Pairings: Okita/Saito, no fandom attached Rating: M Prompt: Shinsenvember 4 – Pigs and Pork Summary: Eating pork is healthy–or something like that. [AO3]

(This is a repost of a short story I wrote in 2017, but accidentally deleted. The characterizations of Saito and Okita are based off of a fandom I’m no longer a part of, so just consider them original.)

.*To Your Health*.

It was the perfect summer evening to smoke.

The outer shoji had been slid aside and Saito sat dead center before the open doors, staring thoughtfully into the garden speckled by firefly gold. Cricket song filled the air, joined by the intermittent baritone croaking of frogs perched about the central pond–and then, distant groaning of floorboards from the inner hallway growing ever louder.

Uncommon, the tiny smile that pulled at the corners of Saito’s mouth on hearing those particular footsteps, and with that, he exhaled a plume of white smoke.

The kiseru pipe was held between his pointer finger and thumb just before the tip, with the rest of the long thin shaft supported by his upward-facing palm. He lowered his hand and waited for the very much desired company to arrive outside his door.

“Saito-san,” a muffled voice called out from the other side.

“Come.”

Pivoting on his knees, Saito turned as Okita entered looking incredibly pleased with himself. In his clutches were a small plate and pair of chopsticks, which he held steadily as he slid the shoji shut again with his foot. “I have something for you, Hajime!”

“Oh?” His curiosity piqued, Saito watched as Okita neared with the dish; from this angle, he couldn’t tell what it held but if it was some form of sustenance, then he was sure it would delight his palate. Okita shared similar tastes with him when it came to food, and sometimes he would visit in the evening with a delicious helping of daifuku or manju.

“Mm.” Okita made no move to sit when his bare feet came to a halt before Saito. “Did you hear what Matsumoto-sensei said today about the state of our health?”

Saito cocked his head and pursed his lips. “The decidedly miserable state of our health, you mean?”

Okita’s eyes closed momentarily and his grin widened. “Well, yes, that too.” There was an innocence about him when his lashes parted again, something Saito had always found droll; he was the formidable captain of the first squad, after all, and the one who posed the greatest personal challenge when sparring. “I was referring more to the suggested solution, though.”

Break Me for.... Sen and whomever you choose!

Avatar

The pains started in the middle of the night. Kazama had been jerked awake by a low-sounding keen coming from his wife. IT took a minute or two for him to clear his mind of his disorientation before he could process what was going on. His eyes met Sen’s, and she didn’t need to say anything. He knew what was needed.

And that was the last time he saw Sen. He had flown out of their room in search of someone to find the midwife. He knew once he alerted the staff, he wouldn’t be allowed into the room, but he hadn’t thought about that until a few hours after the fact. At first, he had allayed some of his worries by telling himself it would only be a few hours. Sen was strong.

The sun had risen and set, and still no baby. He had tried to soothe his nerves with sake, but that had lost its effect, and he was reduced to pacing and snapping at every servant that entered the room.

“Kazama-sama?”

Kazama was jerked from his thoughts by the tremulous voice, and he glared at its owner. “What is it?”

“I thought you’d want to know…”

“Is the child born?”

The woman shook her head, eyes wide with fear. “I’m afraid not, Kazama-sama. There’s been…it’s complicated.”

Kazama stormed up to her, his nose coming close to hers. He heard her gasp, and he was glad that he was upsetting her. “I don’t care what’s going on…all I know is that my wife and child better be fine when it’s all done.”

“I-I’ll try, Kazama-sama, but I can’t guarantee it.”

He didn’t want to hear any more. He shoved the woman back as he stalked away, and she stumbled. He heard her scurry out of the room. Kazama’s vision was clouded, and he stomped as he continued his pacing. How dare they approach him with no news!

After a few minutes of pacing, Kazama had sufficiently released his anger, and he now, he was being consumed by another emotion. One he wasn’t used to. He wished he had asked for more information because now he had no idea what was making the birth so complicated. Were they both really in danger.

What if I lose her?

That was an uncomfortable thought. Kazama flopped down onto a cushion, a shiver running through his body at the thought of the woman he had shared his bed with for the past year no longer being around. As he imagined what it would be like, he found that he would miss that mischievous sparkle in her eyes, and her stubbornness.

Then, there was the way she laughed with a becoming smile, and how she responded to him as they took their pleasure. No woman had driven him as crazy as she had, and he was starting to question if he would ever find another one like her if Sen were to die.

He grew quiet and remained seated on the cushion. The pressure in his chest increased as his thoughts continued to swirl around the very real possibility that he would never see Sen again.

I didn’t say anything to her before I left, he bemoaned.  And he knew then that he would regret that.

Time slipped away until finally, a harried woman approached him. Kazama looked up at her, and he must’ve looked as wrecked as he felt because her answering expression was tender.

“Kazama-sama…you have a daughter.”

He was shocked to stillness. He took a moment to think this through, and when he was able to understand it, he rose. “And Sen?”

