And I don't blame you bc Originally (Roku is only half sns) I said he didn't, which I only now just Recently retconned bc I liked the idea of leaning into the fishy-ness.

He only has gills along his ribs where as normally sns raen would have 2 sets.

You got it!!

So his Dorsal fin isn't his only aquatic trait, he also has a Foldable Ribcage.

Because of this, he wears some pretty solid padding under his armor around his torso. His Dorsal fin at it's most relaxed state is mostly folded, it just starts to get uncomfortable when Roku fights or is active with that constriction bc its a natural muscle response is for it to unfold during sharp movements since his body cannot stop the instinct to use it as if he were still in water. At that point its just being Held down and I can imagine if he has a particularly physically taxing day then it feels Amazing to take everything off and let it breathe.

As for your next thought...Yeah, kinda! When he's out and about he prefers to wear full armor, but when he is lounging around or in casual wear he does prefer clothing with open backs! Not only to let it breathe but because Roku's dorsal fin is very sturdy even though its collapsable. If hes wearing regular clothes and he sneezes or yawns it can pull the fabric and ruin whatever hes wearing bc it's just something he can't control 100%

This isn't just him though. Since Sui-No-Sato raen (in my canon) have these traits a lot of their more casual clothing also have open backs for this exact reason.
