A/N: Hey guys!  So I wrote this awhile back when we heard we were going to get a coffee callback.  I really wanted a scene between Oliver and Felicity with this, but alas…so here’s my fix.

(Also, there are a few things different than the episode because of the fact that I wrote it before the episode aired.  I hope you still think it’s in character for them.)

She’d barely been at work for more than an hour, trying to get her bearings in a new job in a building that held so many memories.

As much as she loved being in an office of her own again, with a title and her name on the door, it still didn’t feel right. Not that she didn’t belong here. She knew she did. Knew she’d earned this job with her own skills and resume, but it wasn’t with the right person.

The mission went off without a hitch - almost too easily - which is why the second she heard the scuffles start, her connections to all three of the guys fill with static and her screens go dark, her stomach plummeted.

“Oliver!” she tried frantically, one hand pressed to her ear where her Blue-Tooth held the only connection to him.

Her heart raced in her chest when she got nothing but static - a sound that was repeated on both Diggle’s and Roy’s comms.

IT’s been a horrible day and apparently I decompress by writing.  So this was inspired by THIS GIFSET.

voice of reason - oliver/felicity - pg (2x19 drabble)

It was chaos in his head.  Voices screaming at him to do something, anything; voices telling him not too.  He couldn’t do this.  He couldn’t sit back while his family was threatened.  He couldn’t.

And then he heard her voice.

Quiet but commanding break through the din.

His eyes flicked up and found hers as she stepped up to him, Diggle and Sara quieting.

"Go."

His chest expanded, the vice gripping at his heart in an unbearable pain easing as he gazed into her blue eyes - calm and confident.

Releasing a breath, he felt that tiny thread of sanity he’d been clinging to, strengthen and twine around itself, making itself stronger as she stepped to his side.

"Go.  Get Thea.  Stop Slade.  Do whatever it takes.  End this, once and for all."

With each word, she advanced until she was inches from him.  Her eyes never left his and her words were a command and a benediction.  She was behind him - whatever decisions he made - she understood.

It was all he needed to hear.  With renewed strength and determination, he stepped backwards and pried his gaze from hers, taking her strength and courage and confidence and absolute belief in him with him as he went.

He’d end this - for all of them.  For her.

And no matter what happened, they’d be there when he returned.  She’d be there to welcome him home.