“She is well. Tired but well. She will recover.”

Kazama swept past the woman, not bothering to ask permission to see Sen. He needed to see her. Now. He entered the room to see Sen lying on the futon, her face drawn and pale. He cast his gaze around the room and found the infant with the midwife, being wiped down.

Kazama swiftly stalked over to the futon and knelt beside it. He had the urge to reach out and brush Sen’s hair out of her face, but he was still uncomfortable with showing any sort of affection. His hands remained in his lap.

“Chikage…” she murmured.

“We have a daughter,” he reported as if she didn’t already know.

Sen’s smile was wane. “Yes. She decided she wanted to come feet first. She’s going to be difficult like her father.”

Normally, Kazama would be incensed by her barb, but he couldn’t bring himself to be upset. He was still trying to process the fullness in his chest from the swelling of his heart and the relief he felt at having Sen still at his side.

Pairing: Established Kondo/Hijikata Rating: E Summary: Hijikata had a rough patrol. Kondo makes everything okay, at least for a little while. Written largely to Halo. Hakuouki verse. Part 1 of 2. Nsfw [AO3]

Champagne Paradise

It’s like the clashing of swords—of steel on steel and the initial spark that sends embers scattering through the darkness… A visceral detonation on the fabric of space, a prick of light fracturing into supernova, an inferno that rips clear across an empty sky… It’s the eruption of raw feeling, the striking of violent waves over idled oceans of life blood, the reigniting of a dampened universe of ashes.

It’s the lungs remembering how to respire and the heart recalling how to beat. The restoration of vitality. The renewal of the tethers and ribbons, the threads and stitches. The rebound to the lowest common denominator, to the sum of just one and one.

It’s forming an unbreakable bond, with hands pressed palm to palm and digits locked and intertwined. It’s breathing the same ragged breaths, resynchronizing two hearts to pound in time to the same metronome. It’s the cadence that sets everything right once more.

It’s the liberation of an over-encumbered soul, the breaking free from a calcified prison layered in soot and guilt. It’s the sparkle and the glitter and the shimmer left when he shapeshifts back into something recognizable, something mortal. It’s evidence that he’s still human at the core and not truly a demon…that he’s penetrable and affected, that he breathes and bleeds and needs and loves, just like everyone else. It’s the reminder that that’s okay, that he shouldn’t be ashamed of his humanity or to feel.

And what he currently feels leads him to the beginning all over again, the return to the starting point—echoes of the first longing glance, the first yearning thought, the first flutter when their gazes met before shinai cracked the dojo’s suffocating tension. Because it’s been years of this and things still feel as thrilling and vibrant as they did back when everything was new.

It’s the promise that history unfolded then as it should have, and that it’s doing the same now—that fate, written as it might be in the stars, will always settle back in their favor as long as they have each other. And that brings the reassurance, the coming home, the affirmation…

It’s the effect Kondo has, when the day’s been too hard and the times too trying—when he’s got Hijikata doubled over on his back against their futon, with limber calves pressed to his broad shoulders and feet more slender than his own tossed in the air.

Wheels Within Wheels (undercover as lovers)

The first letter arrives by military courier from Laxdo. It’s addressed neatly and properly, in the loose but careful script of someone who writes for a living. The back of the envelope is decorated with cartoonish smiling faces. Zakura sighs. This is what they have to work with.

