Loving him was never easy, sometimes it felt like he was actively working against you and doing everything in his power to keep you on the sidelines of his soul. In some damaged way he was testing you, waiting for the day when you would break and leave him behind, but you always stayed. There had been times when you had doubted the love you felt for him, unsure if it was strong enough to keep you both afloat in a universe that wanted to drown you. But then there were also those times when he would give you that rare little smile, the one specifically designed for your eyes only. When he smiled at you, the doubts and insecurities that had webbed lies in your mind would be crushed to pieces. You had left the order for him, sacrificing the life you had always known for a love you had barely experienced. That did not matter to you, for in the depths of your soul you knew that it would always be him, the sniper with the cold eyes that only warmed when watching you. After leaving your old life behind, you had joined him and his brothers on their missions and adventures, still fighting a war where so much had been lost. For all of you, the war was your only reality and all you had ever experienced. Perhaps that was why, with arms wrapped around each other’s bodies and eyes closed to the reality, you and he would trade dreams of a future where the screams, deaths, and sacrifices were only a memory. It had seemed possible then, to hope for a future with him, to wish for a long life filled with the love you had taught each other.
