A friend had a black kingsnake and when it shed, he knew my fascination with naturalism and asked if I wanted the skin.

I said hell yes, and decided a good way to kill some spare time would be to individually handpaint each scale with neon shades of watercolor.

This is the end result;

lightly glued to a flat canvas painted black in acrylic, and framed in black wood.
