This is the rest of the Instagram post for the bds national committee for anyone who doesn't have Instagram
Weird that Oklahoma, famously full of Reservations for our indigenous population, is doing bad in education, healthcare, quality of life, and poverty.
Weird that it went red when, like a lot of states that have a lot of Natives, it has laws that make it harder for indigenous people to vote. Like how you can't register to vote if you don't have an address the Post Office delivers to, PO Boxes don't count, but also there are laws that say you can't get US mail delivered on the Rez and have to have a PO Box.
It's almost like there are systematic reasons for places with large populations of PoC often look more conservative than they really are.
Gerrymandering, voting and ID restrictions that make it hard to register to vote, few polling places that have been purposely given not enough machines, carceral rates to strip voting rights, and other factors I can't think of right now because I'm so angry at this kind of smug self-congratulating othering bullshit all play into why this happens. No one wants to be last in education and first in poverty.
Additionally there is a significant size difference between these two states and their population densities are very different. Massachusetts has 7,001,399 people in 10,554 square miles. Oklahoma has 4,053,824 in 69,899 square miles. I wonder how population density affects availability of resources. I wonder how many of those red counties have fewer than 100 people in them.
But, honestly, it's mostly the blatant racism in this post that's pissing me off.
That’s not how slurs work but not like genocide supporters give a shit.
and i will continue to make fucking noise about the fact our representation is disappearing rapidly during a key moment in history!!
Just watched the banned Moon Girl episode.
>the episode addresses the topic of trans kids in sports >the entire episode is about how bigots will always move the goalpost, and playing by their rules is pointless >the solution is not to play their game and break the rules >it also states that trans people should never feel like a burden >the character Brooklyn is explicitly stated to be trans >there is also an explicitly nonbinary character >multiple mentions of pride and depictions of pride flags, trans flags and progress flags
I'm not at all surprised this didn't get past the censors but I'm so mad that it didn't, because this could've been something really special, and the fact it was canned after being fully finished is downright painful. This episode was wonderful and I'm grateful to all the people who worked on it, and angry that their hard work was wasted. Disney did not deserve you.
satisfying
"how am i supposed to learn from my mistakes?"
well you seem to be learning a lot right now aren't you?
seems like he knew full-well what he was doing at the time. get the feeling he'd do it again, too, if this 'apology' worked.
This is Andrey X, a Jewish Israeli pro-Palestine activist.
I don't know how to describe this video so I'll just write out what he's saying:
That is the beginning of an Israeli settlement. And this is the Palestinian village of Umm al-Hiran. Which is right now under a demolition order, in order to expand the settlement that way.
And we are not in the West Bank. We are in the Naqab desert. Every single Palestinian in that village has an Israeli passport. And yet they're being expelled to make way for a Jewish settlement.
And look at the hills around us. This place is empty. If Israel wants to build a settlement, they can do it anywhere. And yet they choose to do it here. Because the only purpose of that settlement is to expel Palestinians from their land.
This is happen all over the Naqab desert. Currently 14 Palestinian Bedouin communities are under demolition orders. And thousands of people are set to become homeless.
This is the most blatant illustration that Israel is an ethno-nationalist apartheid state. The Palestinians of Umm al-Hiran have the exact same citizenship as the settlers who are about to move into their land. And yet the Palestinians are being ethnically cleansed just because they belong to an ethno-cultural group that the Israeli state wants to suppress as much as possible.
Howdy folks, the Senate will be considering the first ever resolution blocking arms to Israel. This is huge and historic; it would block government contracting and about $20 billion in arms and support. This is an uphill battle, PLEASE urge your senators to support S.J.Res114-115. This is maybe the most important piece of legislation relating to Palestine that we have ever gotten and we must seize this opportunity.
This doc has information on the resolutions and their process, as well as sample messages and a phone script you can use. Please, use this moment to hear witness for your neighbors.