A little something something for @kondo-hijikata, who has been searching for more konkata content. I hope you enjoy this!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Have you read The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Toshi?”
“No.”
Kondo’s eyes widened, and he looked as if he had been struck. “Why not?”
Hijikata shrugged. “I haven’t had the time between peddling medicine and training.”
He wasn’t about to admit that any free moment spent not doing any of the above mentioned activities were spent attempting to put into words the depth of his feelings for the man sitting across from him. He had tried multiple times to create the perfect haiku, but nothing he wrote ever seemed adequate or captured the true effervescent essence of Kondo Isami.
“You have no idea what you’re missing!” Kondo exclaimed with a hint of excitement in his tone.
Hijikata couldn’t help the fond snort that escaped him as he closed his eyes. “I think…I’d rather you tell the stories to me.”
“Oh?”
Hijikata opened his eyes and nodded. He supposed he could give a reason why, but he just couldn’t form the words. He hoped Kondo would understand. It seemed the man did, for his smile brightened and was warm like a summer day before the humidity set in.
“Well then, do you have time for me to start telling you the first part of the story?”
Hijikata adjusted his position on the cushion until he was sitting informal seiza. “I suppose.”
Kondo’s smile dropped slightly. “If it’s a waste of your time…”
“Tch…you would never waste my time.”
His smile widened, and the storytelling began. Hijikata slid his arms deep into his wide kimono sleeves and watched intently. Kondo remained sitting across from him, his eyes alight and dancing as he began his tale. Hijikata felt his heart skip a beat at seeing Kondo so happy.
But as the story continued, it became clear that Kondo was passionate about the story he was sharing. He could barely remain seated as he leaned forward to draw Hijikata in. And Hijikata was powerless to resist. Their surroundings melted away until it was just the two of them and the tale Kondo was weaving. His words wrapped around Hijikata like a warm embrace, and Hijikata’s body hummed with excitement watching Kondo as he stood and began to act out pieces of the battle he was describing.
Kondo was breathtaking with cheeks flushed and movements fluid as he portrayed an epic duel. It took every ounce of control Hijikata possessed to remain seated. If anything, he wanted to give Kondo the courtesy of finishing his tale.
“I think…that’s enough excitement for tonight, don’t you think?” Kondo finally said at the conclusion of the battle.
Hijikata shook his head to clear his thoughts, and his lips upturned. “Whatever you say.”
Kondo resumed his previous position across from Hijikata. “Well? What did you think?”
The corner of his mouth twitched upward. “I think…I’d much prefer you telling me the stories.”
Kondo’s blush increased as Hijikata leaned forward, his hands snaking out of his sleeves. He slid his slender fingers into Kondo’s soft brown hair. He didn’t care if he loosened the tie holding his hair back. All he could think about was that he had finally found a way to tell Kondo how he felt.
Their lips brushed, and Hijikata peered into Kondo’s widened eyes. He thought for a moment that maybe he had made a mistake, but when Kondo met his lips again with a little more force, he knew he hadn’t been wrong. Kondo reached up and pulled on the tie holding Hijikata’s hair back, and he felt his locks fall freely around his shoulders to be pushed back by Kondo’s hands.
Their tongues danced, Hijikata’s heart raced, and they lapped up each other’s little whispered moans between kisses. When they finally pulled away for a little break, their chests heaving, Hijikata felt his heart swell in his chest as the man he long admired and loved looked upon him with such adoration.
“Tomorrow night then?”
“Hm?”
“I’ll come to tell you the next part tomorrow night?” Kondo clarified.
Hijikata’s smile was soft. “Yes.”
Sabina. I'm not good with showing my affection, but perhaps I'll have better luck putting brush to paper. You're like my spring in after a harsh winter. My cherry blossom out of season. I probably sound corny, but I want to make sure I express myself at least in this way. I must admit I am impatient to embrace you and show you my love. Thank you for understanding me and staying by me. I love you. -Hijikata Toshizo.
Toshi,
Your words could never be corny to me. In fact, my heart races to know that my affections are returned. I have missed your presence, and I look forward to that moment when we can finally be together once again. I’m not good with my own spoken words, and I only hope my actions convey the depth of my feelings for you.
With love,
Sabina ❤️
Kiss Prompt #3, Souji and Saito 😘
Avatar
Okay, so I’m going to fall this a “drab-shot”, since it’s a little long for a drabble and a little short for a one-shot. This was fun to write, as soon as the ideas came to me, so thank you. ♥ Hopefully you like it?????
Soujilay his arm across his pillow so he could rest his head against his bicep,mindlessly staring out the window. He knew that getting some sleep was in hisbest interest and he had been trying to for some time, but he just…couldn’t. Hismind was currently a whirlwind of thoughts, but there was one thing that stoodapart from all of that.
if you're still accepting, could I request 15 for harachi for the winter prompt?
Haha! Boy, Harada is getting all the steamy prompts tonight! 😉 Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When Chizuru came out into the living room that morning, the last thing she expected to see was Harada sitting on a chair beside the Christmas tree barely dressed. Her eyes roved over the perfectly sculpted musculature of his exposed abdomen and the skin-tight red boxers trimmed with white at the waistband. Sitting casually on his head was a little red hat with a white puff at the end.

She was blushing. She could feel the heat radiating from her cheeks, and she looked away modestly, even though a part of her wanted to keep staring.

“Chizuru…look at me.”

The smooth baritone of his voice made Chizuru shiver and desire pool deep into her pelvis. She peered up at him once more to see his trademark come hither smirk on his face.

“I’m Santa.”

Chizuru giggled. “Obviously.”

“So…what are you supposed to do with Santa?” Harada teased.

Chizuru felt her blush deepen, her cheeks burning scarlet. “I…”

Harada pat one of his thighs in an inviting manner, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “Come sit on my lap.”

Chizuru couldn’t believe this was happening. It was clear that her original plan to open gifts by the Christmas tree would be delayed by a little romance. With a smile that indicated a little more confidence than she felt, Chizuru approached the red-haired man and stood before him.

“What-“

Before Harada could finish his sentence, Chizuru straddled him, wrapping her arms around his neck. Harada’s eyes widened in surprise briefly before he grinned wolfishly at her.

Emboldened by Harada’s acceptance, Chizuru smirked. “Was this what you had in mind?”

One of his hands slowly slid up her thigh, stopping just short of touching her hip. “It’s not what I imagined…but I’ll take it.”

“Merry Christmas,” Chizuru whispered before leaning forward to capture his lips in a searing kiss.
