The Fox Verse by Anonymous
This is not a post for my own fic; instead it's a rec for a fic series that I've absolutely fallen in love with that has been shared by an anonymous author in the Anonymous Unicorns collection. The summaries don't do the beauty of this series justice, but they do handily describe the action:
A Den In Kettils Mews: Harry and Louis are two London foxes in love.
Tale of a Vixen: Louis and his mate Harry enjoy a quiet home life under a oak tree in a North London park. There is only one thing missing from their peaceful idyll; a litter of their own.
But here's what I will say: Inspired in part by the writing style of Hans Christian Anderson, these stories have a hazy, fairytale-like quality that I can only describe as fantastical realism. Harry and Louis are foxes, and their animal natures and activities are key to the story, but their personalities and humanity shine through like sunlight dappling the grass outside the den they make together.
Both installments contain beautifully written smut and complex thoughts about family, sex, and gender, all explored through the eyes of two well-rendered versions of Harry and Louis.
This is the author's first fic, but the way they use language feels practiced and intentional. This is a series I can see myself re-visiting time and time again, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I mean. I made a fic post for it!!
Please consider giving this unusual and exciting fic a shot, and leave kudos/comments if you enjoy it-- that's how we'll get more!!
