Another Night  - Oliver/Felicity - (6x01 episode fic)

A/N: Wow!  I did not expect to write this or have it be this long or have it feel this good to write again!  I’ve missed this and missed these two so much!  But @anthfan and I are trying to write more this season and are challenging each other to do it so I sat down and tried after the episode last night.  It’s good to write Oliver and Felicity again.  I hope you enjoy this little missing scene fic from 6x01 last night!

The look on William’s face when he’d pointed at him was seared in his memory - the haunted, scared look of a boy who’d had his whole world turned upside down and blamed him.

He’d tried so hard to reach him - to give him the space he needed but with structure and comfort.

A/N:  It’s been SO LONG!  I almost forgot how to do this!  But I needed the scene where Oliver finds out just how Felicity got the location on Walker, and it turned into something else as it usually does.

The moment he opened the door to usher them into the room, she gasped, a small yelp escaping her lips.

“Felicity…”

A/N: Hey everyone!  So I have had part of this written since this summer when we found out Felicity’s father would be a part of this season and I first heard Piece by Piece by Kelly Clarkson and it brought me to tears.  

Fueled by 4x13 and the lack of moments between Felicity and Oliver when they could really sit down and talk about her father’s return without League stuff looming over them, I finally tweaked and finished it.

It had been a long day.

Long didn’t quite cover it, but her brain was too tired to come up with another word.

But Oliver had made it better by insisting on making them dinner.  A delicious meal of Chicken Marsala and roasted potatoes.  

He’d even insisted on carrying her up to their bedroom so she could rest while he cleaned up in the kitchen when he noticed her yawning.

She drifted in and out of consciousness, shifting figures and voices waking her.  She heard a particular voice she was searching for and tried to reach for it, pushing towards the surface in the darkness in which she was swimming only to run out of energy and time and find herself falling backwards into nothing but blackness once again.

The voices got louder, clearer, and it wasn’t until she finally heard and felt his presence that she was able to push clear through the darkness and force her eyes to move, heavy lids blinking open.

Blurry shadows and figures greeted her and she blinked trying to focus.

She heard her name - a soft, gentle, desperate plea.

Lights hung from the ceiling and candles glowed from the nearby tables as Oliver handed her a flute of champagne while taking a long sip of the brandy he’d gotten from the bar.

His hand rested high on her waist, his fingers playing with one of the two zippers that adorned her dress - one that he’d been fascinated by since the moment he saw her in it at the loft.

Donna made a noise a few seconds after taking her first bite followed my some unintelligible words and then she grasped Felicity’s arm.

“This is amazing,” she exclaimed, her eyes wide. “Where did you learn to cook like this?”

Oliver Queen keeps a notebook.

He came back to Starling City with a worn brown notebook.  A notebook full of names.  Names of the people who were corrupting the city he loved.  Names of people that his father gave him to right his wrongs.

And for a year he worked from that notebook; going after the people who had tried to destroy his city and who ultimately destroyed his father.  

Now, Oliver Queen has a new notebook.  And in it aren’t names, but dates.  Dates of the days and the moments that he’s collected since he returned.  

He has a fall day in October written in red ink (underlined and bolded) when he met his future wife.  

Another date for the night he gained a brother.  He has the date his mother shot him; the same night Felicity learned his secret.  

The night when he lost his best friend.  A day he returned home once more, and the day he realized he’d fallen in love.

He has all the dates - each one marking a gain or a loss. He writes them all down in his new notebooks - not because he thinks he’ll forget, but because for five years, he forgot how to live.

And then he got a second chance.  So he fills his new notebook with dates and times and memories.

And when he flips through them he finds that there is one name that is on every other page.  A name that brought light and happiness back into his life.

Felicity.

Oliver Queen has notebooks with dates and memories and moments that tell about his life and how he chose to live it.

And the newest one he put in it was tonight when he asked his best friend to become his wife.   

All there is on one page is the date and three words in red ink.

She said yes.
