Okay but imagine if Ezekiel gets hit by some magic thing and the cure Jenkins drums up makes him slightly tipsy and turns of his normal filters.

And instead of the sarcasm everyone is expecting, they suddenly have a really cute and super physically affectionate Aussie thief on their hands who has:

  • Given everyone cheek kisses
  • Styled Eve’s hair and insists on calling her a warrior queen
  • Keeps playing with and braiding Cassandra’s hair
  • Walked up to Jenkins more than seven or eight times with the biggest grin and booped him on the nose
  • Keeps cuddling and giggling with Cassandra
  • Built a pillow and blanket fort with Cassandra
  • Made Flynn flower crowns “because you’re marrying our warrior queen so you should look like it”
  • Flynn if punching you wouldn’t make Eve sad I would do it because you keep leaving and making her sad”
  • “but here you can have another flower crown”
  • Keeps asking Jake if he can pet his hair because it looks soft but also because Jake is their other grumpy cat
  • Convinced Eve to join Cassie’s and his pillow fort
  • Keeps kissing Jake’s nose because he blushes red every time but also smiles at Ezekiel really cutely afterwards
  • Has dragged Jake into the pillow fort which is stocked with some of Jake’s favourite poetry books so that he won’t get bored

So can we talk for a second about how in “and the fatal separation” Cassie names her land pirate self “Amy Adamantite”. now adamantite could be a twist on the word adamantine which means unbreakable and is basically the best thing for Cassie to call herself after the last episode. It’s also an element used ALOT in online gaming and the thought of nerd!Cassie playing World of warcraft or elder scrolls is amazing.

Wait, wait....

Last week we had an Angel reference ( “I don’t like vampires,” said by Jake ,as he flexes a hand.  Christian Kane played Lindsey McDonald on Angel, where his character had that hand cut off by Angel (a vampire))  and this week Jake get’s magical tattoos?!

May I refernce the final season of Angel and Lindsey’s magic tattoos….

between that and him basically training to be Eliot it’s like all my favorite CK characters are merging into one and i COULD. NOT. BE. HAPPIER.

So, was I the only one confused about the whole Jenkins x Cassandra thing going on in this latest episode? It wasn't only because it WASNT Jassandra. It was just weird and really unexpected. Like, I always think of Jenkins as the helpful grandpa. The love-arc that I fear they're going to take has made me a bit uncomfortable. Am I leaning too much on prejudice?

Hi there!

You were not the only one confused. Though, I think it was intended to feel rather unexpected (as evidenced by Jenkins himself nearly destroying his tea set, lol). Yes, he and Cassandra have a special connection and we all knew it but I think a lot of us assumed that it was very doting uncle/loving niece.

But just because a lot of assumed that was the nature of their relationship doesn’t mean Cassandra didn’t have a crush on him. (As someone who is in love with both Jenkins and John Larroquette myself I can tell you he is worthy of a crush haha.) I wouldn’t say you’re leaning too much on prejudice either because his relationship with everyone else on the show is very much helpful caretaker/grandfather/uncle. It would seem natural to extend that to Cassandra as well. At least, from Jenkins’s point of view.

I would like to point out though, that Jenkins let her down gently. Jenkins is a Knight of the Round Table. Chivalry is very important to him and part of that is making promises of loyalty and love to one woman. He explained that he already promised his eternity to another woman and that is an oath he is not willing to break. Yes, he did say he loved Cassandra but, after letting her down so easily, I do not feel it was intended as romantic love. Jenkins himself told Cassandra that he was not the love she was looking for. Jenkins is not the kind of man to say something he doesn’t mean. He is, after all, the Incorruptible Knight.

That’s not to say I’m definitely right in my opinions or that future episodes won’t touch back on this at some point. But it seemed to me, that Jenkins was someone Cassandra greatly respected and cared for and she reached out to him in her time of need for comfort.

She wasn’t willing to tell him why, exactly. But combine his immortal life with her crush and how much she respects him and how unique he is in her world and I think the fact that she reached out to him does make sense. Lindy herself has said in interviews that Cassandra wasn’t so much reaching out for a lover as she was for comfort and for someone who had something she didn’t…immortal life.

I also think that for Cassandra, who was in a very vulnerable and scary place, it was a door she had to open. She had this crush and she had to know what would happen before her tumor finally took her away from the life she’d fought to make for herself. She needed to know what he would say and not wonder about it any more. Now she knows what his answer would have been and can maybe find closure in that.

Thanks for stopping by the ask! I hope some of this was helpful or comforting to you!

Amazingly well said. and while i couldn’t have said it any better myself i do have 2 points to add . 1) it’s kind of my headcannon that she asked Jenkins out because she wanted close companionship in what she thought could be her final moments, and of all the people in her life she thought she would hurt him the least. She couldn’t live her final moments knowing she would absolutely devastate one of her friends by bringing their realtionship to a higher level just to have to leave. But Jenkins….she could do that to him….Because he IS immortal and several thousand years old, she knows her death can’t break him. He’s used to people dying, He’s used to grieving them. He’s used to moving on.

and 2) Lindy also said in an interview that she herself thinks John Laroquette is sexy and that he’s one of her heroes. she said she is at least half to blame for this plot twist. it makes me super happy that she so invested in these characters.

1) I think you mean telepathic, not telekinetic. 2) I don't think that her gift has become telepathic, I think that it has grown into magic, as it was in the Season One finale.

You are correct. I meant telepathic, not telekinetic yet. And Cassie always says magic and science are the same, so I think she IS telepathic and it IS magical. I do believe this is just a HUGE step to her getting to her Season One self though.

I’m still processing my thoughts on this episode but from some of the things I’ve seen people talking about I want to say that nothing that happened in this episode prevents any of your ships from happening I don’t like seeing people bash the episode because of ship related things please let’s calm down and enjoy the show we all love <3
