Still chugging away on my Marius x Bianca x Armand/Amadeo drawing. I spent a small fortune on these pens only to find out they smeared the ink I used for the outline so then I had to pivot to pencils because I was too lazy to get my watercolors out. So now I kind of hate it and maybe want to redo it? Idk. Dreaming up ways I could jimmy rig a cheap ass light box to trace my own work so I don’t have to redraw this from scratch

I love the part in Blood and Gold where Marius says he asked Bianca to help throw parties for him so I thought about doing a scene with the 3 of them at a masked ball. Death x2 and the maiden if you will 😘

Found some Armands, can’t remember if I’ve ever posted these? I don’t think so?

So I’ve never posted any art before now, but I had this near finished digital painting of Armand from a few months back. I wanted to post something in honour of Anne Rice and the Vampire Chronicles and this is the only art I’ve ever done for these books.

I'm re-reading QotD and I'm currently at the Devil's Minion chapter

I felt so uncomfortable (but I'm happy because that chapter is a pure horror story) in a specific part

It talks about Daniel and Armand's fights and there is this dialogue where Armand is angry because Daniel doesn't understand how bad is to be immortal

Daniel says "Don't hit me. You could kill me. You are too strong." (As always I can't quote perfectly the book because mine's in Italian)

By the way that line made me so uneasy

Armand physically was hitting Daniel and that was a line so similar to something you can read in a story about domestic violence

I love Armand and I love this chapter, I love the moments of love described in it but I'm very conscious that there is always this uneasiness while reading it because it's the most toxic relationship among all the others

The atmosphere is not erotic like in B&G where it is obvious AR was describing a BDSM situation and relationship, in this chapter we have really someone who is totally in the hands of a monster and is addicted to him.

Daniel is so addicted that he is dying of exhaustion, his body lost weight and it has almost only alchool in his body, Armand didn't just suck his blood from time to time but it seemed like he took Daniel's energy too constantly

This chapter is everything to me. It gives me so much to think on, because Armand's character is really well portrayed, I can connect all the infos of the previous books about his personality. He is in constant need of a teacher (a Master) that connects him to the rest of the world. He needs to be useful, needs to be the center of someone's life. He was like this with Marius, with the Children of Satan, he wanted to be like this for Lestat (failing), he was it for the Théâtre, he was it for Louis and when Louis told him he didn't need him anymore Armand left him. Then he found Daniel and started everything all over again. But Daniel was a human and Armand didn't realized that he had even more much power over him than the one ha had in the past with other vampires

And it's obvious that Daniel and Armand couldn't last after Daniel's turning. Daniel wasn't enchanted by Armand anymore, he didn't want to stay with him anymore, he didn't need him. And Armand felt the same. Daniel was his only human connection with the world, a world that by then Armand learned very well, he could go on without Daniel, who now was a vampire like him.

What Armand hadn't resolved was his past and it took his suicide to make peace with it and be more at peace with himself
