#listen: i know people give Buffy shit for how she treated the potentials#but listen:#giles just showed up at her doorstep with 20+ adolescent girls expecting her to feed. house. and train them#KNOWING she was already struggling mentally and financially#IMO this was really. really unfair to Buffy#but as usual she stepped up to the plate and did her damndest to teach these girls How Not To Die#could she have done it better?Yeah#but given the circumstances I think she did the best she could#and I don’t think she gets enough credit #or enough consideration#for where she was at on a personal level#when the Potentials were thrown into her lap #btvs #buffy summers#Me: the No. 1 Buffy stan #buffy season 7  (copied from @flaminganakin)

This, but also, acting as if Buffy was somehow wrong to not treat it like one big slumber party is insane. If these girls didn’t shape the fuck up quickly, not only were they all going to die, but the world was going to end.

No one understands the unfairness of being drafted into a war as a teenage girl better than Buffy does, and if she could change it for these girls, I believe that she would, but she can’t. She can’t give them ‘fair’. She can’t leave them out of it, because if she does they’ll all be slaughtered, and the world will be fucked.

The only thing she can do for these girls is try to make them into the best warriors they can be. And she doesn’t have time to do it gently. She is not their camp counselor, she is preparing them for war.

Were there times she was too harsh? Yeah, sure. But she wasn’t exactly just being a bitch for the sake of it, and she did as well as any sane person could have possibly expected.
