all the good they do. And then the most baffling thing is when they say that Dany and Jon are failures so someone else should be the endgame ruler….and then they name Young Griff as their chosen champion.

Setting aside the obvious role Aegon plays as a narrative foil to Jon and Dany, how can anyone say he would do a better job? He has done literally nothing. His skills are a blank slate. Where is the evidence that he would have better reforms for the Watch than Jon did? That he would know how to better handle the different factions at the Wall than Jon did? That he would know how to prepare for the upcoming food shortage than Jon did? Where is the evidence that he would know how to better handle Meereen than Dany did? That he would know how to better deal with the obviously gargantuan task of abolishing slavery?

The point is that ruling is hard. There’s no such thing as a perfect ruler in this series and if anyone thinks that there is, they obviously have not been paying attention. All who have been put in a position of leadership in this story fail in some way. That’s the nature of the job. Even good-hearted, well-intentioned people like Jon and Daenerys struggle with the weight of leadership. So even as they do such incredible good, they still have blind spots. That’s because they’re human and human beings are not perfect. And let’s be real, people would complain if they were suddenly so good at ruling despite their young age and inexperience. So it’s insane to me that fans will read these books and come to the conclusion that all that is needed, instead of Jon and Dany, is a perfect leader who will make everything ok - even more baffling when they name Aegon/Young Griff or some other person who has zero experience with administration so far. Please, let us be serious for once.

Aegon /Young Griff is well-educated and shows proficiency with a sword, but his decisions are usually made by people around him with even his pursuit of the Iron Throne having been a decision made by Varys and Illyrio before his birth. His only decision was to sail for Westeros.

People can miss that Aegon is meant to be a blank canvas for people to project their dreams onto. To Connington, Aegon is his shot are redemption and closure. To Varys and the Golden Company, he is the longtime dream of House Blackfyre coming to fruition, to Myles Toyne (and possibly Wenda the White Fawn, Septa Lemore) his/their revenge against House Targaryen, to the High Sparrow, his pious king, and to Arianne, her means to become queen and one-upping her brother Quentyn.

Everyone around him sees him as a means to their own ends, and not for his abilities as a ruler.

oh? what do we have here? i thought that everyone will unquestionably believe in the legitimacy of young griff? i thought that the second he sets foot in westeros, all of the kingdoms will just throw themselves under his feet? i thought that dany will go mad once she learns that he is unquestionably loved by everyone and she is not and will be put down like a dog with rabies and her dragons go to someone more deserving? weird!

Robb’s Will is often lamented as the most disregarded royal declare since sansa stans (that make seemingly 80% up of the fandom on all social platforms) refuse to accept that she has been disinherited as it puts an end to all their rIgHtfUl QitN headcanons, but there is one that tops it; King Aerys’s declare to disinherited Rhaegar’s line after his death and appointment of his second son as his heir.

Asoiaf fandom unfortunately suffers the whole "women are emotional, men logical" while fAegon's throwing tantrums over a board game whereas Dany spares the life of a guy who tries to spit on her, not to mention theories how Arianne will lose all horny over fAegon whereas Quentyn being an entitled dragon thief and Nice Guy gets him written that laughably pretentious and tone-deaf Heart of Darkness meta. I don't even need to get into fandom's treatment of Stannis vs. Arya but I know that Arya would never sacrifice her own daughter just to win a battle.

I always go back to the example of Aegon throwing the cyvasse pieces to the ground and making Tyrion pick them up. If Dany had treated a person who had just saved her from a Stone Man like that, the question of whether or not she'll go mad would be immediately settled. In fact, Tyrion compares Aegon to Joffrey. Again, if he'd compared Dany to Joffrey, we would have no ground left to argue about whether or not Dany will go mad. Yet if you look at how the fandom talks about Dany vs. Aegon, Dany is apparently the second coming of the Devil and Aegon is the prodigal son come home. It's insane.