This is a massive call to action even if you live in a blue state! You cannot simply trust that your senator will do the right thing here. They need to hear that we still care even if the election is behind us.
I gotta say, the amount of people essentially going “there are kids starving in africa” in response to the elections really shows we are a species doomed to infinitely repeat anal cycles so long as many refuse to make an active effort to pay attention and change
Throwback to that time I got shadow banned in religion class cuz the teacher was going on spiel about how we were ungrateful for not eating the cafeteria food and I responded with “there’s a difference between being ungrateful and not wanting to get poisoned” which effectively turned the rest of the class into an uncontrollable frenzy of the teacher desperately trying to regain control while classmates pulled out already printed pictures of some of the green hotdogs they would serve (have no clue why he had them ready)
I couldn't have said it better myself.
As a 30 year old man who escaped the Alt-right pipeline, you're not going to be happy about the answer.
All I hear from leftists is how much they hate me for my immutable traits, how much they blame me for everything wrong with the world, how much they want me and everyone who looks like me dead.
Whereas Alt-right types would call me "brother" and welcome me into their ranks so long as I hated the right ways.
Do you understand the difference?
I'm an ally and support equality because I feel it's the morally correct choice to make, but holy fuck is it difficult to reconcile that with the fact that means fighting for a lot of people who see you as the scum of the earth.
Read this and then read it again and then read some fucking bell hooks because this is a legitimate problem on the left.
"To create loving men, we must love males. Loving maleness is different from praising and rewarding males for living up to sexist-defined notions of male identity. Caring about men because of what they do for us is not the same as loving males for simply being." - bell hooks, The Will to Change https://bellhooksbooks.com/product/the-will-to-change/
rip mythbusters you would've loved destroying cybertrucks
Just to be clear, Kamala conceded with grace and dignity but it is still well within everyone’s right to demand an investigation and even a recount with due cause despite a winner being declared. U.S.Americans have the right to demand free and fair elections (we don’t have a right to, say, start an insurrection like certain people did after the 2020 election).
Many, including major swing states, (Nevada, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and more) have already admitted to data and ballots not being recognized or lost and are recounting or calling for a recount. It usually takes days to count and record votes, a day after a bunch of election tampering is not enough.
If you used a mail-in ballot and haven’t yet, check if it was actually counted and “recognized.” A lot of mail-in voters from swing states found out that their ballots were uncounted today.
mitigate!
Y'ALL THE HOUSE IS STILL IN PLAY REMEMBER HOW BIG A DEAL IT WAS TO WIN THE HOUSE IN 2018 IT'S STILL POSSIBLE
Of the seven swing states, five allow ballots to be cured in at least some circumstances:
Arizona: In Arizona, ballots can be tossed out if an election official determines that the signature on the envelope containing the ballot doesn’t match the signature in a voter’s registration record. State law, however, requires election officials to “make reasonable efforts to contact the voter, advise the voter of the inconsistent signature and allow the voter to correct.” The voter has until the fifth business day after the election to correct the signature.
Georgia: In Georgia, a ballot can be rejected for a number of reasons, including if the voter incorrectly writes their driver’s license number when they submit their ballot. If a ballot is rejected, state law says election officials “shall promptly notify the elector of such rejection.” The voter then has three days to cure the ballot, although what they are required to do to cure it varies depending on what caused the ballot to be rejected.
Michigan: In Michigan, ballots can also be rejected due to a signature matching problem. To cure the ballot, the voter must fill out a cure form and return it by 5 pm on the third day after the election.
Nevada: Nevada also can reject ballots because of signature-matching problems. According to state law, if that happens, “the clerk shall contact the voter” and inform them of what they need to do to cure the ballot. The voter then must cure the ballot by 5 pm on the sixth day following the election.
North Carolina: North Carolina ballots can be rejected for a variety of clerical errors. Should that happen, state law says “the county board of elections shall promptly notify the voter of the deficiency and the manner in which the voter may cure the deficiency.”
