About

The Challenge: Comment on every fanfic you read and enjoy in the month of January.

Every chapter. Every one shot. Every drabble. Every ficlet. Whether it’s on a personal website, a blog, or an archive. Whether you’ve read it a hundred times before or you’re reading it for the first time. Whether the fic was posted years ago or minutes ago. Whether you sign your name or leave your thoughts anonymously. Whether your comment is paragraphs in length or a few short words. Comment on every fanfic you read and enjoy in the month of January.

The Philosophy: Comments are what keep a fandom thriving and growing.

We don’t see comments as a transaction. They’re not a price paid for reading a fic. Comments are simply one half of an interaction.

Fandom is a relationship between individuals—hundreds, thousands, maybe millions of individuals in some cases, but still individuals. For the greater fandom relationship to function, individuals within the fandom must interact with one another—ideally in a positive manner. One way to interact is by writing and reading fanfic. A writer prompts an interaction by posting their work; it is up to the reader to then acknowledge (or not acknowledge) the interaction in one of three ways.

  • If a reader reads to the end of a fanfic and enjoyed the fic, they should acknowledge the positive interaction with a comment. (As well as give the fic a like or kudo.)
  • If a reader reads to the end of a fanfic and didn’t particularly enjoy the fic, they should acknowledge the interaction with a like or kudo.
  • If a reader does not read to the end of a fic because they didn’t enjoy the fic. They should close the browser tab and seek out a different fic.

All fanfics are read voluntarily. It is up to the reader to determine their fandom experience. As our fandom forbears were fond of saying, “Don’t like, don’t read.”

If you’re still taking prompts, can you do a story about teenage Natsu and Lucy and maybe an accidental kiss?! 😘 Please and thank you!

Funny story, I had 4/5 of this done a while ago, but no ending - let it rest and then tonight - BOOM! I felt compelled to finish. I hope you enjoy! Just under 900 words of fluff!

Natsu enjoyed hanging out with Lucy at her dad’s house. Well, it was really more of a mansion - at least ten times bigger than the apartment he shared with his dad and brother. It wasn’t just the servants and endless offers of food. No. Natsu felt happiest when he was near Lucy. The endless offers of food were awesome, but all in all, a side-perk.

“I gotta go or my dad’s gonna send out a search party.” Natsu tossed his books into his school bag and smiled at Lucy. “You studied enough for both of us.”

“It doesn’t work like that!”

“Pfft. Sure it does.” He swung the bag over his shoulder. “I listened to you explain your answers and that counts as studyin’ in my book!”

Lucy slowly shook her head. “Doing the work for yourself and eavesdropping on me as I study are not equal!”

“Equal? Maybe not, but more than I usually do!”

Natsu’s cheerful admission made Lucy cringe. “If you’d do just a bit more, I know you could raise your grades.”

“My grades are good in the classes I enjoy. Don’t worry about me, Lucy.” Natsu moved closer to his best friend and pinched her cheek. “My report card can stand a few C’s and D’s. My dad understands I’m not all fired up for English class.”

“Hmmpf!” Lucy frowned as she rubbed her face. “Stop pinching my cheek!”

“You sure you want me touchin’ elsewhere?” Natsu chuckled. “I’m game.”

Fictober - Leaves

Fandom: AnS, Obi x Shirayuki

The wind tugged at Obi as he watched leaves spiral into the sky, tracking one stunning red specimen that fluttered into his companion’s hair.

“What’s with you?” Shirayuki tucked a bunch of herbs in her satchel and glanced around the clearing. “You said we had to hurry back, did you change your mind?”

“No, just admiring some beautiful…nature.”

Attention Writers

The best thing you can do on this hell of a site is support other writers ok??? Understand???

Send asks to other writers!! Send messages to other writers!! Ask about Ocs!! Ask about Wips!! SUPPORT EACH OTHER!

Support each others’ writing and growth! It is a long, hard road from the first idea to the last word. Whether the intention is to self publish, traditionally publish or just throw out onto the Internet and hope for the best.

Reblog other writers’ works! Like other writers’ works! Go visit their Wattpad accounts! Go become their buddy on nanowrimo! If u have the cash support ppl on Patreon!!

SUPPORT THE FUCK OUT OF EACH OTHER

It doesn’t matter if you’re a writer who’s never committed a word to page or if you have completed 200,000 word drafts!! Everyone of us needs love and support to keep going. So make writer friends! Share ideas! Help each other! Don’t bring each other down let us all become the best writers we can be ok!!

If ur super freaking shy- start by messaging me! I will always have anon turned on for shy followers. Baby steps! But let’s just help each other be the absolute best we can be and help those who feel they aren’t doing their best today know that that’s ok! That they are still amazing and it is ok to take a break and to try again.

For those in the back- SUPPORT OTHER WRITERS LOVE EACH OTHER HELP EACH OTHER

LETS WRITE AND READ SOME AMAZING WORDS!!!!

SPREAD THIS LIKE WILDFIRE AND LET OTHER WRITERS KNOW U R HERE TO SUPPORT THEM!!!!

Writing is not a solo mission, despite what people think.

All writers need encouragement and critique and support. We are a community who need to push each other to do more, to do better or just plain do.

