🌸 Pinned Post (remade!) 🌸

Heeey it's Ria. welcome to my tumblr. It's mostly reblog city here, but maybe I'll have things to say every now and then. I'm generally spoiler-free here, but I will tag things with "[insert media] spoilers" when needed. I'm really into video games featuring little guys, rhythm games, nostalgic media from the 90s/00s, and magical girl media!

my art-only tumblr is @ganbaria-art! I might reblog some of my art from there from time to time.

I've also got a lovely lil' mid 2000s-esque neocities site! I self-host my art and fics here, and it's where I feel most comfortable being myself without worrying about the horrors of modern day social media. Desktop view is heavily recommended.

I've also got a carrd where I have all of my interests and d/n/i boundaries written down and whatnot.

I won't go into d/n/i specifics here, but the gist is don't be a jerk to me or my friends and we're good. Blank blogs WILL be blocked on sight as a safety precaution.

Once again reminding people that making threats against a president's life, joking or not, is a felony in the US and can absolutely get the Secret Service and FBI knocking at your door. Considering the Trump/Vance administration has openly discussed their plans to turn this country into a fascist dictatorship, it's more important than ever to be careful with the things you say online about Trump or his associates.

fucking australia’s trying to get everyone to link their government id to their social media accounts else you cant use them anymore, the actual fuck is wrong with this country

please, actually, get fucking mad over this, the entirety of australia basically just banned all social media for anyone who doesnt want to give up their privacy to the government, there was no vote on this, no nothing, they just went ahead and fucking passed this ridiculously privy law and barely anybody’s talking about it the actual fuck

okay so to actually explain what exactly is happening, it’s an age thing. theyve used ‘protect the children’ and ‘let kids be kids’ as a weapon again. anyone under 16 is banned from social media, but to enforce this they have openly admitted everyone will need to link their government id to their social media. this whole ‘protect the kids’ thing was a very obvious trojan horse for getting ppl to give up their privacy.

and yknow, that alone is a very shitty law even without the whole surrendering your private information to the government thing.

theyve made outside uninhabitable, there’s nowhere left to go. public areas have degenerated, theyve turned hanging out into a crime with loitering, streets feel unwalkable sometimes, parents are more wary of letting their kids walk around on their own than they used to be, and now theyre trying to ban one of the main ways kids manage to distract themselves inside the house.

when i was 15 i was depressed and lonely, unable to leave the house very far, no friends, nobody. the one place that helped me feel less alone was online communities. i wouldve killed myself if it werent for the support i recieved on there. and now theyre trying to ban that for future generations, in a world that hates them being both outside and inside.

and even still, this is still a fucking trojan horse to get you to give up your privacy.

Our fandom forbearers did NOT suffer through Anne Rice, strikethrough, and other bullshit for fucking ACOTAR and Harry Potter fans to fucking ruin it for all of us by selling fanfiction. I am not losing novel length yaoi epics because some of you don't know how to act in fannish spaces and yes I do blame the booktokification of fanfic but I also blame those of you that treat fandom like content to consume and not a community to engage with.

Seriously people, learn fandom etiquette. It exists, it exists for extremely good reasons, and it's been decades in the making.

You know the saying, 'OSHA regulations are written in blood'? Yeah, that applies to fandom etiquette. We didn't make this shit up to lord it over newcomers, these rules evolved as a form of fucking self-defense and by god we'll die on this hill.

So stop putting other people's fanfictions on KINDLE UNLIMITED!!!

In case you're unaware: that can (and will) get the writer and publisher a Cease & Desist and very possibly a lawsuit. Which they will lose.

Fanfic must be free or else it is breaking copyright — even advertising on a fanfic website is risky.

You do not own the copyright. You do not own the characters. You do not make money off copyrights that are not your own.

Hey, the ACLU is getting people to send letters to your Reps to have Congress pass the No Kings Act.

This act would make constitutional amendments to ensure that even sitting presidents are held liable for their actions. That NOBODY is above the law.

Their goal is 150k messages sent and at the time of writing this they're about 2.1k off from that goal!

ACLU gives you a prefilled message that you can edit to send to make the process easier, and will send it out for you.

This only takes a few minutes!

Not unreality, not a joke: I have never posted such a thing before here but- Please do this one for whatever good it might result in.
