Silence enveloped them like a comforting blanket as they lay on the futon together. Saitō’s fingers lightly grazed the smooth skin of his lover, and he was filled—not for the first time—with wonder. Chizuru’s pale skin seemed to glow in the moonlight, lending her the look of an ethereal being come to grace his world with her divine presence.
Chizuru hummed as his fingers continued to trail down her side and to her hips. Saitō’s eyes followed along, memorizing every small detail from the appearance of goosebumps to the way she tensed when he ran over an especially ticklish spot. Her eyes were mostly closed, and a drowsy, satiated smile played upon her lips. He lived for that look—the one that said that he had pleased her as much as she did him.
“Hajime,” she murmured. The sound of his name said in the gentle timbre of her voice never failed to make his heart race.
“Aa?”
Chizuru stirred, and Saitō’s hand stilled, his palm resting at the dip of her waist. Her eyes opened fully. “What are you thinking?”
Saitō startled, taken aback by the question. His mind raced, wondering if there was something in particular she was looking for in his answer. And yet, he knew that Chizuru was a very straight-forward person, and was only asking because she was genuinely curious.
“Just…admiring how beautiful you look in the moonlight.”
Chizuru’s brow wrinkled. “Am I really so different now than I usually am?”
Saitō couldn’t help the rumble of laughter that shook his body. His hand squeezed Chizuru’s waist, and he could feel her skin beginning to warm again under his touch. He leaned forward until their lips were barely brushing.
In that moment, as they stole each other’s breath and stared deep into their eyes, Saitō lost his words. He pressed his lips against Chizuru’s, his arms pulling her to him until every inch of her was touching him. His body burst into flame at the contact, and as he rolled to hover above her, Saitō gave thanks for the chance to spend the rest of his life with her.