Writing is difficult. We don’t just write for ourselves. We shouldn’t just write for ourselves. Like every person creating something whether it’s art, crafts, music etc we like to know that what we’re doing is worth it. That someone out there is interested in our work, in us.

I’ll admit to being hypocritical here: I’m not as involved within the writing community here on Tumblr as I want to be- as I should be. Especially because I’m looking to have that writing community here.

I know it’s difficult to make connections with the people behind the Tumblrs. But we can all start with a few more reblogs, a few more comments and a few more asks.

Preach 🙌🏻

Feedback culture is dead, long live feedback culture!

AO3, fanfiction, and comments: the system isn’t working.

Fic authors have a problem with feedback – or rather, with the lack of it. Fanfiction has a notoriously low ratio of comments to hits, and many of us have expressed our frustration that we can get a hundred, two hundred, five hundred, even a thousand views on our stories, but only a handful of readers will leave kudos, let alone comments.

Unfortunately, this only gets worse for long, multi-chapter stories (aka, the longfics we know, love, and would sell our souls in a second if it meant an update), which also happen to be the stories that authors need the most support to continue and complete. Law of diminishing returns, y’all, and it sucks.

We’re not here to guilt you into leaving comments. We want to address the problem by changing the format, and we need your help to do it.

The goal is to increase the amount of feedback authors get from readers, especially on stories with multiple chapters, and to make it easier for everyone to show how much we love fics. We’re opening a discussion with ao3 to figure out how/if any of these options can be implemented, but first we need options to present!

Some of our current ideas:

  • Ability to leave a form of kudos on every chapter, instead of only once on the entire story: this lets authors know that you’re here and you’re reading their updates, so their hard work isn’t getting tossed into the internet void.
  • Comment templates: suggested comments that can be customized or posted as-is. Many of us draw a blank or get nervous when we try to think of a comment, so having pre-made options will both increase the total level of feedback and serve as practice, making it easier to leave more in-depth comments in the future.
  • Upvoting/leaving kudos on comments themselves: positive reinforcement makes giving feedback more fun and rewarding, and it lets the author know that readers are present and agreeing with other comments, even if they don’t leave one themselves.

We’ll contact AO3 to discuss the possibility of adding any of these as native features, and if that won’t work, we’re looking into creating and sharing a user script.

What you can do to help:

  •  As a reader, what would you like to have? What would you be most likely to use? New ideas, opinions on ideas that are listed here, they’re all good.
  • As a creator, how would you feel about each of these options? Can you think of other ways of receiving or encouraging feedback?
  • Pros and cons of these (note: our thoughts on this are discussed in this google doc
  • GET THE WORD OUT! Reblog this post, send it to your friends, link to it from your stories. We need as much input and support as possible to get this off the ground.

Feedback makes for happy authors. Happy authors make for more stories. Let’s keep this part of fandom alive!

More details about our thoughts, discussions, and ideas can be found in this google doc.

Anonymous asked:

What would it take for Kazama to get married with a human? Would his demon pride ever let him do that, even if he fell in love with one?

Kazama is very full of himself and once he sets his mind on something, he REALLY doesn’t wanna budge. So, if he fell in love with a human he most likely would get married to them! Because screw everything, if he wants something/somebody, he sure WILL get it.

The hardest part for him would be dealing with the though he fell in love with a human at all, I think it would take him some time to stomach the thought. But once he’s like “yes, I’m in love with them and I don’t care what they are, I just want them” he will go all the way.

There might be problems on the way and other demons might not want to agree to that, but well, you know Kazama. People either bend to his will or he makes them!

My wish for every writer in 2018 is that you all finish every WIP you got lingering around.

May your words flow freely, may your characters come alive and may everyone love your finished story when they read it.

December Drabbles: 5-Sentence Challenge - Fireplace

Hakuouki, Saito x Chizuru (slightly naughty/mature)

An ember popped in the fireplace, loud and jarring - the only sounds in the living room being soft sighs and the rhythmic squeaking of couch springs.

Chizuru froze in position on Saito’s lap, gripping his upper arms tighter, “What was that?”

“Nothing important,” Saito assured his wife, “if the house burns down, I’ll buy us a new one.” He captured Chizuru’s mouth in a drugging kiss and she responded with renewed ardour.

Hours later Saito and Chizuru dozed, passion sated like the sleeping fire - but able to blaze up again in an instant.

Reblog if no matter if you have 50,000 or 50 followers, you appreciate every single one. Reblog if you appreciate the messages you get, whether it's 100 or 1. Reblog if a little smile comes across your face everytime you see a new follower or message. Reblog if even though most of us aren't tumblr famous, we appreciate the little things.

here’s for the writers that didn’t receive any asks today

here’s for the writers that didn’t make any appreciation list

here’s for the writers that weren’t mentioned anywhere

here’s for the writers that aren’t popular

here’s for the writers whose fics are never rec’ed

here’s for the writers whose fics have a low kudo/commenting rate

here’s for the writers that don’t get reblogs/likes

here’s for the writers that abandon their work half way because they think it sucks (spoiler: it does not)

here’s for the writers that were bashed for whatever they wrote

here’s for the writers that feel like giving up

here’s for the writers that feel anxious when they post a fic

here’s for the writers that struggle to write

here’s for the writers that never publish anything

here’s for all writers. No matter who they are, what fandom, what ship: you guys are amazing and you make fandom a better place.

Keep writing.
