Loved this! I need to know that things between them aren’t as closed off as it seemed. In the ep, Felicity seemed to have no qualms or hesitation about the job. And that disturbed me because this is Felicity. She cares. She wouldn’t lie to them. She has no reason to feel guilty. She has worked hard and deserves to be head of Applied Sciences. So, her actions felt foreign to me. I know some say she was sparing Oliver’s feelings or that she doesn’t owe him that, but…that just doesn’t ring true to the woman we’ve gotten to know over the last 2 years. I like that Oliver went to her. That he sought her out to ease her mind. That he wanted her to know he supported her, regardless of what has transpired between them. That’s what true friendship is about. He should want her to be happy, even if he’s not the one to give it to her. Felicity’s relief that Oliver is there with her, that he’ll always be there for her, is a testament to the strength of their bond. 

I just need my babies to keep their friendship going strong because beneath all of the romantic angst, they are best friends. And a day will come when Oliver will realize that it’s better to live in the moment than worry about a future that might never come, and when that happens, I want Felicity to be happy with her life and her choice to be with him. 

Oh, honey, thank you so much!!!!  I am so glad you enjoyed this one so much!  I really did love writing it, and exploring the possibility of this episode through a different lens.  I really think we aren't seeing things in the episodes.  Just because they are giving each other some distance right now, does not mean they are not still best friends and partners.  I truly do think that although she took the job in somewhat the heat of the moment, she did tell Oliver and they did talk about it.  (I could very well be proven wrong, but until I am, that is what I'm believing because the other does not go with the characterization so far.)  I completely agree with your statements.  She would tell him.  She would talk to him.  And he would understand.

I think we'll see that distance evaporating more in the coming episodes because under it all they are best friends and that is not changing (nor are their feelings but that is an entirely different post...lol.)  

I agree, Oliver will realize exactly that and that is what this season is about for him - finding that identity and realizing that he isn't just one or the other - he's both Oliver Queen and The Arrow and he's been both of those people to Felicity.  She's never seen him as one or the other, but both - the man and the hero.

This felt so intimate and sad, Hope. I loved these sections…”There was nothing that soothed her quite the way that hearing Oliver’s heartbeat did. Her computer servers were a close second” and then your having Oliver say “One”, yeah that crushed me.