"You are her perfect prince, agreed, bright and bold and comely as any maid could wish. Daenerys Targaryen is no maid, however. She is the widow of a Dothraki Khal, a mother of dragons and a sacker of cities, Aegon the Conqueror with teats. She may not prove as willing as you wish."—Tyrion Lannister to Aegon Targaryen (Young Griff)

I’ve never understood why people believe that Griff will be more accepted in Westeros than Dany, because they also say that Targaryen’s are hated in Westeros and won’t be welcomed (untrue), but they conveniently forget that when it comes to Griff, who is only doing what he’s doing because of his supposed Targaryen heritage, he’s trying to reclaim Westeros as Rhaegar Targaryen’s son and no one else, not to mention that I highly doubt people who still support Targaryen’s in Westeros (which is a lot more than this fandom is willing to accept) are going to believe Rhaegar’s dead son, survived the sack of KL during the Rebellion, in comparison to Daenerys, who is known as Rhaegar’s sister in Westeros and an undisputable Targaryen (unlike Griff) would receive a far better welcoming than Griff. Not saying it isn’t possible for him to still have supporters in Westeros and Dany won’t have those against her, both are likely. But, just the hypocritical mindset that Griff will be more welcomed as a Targaryen and not Daenerys, when Griff even needs her desperately for his plan to work and so much more about this mindset with Griff that doesn’t make a lick of sense to me when it comes to certain ASOIAF people (although they are probs GOT watchers who believe the show at the same time)... This fandom is so dumb it’s actual hell

I think it's more that those antis Dany want him to be accepted, nonnie. It’s not about logic, and what they’re saying not making any sense to you is a very good sign. Literally, who cares about Young Griff and finds his character amazing? Yet, there are actually people writing posts about how he would be a good King. Let's be honest: they don't like Young Griff, this isn't about him at all. It's about Dany and the fact they hate her. It's about them not wanting her to be Queen, least of all a good Queen. And it's also about misogyny, let's face it.

Those are the same people saying Dany is arrogant (she's not, but Young Griff is) and listing all her flaws when you just have to read both her chapters and his chapters to know who would be a good Queen and who would be a bad King. They also say that he has experience she doesn't since he was trained to be King all his life, which isn't true. He's been raised to be King, he has allies to support his (false) claim, but he never had to rule people. He literally has no idea what being King implies and doesn't understand the people, unlike Dany who wasn't raised to be Queen at all.

It's actually an important message: none of the five key players had been raised to be a leader (far from it), they're outcasts, and they're the ones who have shown the best leadership traits. GRRM isn't without flaws and his books aren't either, but when it comes to this? He knows absolutely what he's doing. The qualities a good ruler should have that are attributed to Young Griff are the ones Dany have been showing through the books.

There’s also another reason why they support Young Griff and want him to be the son of Rhaegar and Elia: their hate towards almost all Targaryens, who are white supremacists (all Dany stans and Targaryens stans are also racists, by the way) because they’re white and blonde and BIPOC characters suffered and died because of them. Elia Martell? Rhaegar’s fault. Quentyn Martell? Dany’s fault. Dorne has suffered so much because of House Targaryen, and Young Griff will show the people of Westeros how kind he is and will honor his mother’s memory, while his supporters will tell everyone the horrors Daenerys commited and how much she doesn’t care about the people. So, when Dany will come and see how the people love him and hate her, she’ll burn KL like in the show because she’s mad and a tyrant.

So again, it’s not about Young Griff. In fact, they don’t care if he’s a Targaryen or if he’s a Blackfyre. It’s about Dany. Her haters have to rewrite canon and go as far as defend slavery to be able to say she’s an awful ruler, a colonizer, a tyrant, a mad woman (emphasis on woman, please)... Her Satanic Majesty, like in the script of the show’s finale, basically. I wasn’t in the ASOIAF fandom before the show aired (I started to read the books after watching the first season, in 2013 I think), but it’s not new. The show did make things worse though: for them, it confirmed their smart theories and how delusional Dany stans are.

Yes, this fandom can be extremely stupid and toxic.
